A Dove Award is an accolade by the Gospel Music Association (GMA) of the United States to recognize outstanding achievement in the Christian music industry. The awards are presented at an annual ceremony called the GMA Dove Awards. Formerly, the ceremony took place in Nashville, Tennessee, but since 2011 the ceremony has been held in Atlanta, Georgia. The ceremonies feature live musical performances and are broadcast on the Gospel Music Channel.
The awards were established in 1969, and represent a variety of musical styles, including rock, pop, hip hop, country, and urban.
The Dove Awards were originally conceptualized by Gospel singer and songwriter Bill Gaither, at a Gospel Music Association board meeting in 1968. The idea of the award being represented by a dove is credited to Gaither and design for the award itself is credited to gospel singer Les Beasley. The first GMA Dove Awards were held at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee in October 1969. In 1971, the awards moved to Nashville, Tennessee.

After starting his career in the late 1980s as a singer/songwriter of contemporary Christian music, Chapman has since been recognized as one of the most prolific singers in the genre, releasing more than 20 albums to date. Chapman has also won five Grammy awards and 56 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, more than any other artist in history. His seven "Artist of the Year" Dove Awards, his latest in 2009, are also an industry record. As of 2007, Chapman has sold more than 10 million albums and has 8 RIAA-certified Gold or Platinum albums.

Together, they have started a charity organization called Show Hope (formerly called Shaohannah's Hope), that mobilizes individuals and communities to care for orphans through its international orphan care work as well as adoption aid grants to help put more orphans from overseas and the U.S. in loving, forever families. In 2009, Show Hope finished building Maria's Big House of Hope, a medical care center in China that provides holistic care to orphans with special needs. He is also a contributor to Compassionart, a charity founded by Martin Smith of British rock band Delirious?.

Sandra Faye "Sandi" Patty (born July 12, 1956) is an American Christian music singer. For many years she was known as Sandi Patti. She has been dubbed "The Voice" by critics because of her wide range and flexibility.
Patty was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, into a family of musicians; her father was a minister of music and her mother served as the church pianist. She first performed at the age of two when she sang "Jesus Loves Me" for her church, Phoenix First Church of God (Anderson, Indiana). First growing up in Phoenix, then San Diego, she and her brothers joined her parents in a performing group, known as "The Ron Patty Family," and sang at churches across the nation during summer holidays. After high school graduation from Crawford High in San Diego, CA, she attended San Diego State University and Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana, where she studied voice and conducting. While studying at Anderson University, she worked as a studio musician for area recording studios, singing background vocals and recording commercial jingles, including one for Juicy Fruit gum. Her reputation as a performer and studio singer grew during the late 1970s, and it was during this time that she initiated contact with legendary Christian musician, Bill Gaither.
Dreams are, the building blocks of my heart and my soul
The meeting unfolds, hoping that my story is told
Driftin, with eyes closed but seeing the deeper meaning
Of what I want in life, precisely when I'm dreaming
It's so misleading, but yet I gotta follow through
Holdin true to myself in rhythm is what I wanna do
Searchin, through Bible verses, books in the Koran
Lookin for the meaning of life and the essence of all
Deeper than the waters at the bottom of the Earth
The sermon the preacher's quotes Sunday morning at the Church
Breaking down the layers to the molecular level
Breaking atoms like Oppenheimer playin wit heavy metals
My dreams be the key to it all, I'm readin the stars
Rippin the pillow tight while I'm feelin the fall
Sensations takin me over, I'm sweatin until I'm sober
Eyes wide shut, I scream touchin my shoulder
Dreams…be the personal things
That reside in my mind at the core of my bein
Things are never what they seem so I'm telling Akin
Hold true son, better believe
I quoted some words Wordsworth hope to the Earth
A poet sparked the vision that I wrote for this verse
I'm dreamin, broad daylight I'm battling demons
Sun is shinin I'm bent for disguise I'm screamin
Wailin, like a nappy dread, it's matter fact he said
I'm quotin a box tryna pick locks I'm desperate
The son of circumstance I dance in a rave and
My thoughts are the world my pain is entertainment
Lucrative plots I scheme while this fugitive not
On Mt. Zion where we meet program wit a cop
This futuristic bliss fist gunnin this pen in the air
I dare lyricists that wish to take it there
I'm here, OK can rap style with the Lugar out
Squeeze and we shoot it out
Got niggaz movin out
A bitch made approachin the mic with a switch blade
This day and age I rage against the skits made
I'm caught in this pocket of start
While the clones bark and broadcasted
And I fought to get my own spot
I'm the beauty in belly of beast
No me creer?an si digo que te so??..
Y cada d?a fue tan largo,
y en la soledad no hab?a nada que perder.
Y cada d?a es un paso,
Mikrogolfoond mense marseer
wanbegrip, wanbalans, wanbeheer
Weggedraai
met die son op hul rue
Ek verkies die son op my gesig
Ek sal nooit weer terug gaan nie
Ek sal nooit weer terug gaan nie
Ek sal julle nooit tevrede
Tevrede stel nie
Hou jou kop vas
Die probleem is net dat
ek nie weet wie ek is nie
Hierdie kan nog lank vat
Hierdie kan nog seermaak
Kan ons maak of ons vir ewig kan leef
sal ons, ons geheime boodskappe vergeet
Fluister kliphard
Speel so sag as wat jy kan
Soen so veel as wat jy wil
Soen so veel as wat jy wil
Hou my net vas
Die werklikheid is dat
ek nie weet wie ek is nie
Hierdie gaan nog lank vat
Hierdie gaan nog seermaak
Kan ons maak of ons vir ewig kan leef
sal ons, ons geheime boodskappe vergeet
Fluister kliphard
Speel so sag as wat jy kan
Soen so veel as wat jy wil
Soen so veel as wat jy wil
Soen so veel as wat jy wil
Soen so veel as wat jy wil
This pressure pushing down on me is wearing me fucking
thin. I’ve seen this dreadful place before and I can
survive it once again. This rage is taking over me as it
pulses through my veins. But images of defiant systems
are what my mind contains. Confide in me your darkest
fears and insecurities. We’ll break these chains of self-
indulgence, conformity, and greed. They try to chain me
down by feeding me their lies. But they wont get the best
