Historians Claim They've Found The Holy Grail
Historians claim holy grail found in Spanish church. Spanish historians claim they've discovered the 2,000-year-old Holy Chalice, the biblical cup that Jesus Christ used during the Last Supper. Margarita Torres, a medieval history lecturer at León University and Jose Ortiza del Rio, an art historian, penned a new book claiming that years of research has led them to conclude that Christ's chalice is somehow inside a medieval goblet that has been on display in Spain for 1,000 years. Who should claim the remittance basis? - Part 1 Income under £2,000 If your overseas income and capital gains are less than £2,000 you have nothing to lose by using the remittance basis. If you're a higher-rate taxpayer this will let you save up to £799.60 per year in tax. Income between £2,000 and £11,339 If you have between £2,000 and £11,339 in income and capital gains you should consider keeping £1,999 overseas where it will be tax free. That leaves income of up to £9,440 This should be brought back into the UK where you will pay tax on it. What's so significant about £9,440? That's the amount of the income tax personal allowance which you will lose for the 2013/14 tax year if you decide to keep your money offshore and claim the remittance basis. Income over £11,339 If you earn more than £11,339 whether you should claim the remittance basis depends on how long you've been UK resident. Why Do People Believe in Pseudoscience, Superstition, Alien Abductions, the Apocalypse? (2000)
Why Do People Believe in Pseudoscience, Superstition, Alien Abductions, the Apocalypse? (2000)
Pseudoscience is a claim, belief, or practice which is presented as scientific, but does not adhere to a valid scientific method, lacks supporting evidence or plausibility, cannot be reliably tested, or otherwise lacks scientific status. Pseudoscience is often characterized by the use of vague, contradictory, exaggerated or unprovable claims, an over-reliance on confirmation rather than rigorous attempts at refutation, a lack of openness to evaluation by other experts, and a general absence of systematic processes to rationally develop theories. A field, practice, or body of knowledge can reasonably be called pseudoscientific when it is presented as consistent with the norms of scientific research, but it demonstrably fails to meet these norms.[2] Science is also distinguishable from revelation, theology, or spirituality in that it offers insight into the physical world obtained by empirical research and testing.[3] Commonly held beliefs in popular science may not meet the criteria of science.[4] "Pop science" may blur the divide between science and pseudoscience among the general public, and may also involve science fiction.[4] Pseudoscientific beliefs are widespread, even among public school science teachers and newspaper reporters.[5] The demarcation problem between science and pseudoscience has ethical political implications, as well as philosophical and scientific issues.[6] Differentiating science from pseudoscience has practical implications in the case of health care, expert testimony, environmental policies, and science education.[7] Distinguishing scientific facts and theories from pseudoscientific beliefs such as those found in astrology, medical quackery, and occult beliefs combined with scientific concepts, is part of science education and scientific literacy.[8] The term pseudoscience is often considered inherently pejorative, because it suggests something is being inaccurately or even deceptively portrayed as science. Accordingly, those labeled as practicing or advocating pseudoscience usually dispute the characterization. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudoscience Superstition is a pejorative term for belief in supernatural causality: that one event leads to the cause of another without any natural process linking the two events, such as astrology, religion, omens, witchcraft, etc., that contradicts natural science.[1] Opposition to superstition was a central concern of the intellectuals during the 18th century Age of Enlightenment. The philosophes at that time ridiculed any belief in miracles, revelation, magic, or the supernatural, as "superstition," and typically included as well much of Christian doctrine.[2] The word superstition is often used pejoratively to refer to religious practices (e.g., Voodoo) other than the one prevailing in a given society (e.g., Christianity in western culture), although the prevailing religion may contain just as many superstitious beliefs.[1] It is also commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luck, prophecy and spiritual beings, particularly the belief that future events can be foretold by specific unrelated prior events.[3] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superstition The terms alien abduction or abduction phenomenon describe "subjectively real memories of being taken secretly against one's will by apparently nonhuman entities and subjected to complex physical and psychological procedures". People claiming to have been abducted are usually called "abductees" or "experiencers". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_abduction- published: 02 Sep 2013
