Michael James "Mike" Murphy is an Irish broadcaster, actor and property developer. He is best known for his long broadcasting career with RTÉ, presenting many TV shows such as The Live Mike, Winning Streak and The Big Interview.
Murphy was born in Dublin on 20 October 1941. He was the eldest of five children born to Ned and Kitty Murphy. He was educated at St. Louis National School, Terenure College, Synge Street CBS and Coláiste Mhuire.
Murphy worked as a draper in a Dublin drapery shop, before finding a job with the Castrol Oil Company. He later became involved in acting with the Dublin Shakespeare Society and wrote scripts for sponsored programmes on Radio Éireann. He later joined the Brendan Smith Academy of Acting in Dublin where his acting took him all over Europe. He also went on to play a small part in The Girl with Green Eyes, the film of the novel by Edna O'Brien.
This led him to further acting parts in a number of films on the newly-established Telefís Éireann.
Mike Murphy (born September 25, 1944) is an American football coach who held a variety of defensive coaching positions a the college and professional levels of the sport over a period of four decades, starting in 1970.
Murphy was the defensive line coach for the University of Vermont from 1970 to 1973 and Idaho State University from 1974 to 1975. He became the defensive coordinator for Idaho State in 1976. He was the linebackers coach at Western Illinois from 1977 to 1978 before becoming the defensive coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League from 1979 to 1983. In 1984 he was the defensive line coach for the Chicago Blitz of the United States Football League.
Murphy coached the linebackers for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League from 1985 to 1989. He was the inside linebackers coach for the Phoenix Cardinals from 1990 to 1993. He was a pro personnel executive for the Carolina Panthers in 1994. He was a LB coach for the Seattle Seahawks from 1995 to 1997.

Plot: Once in the life (of drug dealing and organized crime), can anyone get out? During a brief jail stay, two half-brothers, who have rarely seen each other while growing up, connect. Plot: "The Fighting 69th" is a First World War regiment of mostly New York-Irish soldiers. Amongst a cocky crew, perhaps the cockiest is Jerry Plunkett, a scrappy fellow who looks out only for himself. The officers and non-coms of the regiment do their best to instill discipline in Plunkett, and the chaplain, Father Duffy, tries to make Plunkett see the greater good, all to no avail. Behind the lines or in the trenches, Plunkett acts selfishly and cowardly, eventually costing the lives of many of his fellow soldiers. A final act of cowardice leads to terrible consequences, but Plunkett sees in them a chance to redeem himself...if only he can.
