BACKGROUND In 2012, Putin announced the world that he's working on the establishment of a union of federations as response on former Soviet states who filed a membership to the EU. Many of these former Soviet states formed once the Warshaw Pact, so Russia's previous alliance treaty and also led by Moscow. Now, Putin want such alliance back but under his control. And again with threats, blackmail and invasion as Moscow did in Czechoslovakia and in Hungary in the previous century. However - and that is what the pro-Russians not seems to know - is that Putin's new alliance does not give the member states the right to have a say in foreign affairs and defense politics. This means that (new) members of Putin's union of federation can never represent themselves as real sovereign states. So, pro-Russians may have the right to believe that it is about their own choice of any form of autonomy or independence. For Putin they are not the issue. It's all bringing back the former Soviet states under his control. Putin have always seen Ukraine is his key member. That is why he pressed Yanukovych not to sign a trade deal with the EU. But the majority of the Ukrainians thought different and urged their leader to sign. He didn't because of repressive autocratic ruler in Moscow.. For the Ukrainians it was clear: Yanukovych seems to rule on behalf of Putin. They wanted him out. The Maidan protest was born. And so began in January 2014 the Ukrainian Revolution. During the first two weeks in February 2014, Putin saw his key member Ukraine drifting away from him. In a anger response he decided to break with the Budapest Agreement which is meant to ensure Ukraine's sovereignty and independence. The claim, the conquest, the seizure and the annexation of Crimea are the result. During that operation, Russian intelligence were send to East Ukraine to instigate divisions and to encourage the people to seek for the same as they did with Crimeans. The world is witnessing what happened since then. Odessa not far away from the so called independent seeking Transnistria in Moldavia, is Putin's third target because of its (also) military strategic location. So, it's not really about Yanukovich who refuse to listen to his people nor it is about the Maidan protest in Kiev. And, nor it is about the interim government in Kiev, nor it is about the self-ruling in Crimea and East Ukraine really. It's all about one single individual as we see in Syria: Putin who rules, not govern the Russian Federation (Russia is not the official recognized name): just one single man Now, Putin is even going from bad to worse by labeling the West as Nazi's and fascists while his "union of federations" - by blackmail, pressure and even invasion - is like what the Nazi's did when they dreamed about their Reich, now Putin's dream of his Reich
