Mohammadreza Aligholi was born in Tehran (1960), he started to study music (composition and playing the Trombone) with the Bulgarian Wanku Najdnof at the age of 14. A few years Later he made his first compositions for tv series and stage acts. Today, he is an established composer who won numerous awards. He has written the scores of more than 140 movies including 'Nargess' which brought him the award for best soundtrack at the 10th Int'l Fajr Film Festival in Tehran. Among his other compositions are 'Rastkhiz' Overture on Rumi' poems, 'Nocturnal Songs' suite for 5 cello and soprano, '7 Pieces' for seven flutes, 'Love Seemed Easy' Overture for choir and percussion, Earth Whisper and Gypsy Moon. This piece is a free interpretation of the 'Zaar' as performed in Qeshm. I tried to maintain of the originality and integrity of the ceremony as far as musical from is concerned. Vocals and percussion are the main musical elements in the original ceremony, whereas I have added strings and wind instruments as we colors to my own interpretation. The 'Zaar', to me, symbolizes an image of the great circle of life: from birth to death, and the effort toward rebirth. ** The unique nature and culture of the fascinating Island of Qeshm (in the Persian Gulf) with its strong influences from Iranian, Arabic as well as East-African Traditions is the main theme in the production of an Album based on Qeshm's musical textures, traditions, culture and nature. Mohammad Reza Aligholi, Saeed Ansari, Christophe Rezai, Peter Soleimanipour, Reza Asgarzadeh, Ali Boustan, Farhad As'adian & Karan Homayounfar have depicted their own interpretation on this theme, resulting in the production of the Qeshm project.
