Travelling in Indonesia
Travelling by car, railway and boat from Java to Bali is a real adventure. Java is very crowded (more than 90 million people on Java only!)
I produced the musictrack special for this video, and is inspired by Javanese and Balinese music.

Kampung yang Tenggelam
Kampung yang Tenggelam (the Sinking Village) is the first video from Belkastrelka. The song is taken from track number 9 in Belkastrelka's album "Bela Bangsa". The idea is about corruption, that soon followed by disaster. The characters inspired by "wayang kulit/shadow puppet" of Javanese traditional performance. The Story is also inspired from Javanese mythology "Baru Klinting". The Story is about a dragon who refused by his father (human), and he meditated by encircling the mountain, hope he will accepted by his father as a son . After several years the villager who live near the mountain, found his body. They gathered, kill the dragon, take the meat and have the party. In the next morning there was a ugly child beg for food to the villager, but the villager ignore him and angrily throw him out of the village. Then the child stuck a stick to the ground and said "who can pull the stick from the ground will have a prize". No villager can't pull the stick, but the child can easily pull the stick. After pull the stick, the water comes from the hole where the stick was stuck. The water grow bigger and bigger untill the village complete flooded by water.
the idea is about the disaster that came because people take something that not belong to them, It could be a corruption or just blind exploitation of natural source

ARYO+SARAS [CINEMATIC WEDDING TRAILER]
I have always found traditional Indonesian weddings fascinating. While our country is made up of different ethnic groups with various customs and traditions, we can always count on the same captivating mixtures of colors, joy and solemnity. Traditional weddings are often rich in symbolism and when we absorb the meaning of it all, that’s when weddings become emotional for everyone, not only for the bride and groom and their families, but also for the attendance, as well as the
people – such as myself – who are privileged to witness the start of a couple’s new journey together.
Today I’d like to share with you one of my favorite Javanese weddings. It’s of Aryo and Saras.
There are many rituals of a Javanese wedding that I find interesting – such as “siraman” which is one of the first rituals done to prepare the couple for the ceremonies. It means “to bathe” and is meant to cleanse the couples’ bodies and souls; the ritual of “Wiji Dadi” where the groom breaks an egg with his right foot to symbolize that he is ready to become a responsible husband and father, and where the bride cleanses his foot with water mixed with several types of fragrant flowers as a symbol of her dedication and faithfulness to him. But what I especially enjoyed – especially in this wedding of Aryo and Saras – is the ritual of “Sungkeman”. This is an emotional moment where the bride and the groom will ask their parents for forgiveness of their past sins and blessings to marry the person of their choice. Here they express their gratitude for raising them thus far and ask for their permission to be released from their houses to spend the rest of their lives with the good person that has won their hearts. It is truly an emotional moment, for both the couple and their parents. Their emotions filled the entire room as tears filled their eyes and happiness filled their hearts.
I hope you enjoy this video as much I enjoyed directing it. To Aryo and Saras – congratulations! Here’s to your happily ever after.
Cheers,
Garry V.

Rizki+Chindera - TERNYATA CINTA [Cinematic Wedding Trailer]
If there is one thing I’m proud of Indonesia, is its rich culture. We’re a collective group of people and we love celebrations, all of which involves a lot of people, a whole lot of preparation, beauty and fun that lasts for hours. So, there is never anything simple about traditional Indonesian weddings and I love that.
I’ve shared a traditional Javanese wedding here sometime ago. This time I would like to show you another traditional wedding from a different ethnicity. This time it’s a traditional Padang wedding. My eyes were immediately drawn to all the gold embellishments there are in the wedding – the traditional costumes, the bride’s headpiece (a huge kudos to Chindera for wearing hers for that long!), the decorations – it was all so beautiful. Also, the asking of blessings from the parents who have raised the bride and groom, never fails to warm my heart and bring a few happy tears to my eyes. Beautiful!
For a couple like Rizky and Chindera, who have spent a great deal of their lives outside of Indonesia – building their lives and learning new things – it might be the next natural thing to opt for a more “international” and “simple” wedding. But they chose to go back to their roots, to begin their new lives together with the same traditions that raised them. I’m glad that I got to be a witness to the beauty of their start to the new journey.
Congratulations, Rizky and Chindera. May your journey be ever so sweet.
Cheers,
Garry V.
