With the storms changing away from high winds to greater water deposits, rivers are more than ever a source of overflowing water, as can be seen here at Blue Anchor's caravan park.. The popular Driftwood Café ( now celebrating 80 years in service!) is free of flooding I am glad to say but sitting on the seats outdoors is not very attractive at the moment! They now have proper double glazing rather than plastic sheeting in the covered outdoor area.- published: 04 Jan 2014

Some areas of Somerset flooded for the last 10 months
The Telegraph's Andrew Giligan visits North Curry in Somerset and speaks to a residents who's home has been uninhabitable for 14 of the last 21 months. As the Environment Agency continues to issue severe flood warnings, the Telegraph's Andrew Giligan speaks to residents in one of Somerset's worst affected areas, North Curry. Resident Keith Madge has been suffering with flood waters for ten out of the last 13 months. "You just don't hear from anybody, the environment agency, the town council, no one at all. "So, it makes you think, does anyone really care. They've flooded my house, because they haven't maintained the rivers and dredge them. "They're going to have to make a decision one way or the other, is this area for people to live in, or for the wildlife?" For Keith Madge, it will be nearly Easter, at the earliest, before the waters go down. And even the plan put forward by the locals envisages that some residents and farmers may have to "relocate". This is a video of a few shots i got at the West Somerset Railway Spring Steam gala on 27th March 2014. We see in this video the guest engines in many different locations running at the gala. We start off with 34007 Wadebridge running on the Ballast goods at church bridge. Moving up the line we see 34070 Manston on passager service at Nova Bridge. We next see 4160 on the goods at Leigh woods. Moving to the coast now where we see 31806 at a unknown crossing near Dunster follow by 34070 Manston heading the other way. The Somerset Barn Owl Project Ringing
This is film is produced by Olly Jelley. And shows the ringing/banding of the most famous Barn Owlets in the World. As part of the Somerset Community Barn Owl Project run between Hawk and Owl Trust and Somerset Wildlife Trust the webcam has enthralled people from all over World taking this Barn Owl project on to the global stage. The pair of Owls that are present owe their success to the surrounding land owners who have voluntarily left edges of fields as long rough grasslands, therefore unmanaged. This has led to the rise in small mammals numbers, and of course has meant that Boris and Brenda the Barn Owls have not only been able to establish a territory but also rear 6 of their 7 Owlets. Special thanks to Olly Jelley for producing this video, and to both Somerset Wildlife Trust and Hawk and Owl Trust. And not forgetting thanks for the cope ration of the British Trust for Ornitholoy (BTO).
