The Beautiful Black Mountains of Carmarthenshire. January 2014.
After my home County has been battered by terrible storms recently, it was a pleasant change to have a sunny calm day with blue skies. So to get away from the coast, I took my family out for a run in the car over the beautiful Black Mountain Range in Carmarthenshire. The views were stunning, so I hope you enjoy this brief glimpse of this part of Wales that I'm proud to call home. All footage is hand held. *** The music track is 'Enchantment' by Mike Stobbie fro the YouTube Audio Swap collection **- published: 11 Jan 2014

Gwili Railway, Carmarthenshire (getting up steam since 1961)
Featured in Keira Knightley's film 'The Edge of Love', Gwili Steam Railway is a great piece of history near our Carmarthenshire Holiday Cottages. (www.qualitycottages.co.uk/carmarthenshire/holiday-cottages-carmarthenshire) Polly, our roving reporter met with Jeremy, one of the team of incredible volunteers who preserve this standard gauge railway. Jeremys' enthusiasm is infectious. Whether a steam railway fan or not, we are sure his cheerful narrative will draw visitors to its platforms from our holiday cottages in Carmarthenshire. Quality Cottages short films aim to show those holidaying in Wales the unique things to see and great people to meet. We wish to show the story behind an attraction to add an extra flavour to a visit. Preservation of this piece of history and the passion for Gwili railway is abundantly clear in Jerermys' narrative. "That's the thing about Wales really, we talk until the cows come home (..) we're very sociable people" The track starts at Bronwydd (near Carmarthen) in South Wales, and travels along a short section of the former Carmarthen to Aberystwyth railway line. A steep climb out of Bronwydd village, travels through open fields and wooded hills, hugging the River Gwili all the while. A round trip takes about an hour. You can travel on the train all day for the price of one ticket. There are even opportunities to take a ride on a miniature railway and make use of a beautiful and tranquil picnic spot beside the river. Dogs are allowed to travel on the floor of the train. Round off your trip with a visit to the museum, well stocked shop, station building, signal box and the Gwili Tea Room. "The railways first arrived in Carmarthen in 1860 and can you imagine how people must have felt in those days. I suppose today it would be the equivalent of someone landing from the moon." Says Jeremy. If you would like to blow off some steam on the Gwili Steam Railway book a Carmarthenshire holiday cottage www.qualitycottages.co.uk/carmarthenshire/holiday-cottages-carmarthenshire.php To enjoy the very best Carmarthenshire holiday cottages visit our website, call us on 01348 837831 or email us reserve@qualitycottages.co.uk ------------------------------------------ Quality Cottages is a family owned holiday company with over 300 hand-picked quality holiday cottages throughout Wales. Shipwrecks Found On Carmarthenshire's Cefn Sidan Beach After Storms
The January storms have exposed three shipwrecks on Cefn Sidan beach in Carmarthenshire. It is thought they date from the 18th or 19th Century when it was a popular but treacherous shipping route. Festival of Transport, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire - 25 & 26/08/2013
On a gloriously sunny Sunday morning I was invited to video the Festival of Transport Show, held at the Festival Fields Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, West Wales over the August Bank Holiday weekend...the 25 & 26th August 2013. There was a wide range of vehicles on show, as well as those seen in this video, there were buses, a fairground, and a car boot sale...something for everyone!. This is the first time this venue has been used for this event, so let's hope for a great success, and that it returns again in the future.- published: 25 Aug 2013

Driving through Burry Port, Carmarthenshire in 1989
Vintage footage of a journey through Burry Port in 1989, 25 years ago. This was before the Southern By Pass, the Carmarthen Bay Power Station was still there, no road bumps, driving past Roberts Coaches and the route through the town was different to what you have now. The quality of this upload is not to the standard you get with modern equipment, but I hope you enjoy the content.- published: 24 Mar 2014
