History of the Casa

In January 1998 an industrial dispute which had lasted 850 days and had attracted support from workers around the world came to an end. The dispute was about a principle, put simply; you do not cross a picket line. Various sections of the media industry supported that stance.

As a result Channel 4 asked Jimmy McGovern (Cracker, Hillsborough etc) to write a script for a Docudrama being produced about the dispute. McGovern decided to take it on, but only on the understanding that those who had taken part in the dispute helped to write it.

The Casa is part of the Initiative Factory, a charitable trust set up by the sacked men to further the hopes and aspirations of the people and alleviate poverty in the city of Liverpool.
