Ishues: Family, Faith & Hip Hop — A Documentary
By Randy Schafer
Once considered the hottest rapper to come out of Athens, Ga., from the early, to mid 2000s, Ishues — also known as Ishmael Cuthbertson, a social worker, husband, father of five kids and a Muslim man — the former globetrotting lyricist, and one of many leaders of the hip-hop movement — is now grabbing ahold of the mic after an eight-year album hiatus.

Working on collaborations with various hip-hop artists, Flagpole Magazine shadowed Ishues from March to April, of 2015, while working with Athens rapper Dictator, Greg Hall, of GA Pro Entertainment and Reggie Official Productions on Dictator's newest single, "Not Me."
Ishues delves into the reasons he disappeared from the rap-game for almost a decade — leaving Johannesburg, South Africa, after roughly six months of performing in various countries across Africa — before declining the opportunity of touring internationally for two years.
In 2008, the Athens-based rapper realized he needed to make a change, and choose a new path — if he wanted to keep his family, and keep his Muslim faith.

http://malcolmxfiles.blogspot.com/
The Muslims who have accepted the religion of Islam have never bombed any churches, have never murdered any little girls as was done in Birmingham, have never lynched anybody, have never at any time been guilty of initiating any aggressive acts of violence during the entire 33 years or more that the honorable Elijah Muhammad has been teaching. The charge of violence against us actually stems from the guilt complex that exists in the conscious and subconscious minds of most white people in this country. They know that they’ve been violent in their brutality against Negroes and they feel that someday the Negro’s going to wake up and try and do unto them as the whites have done unto us.
We aren’t a violent group. We are taught to obey the law, to respect everyone who respect us, we’re taught to display courtesy to be polite, but we’re also taught that anytime anyone in anyway inflicts or seeks to inflict violence upon us, we are within our religious rights to retaliate in self-defence to the maximum degree of our ability. We never initiate any violence upon anyone, but if anyone attacks us, we reserve the right to defend ourselves.
So to accuse us of being violent is like accusing a man who is being lynched, who is being hung on a tree, simply because he struggles vigorously against his lyncher, the victim is accused the violence but the lyncher is never accused of violence. And I only point this out because the various racist groups that are set up in this country by whites and who have actually practiced violence against blacks for 400 years are never associated or identified or made synonymous with the term violence, but whites speak of Muslims almost synonymously with violence. Whenever Muslims are mentioned by them, violence is brought up, but it’s not connected with any other group. This is a sort of a propaganda tactic or what I would call psychological warfare to in some way make the image of the Muslims in this country the violent image rather than a religious image.

Meet British Bloke Who Banked £50 MILLION Working From Home PC: http://www.copytherichguy.com/
In this brief 1962 interview with the BBC (following a courtroom hearing into the LAPD's murder of Nation of Islam official Ronald Stokes) Malcolm X proceeds to rip America to shreds.
------------
Simply put, Malcolm X was the one man who put America to the proof and gave the lie to her pompous and insufferable claims to be the world's supreme bastion of freedom, justice and equality. He called out the United States like no one before or since and will forever be the standard bearer of authentic heroism and the purest criterion against which all manhood is to be measured. Malcolm X brought America face-to-face with her hypocrisy and obliterated all of her pretensions to morality. In the face of his unforgiving gaze and merciless rhetorical onslaught all of her grandiose declarations were torn asunder. He eviscerated her falsehoods and laid waste to her BS. In Malcolm X the despotic American Imperium had finally found a man it could neither buckle nor buy. And that so ferocious an indictment of her iniquities came gift-wrapped in one so mellifluous in his eloquence and so magnetic in his charm must constitute the most shattering coup de grace any satanic civilisation has ever been delivered.

21st February 2015 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Malcolm X assassination and we are calling on Louis Farrakhan to publish all of the NOI’s files and records, in full and without alteration, on the five known assassins of Malcolm X: William X Bradley, Leon Davis, Talmadge Hayer, Albert Benjamin Thomas and Wilbert McKinney. In addition, we are calling on Mr Farrakhan to make available to the public all of the NOI’s files and records on former Fruit of Islam (FOI) lieutenant Agurs Linward X Cathcart. We are also appealing to President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to publish all US federal government files and records, without alteration or redaction, relating to the 1965 crime.

"My father didn't know his last name. My father got his last name from his grandfather and his grandfather got it from his grandfather who got it from the slavemaster. The real names of our people were destroyed during slavery. The last name of my forefathers was taken from them when they were brought to America and made slaves, and then the name of the slavemaster was given, which we refuse, we reject that name today and refuse it. I never acknowledge it whatsoever."

In an interview on Chicago TV with Jim Hurlbut, Malcolm X describes his early childhood and explains that his house was burned down by the Klan and that they murdered his father.
Mr. Hurlbut: You were born in Omaha, is that right?
Malcolm X: Yes, sir.
Mr. Hurlbut: And you left -- your family left Omaha when you were about one year old?
Malcolm X: I imagine about a year old.
Mr. Hurlbut: And why did they leave Omaha?
Malcolm X: Well, to my understanding the Ku Klux Klan burned one of their homes in Omaha. There's a lot of Ku Klux Klan--
Mr. Hurlbut: They made your family feel very unhappy, I'm sure.
Malcolm X: Well, insecure, if not unhappy.
Mr. Hurlbut: So you must have a somewhat prejudiced point of view -- a personally prejudiced point of view. In other words, you cannot look at this in a broad, academic sort of way, really, can you?
Malcolm X: I think that's incorrect, because despite the fact that that happened in Omaha and then when moved to Lansing, Michigan our home was burned down again -- in fact, my father was killed by the Ku Klux Klan, and despite all of that, no one was more thoroughly integrated with whites than I. No one has lived more so in the society of whites than I.

http://malcolmxfiles.blogspot.com/
Clark: Reverend Martin Luther King preaches a doctrine of non-violent insistence upon the rights of the American Negro. What is your attitude toward this philosophy?
Malcolm X: The white man pays Reverend Martin Luther King, subsidizes Reverend Martin Luther King, so that Reverend Martin Luther King can continue to teach the Negroes to be defenseless. That's what you mean by non-violent: be defenseless. Be defenseless in the face of one of the most cruel beasts that has ever taken a people into captivity. That's this American white man. And they have proved it throughout the country by the police dogs and the police clubs.
A hundred years ago they used to put on a white sheet and use a bloodhound against Negroes. Today they've taken off the white sheet and put on police uniforms, they've traded in the bloodhounds for police dogs, and they're still doing the same thing. And just as Uncle Tom, back during slavery, used to keep the Negroes from resisting the bloodhound, or resisting the Ku Klux Klan, by teaching them to love their enemy, or pray for those who use them spitefully, today Martin Luther King is just a 20th century or modern Uncle Tom, or a religious Uncle Tom, who is doing the same thing today, to keep Negroes defenseless in the face of an attack, that Uncle Tom did on the plantation to keep those Negroes defenseless in the face of the attacks of the Klan in that day.
Clark: But the goal of Dr. King is full equality --
Malcolm X: No.
Clark: ... and full rights of citizenship for Negroes.
Malcolm X: No. The goal of Dr. Martin Luther King is to give Negroes a chance to sit in a segregated restaurant beside the same white man who had brutalized them for 400 years. The goal of Dr. Martin Luther King is to get Negroes to forgive the people who have brutalized them for 400 years by lulling them to sleep, and making them forgetting what those whites have done to them. But the masses of black people in America today don't go for what Martin Luther King is putting down. As you said in one of your articles, it's psychologically insecure, or something of that sort -- I forget how you put it. But you didn't endorse what Martin Luther King was doing yourself.
Clark: I do not reject his goals, of full integration and full equality rights for American citizens. Do you reject these goals?
Malcolm X: If you don't think that he's walking on the right road, I'm quite sure that you don't agree that he'll get to the right place. And if you would classify his method as "psychologically unrealistic" -- I think that if a man's method is psychologically unrealistic, which means that the road or the means or the method that he's using, I think that, as a psychologist, you'd be very doubtful that he would reach the right goals.

"I probably am a dead man already. When you understand the makeup of the Muslim movement and the psychology of the Muslim movement, as long as any—I myself, by having confidence in the leader of the Muslim movement, if someone came to me and I had no knowledge whatsoever of what had taken place, and they told me what I'm saying, I would kill them, myself. The only thing that would prevent me from killing someone who made a statement like this, they would have to be able to let me know that it's true. Now if anyone had come to me other than Mr. Muhammad's son, I never would have believed it even enough to look into it. But I had been around him so closely, I had seen indications of it—of its—of the reality of it, but my religious sincerity made me block it out of my mind."

http://malcolmxfiles.blogspot.com/
I think that any black man who teaches black people to turn the other cheek and suffer peacefully after they’ve been turning the cheek and suffering peacefully for 400 years in a land of bondage, under the most cruel, inhuman and wicked slave master that any people have ever been under, he is doing those people an injustice, and he’s a traitor to his own people. Nobody should teach the black man in America to turn the other cheek, unless someone is teaching the white man in America to turn the other cheek. And no one should advocate any peaceful suffering to black people, unless the white man is going to practice the same kind of peaceful suffering. What Martin Luther King is doing is disarming the black people of America of their God-given right and of their natural right. And the law of nature gives a man the right to defend himself when he’s attacked. And God’s law itself gives a man the right to defend himself when he’s attacked. So, peaceful suffering and passive resistance and all of that stuff is all right maybe in India somewhere, where the people in India outnumber the whites about a million to one. But here in America, when you tell a—that’s like an elephant sitting down on a mouse—in India with Gandhi. But in America you have the mouse now trying to sit down on the elephant, thinking that he’s going somewhere, and it’s absurd.
Having an opportunity to ride either on the front or the back or in the middle of someone else’s bus doesn’t dignify you. When you have your own bus, then you have dignity. When you have your own school, you have dignity. When you have your own country, you have dignity. When you have something of your own, you have dignity. But whenever you are begging for a chance to participate in that which belongs to someone else, or use that which belongs to someone else, on an equal basis with the owner, that’s not dignity. That’s ignorance. If I may add, for instance, King and these others will say that they are fighting for the Negro to have equal job opportunity. How can a group of people, such as our people, who own no factories, have equal job opportunities competing against a race that owns the factories? The only way the two can have equal job opportunities is if black people have factories as well as white people have factories. And then we can employ whites or we can employ blacks, just like they can employ whites or they can employ blacks. But as long as the factories are in the hands of the whites, the housing is in the hands of the whites, the school system is in the hands of the whites, you have a situation where the blacks are constantly begging the whites, can they use this or can they use that. That’s not any kind of equality of opportunity, nor does it lend toward one’s dignity.
