Roger Garrett is an English former professional snooker player.
Garrett turned professional in 1992. In his first season, he reached the last 64 at the 1993 Asian Open; in qualifying, he had beaten eight players, including a 5–3 defeat of Rod Lawler in the last 96. Garrett was eliminated by Ken Doherty, who whitewashed him 5–0.
In the 1993/1994 season, Garrett again reached the last 64 at one ranking event, on this occasion the 1993 Grand Prix. He defeated Elliott Clark 5–3, Yasin Merchant 5–4, Paul Gibson 5–1, Jimmy Michie 5–2 and Tony Chappel 5–0, to face the Canadian Alain Robidoux. In their match, Garrett led 4–3, but Robidoux prevailed 4–5, winning the deciding frame with a break of 97.
The 1994/1995 season brought mild success, but also proved to be Garrett's last as a professional. He lost to Mark Bennett in the last 48 at the 1994 European Open, and at the 1995 International Open, beat Andrew Peters, Mehmet Husnu and Stephen Lee to qualify for the last 64.
However, shortly before his scheduled match against Dave Harold, Garrett was reported missing from his hotel room in Bournemouth, having left only his cue and dress-suit behind. Apparently suffering from stress brought on by the loneliness and pressure of life as a professional snooker player, Garrett withdrew from the following tournament, the 1995 Thailand Open, where he had reached the last 32 but had been selected to play in the wildcard round.
Garrett may refer to:
Garrett is a player character and the protagonist of the stealth games series Thief. The character was introduced in Thief: The Dark Project in 1998. Multiple publications praised his character as one of top antiheroes in video games and even as one of the gaming's best characters overall.
As a child, Garrett was recruited into the Keepers but later left the organization, went into business for himself as a thief, and now uses his Keeper skills to steal from the rich and give to himself.
In Thief: Deadly Shadows a large scar runs down one side of his face, the result of Viktoria plucking out one of his eyes in Thief: The Dark Project. During the second and third games Garrett sees with a mechanical eye, a piece of Mechanist technology given to him by the Hammerites at the end of The Dark Project. The mechanical eye incorporates a zoom lens. At the end of Thief: Deadly Shadows, Garrett catches hold of a small child trying to pick his pocket, and their conversation is almost identical to that between his mentor Artemus and child Garrett.
Garrett (first name and dates unknown) was an English cricketer who played for Kent during the 1750s.
Garrett is first mentioned in the report of the Kent v Surrey game at Dartford Brent on Friday, 6 July 1750. He then played for Kent against All-England in the two matches at the Artillery Ground in May 1751.
As Garrett had established his reputation by 1750, he must have been active for some years previously. His career probably spanned the 1740s and 1750s when very few players were mentioned by name in contemporary reports.
Dance 'til Dawn is a 1988 made for television teen movie directed by Paul Schneider.
It's the day of the senior prom at Herbert Hoover High School. The prom has been organized by the one of the most popular girls at the school, the beautiful but obnoxious Patrice Johnson (Christina Applegate).
When Shelley Sheridan (Alyssa Milano) and her jock boyfriend Kevin McCrea (Brian Bloom) break up just before the prom because she refuses to sleep with him, they are both forced to try and find new dates at short notice.
When Shelley can't find a new date, she lies to her friends and tells them that she is going to a college frat party instead. In fact she goes to the town cinema to watch an old horror movie, where she assumes that she will not run into anyone from school. But she bumps into Dan Lefcourt (Chris Young), one of the school geeks, who has also gone to the cinema to avoid the prom. Dan has lied to his father (Alan Thicke), telling him that he was going to the prom because he didn't want his father to find out that he has a low social status at school and couldn't get a date. Dan helps Shelley avoid being seen by another group of students, and she soon discovers that he is a really nice guy.
Roger is a masculine given name and a surname.
Roger may also refer to:
Roger (died in or after 1350) was a churchman based in the 14th century Kingdom of Scotland, and active as Bishop of Ross from 1325 until 1350. Before attaining this position, Roger was a canon of Abernethy; it is possible that Roger was an Augustinian, because it is often thought that Abernethy did not become a collegiate church until some time after 1328, after the marriage of the Abernethy heiress to the Earl of Angus; this however is not certain, as the exact details of Abernethy's transition from being an Céli Dé abbey (until c. 1272–1273) to an Augustinian priory to a secular college are only vaguely understood.
It was as a canon of Abernethy that, on 17 April 1325, he was issued papal provision to the diocese of Ross, vacant by the death of Thomas de Dundee. Roger was consecrated by Cardinal Guillaume Pierre Godin, Bishop of Sabina, at the papal curia sometime before 19 May. Bishop Roger witnessed several royal charters during his episcopate. He witnessed a charter at Edinburgh on 4 March 1328; at Arbroath on 17 June 1341; and at Scone on 4 July 1342, and another (location not specified) on 4 July 1342. Bishop Roger resigned the bishopric "for reasonable cause" at the papal curia on or sometime before 3 November 1350, when Alexander Stewart was provided in his place; Roger cannot be traced after that.
