Funeral services for the proposed Minimum Wage Increase in Virginia will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2007 in Richmond. Mourners will gather at the corner of Broad Street and 5th at 11:00 a.m. and join in a funeral procession beginning a 11:30 a.m. going to the Bell Tower in Capital Square with services at approximately 11:50 a.m. Pallbearers will be the working families and residents of the state who fought diligently for the bills passage in this years General Assembly.

The Minimum Wage Increase, which is a decade overdue, was killed on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in the State Capitol by the Virginia House of Delegates on a 53-43 procedural vote. This came despite the efforts of thousands of hard-working Virginians to raise the minimum wage for the first time in a decade and despite the fact that 29 other states have already increased their minimum wage.

Sometimes just a little incident or an impromptu remark brings home a point much better than paragraph after paragraph of journalistic commentary. To cut to the chase the subject is, as almost always these days, Iraq. Recently a non-commissioned soldier, a squad leader, I have known for a long time came back home from Iraq. As it turns out his unit is heading back for a second tour in the near future. That, however, is neither here nor there.

Saturday night, 11.50 PM, turned out to be a tragic time inside my residence.
Twenty minutes after this time, my mom was wailing and my dad & I stood silent, about to burst into tears.
It was an end of a journey for someone; a journey she led for nearly 50
years. Out of which, a considerable part, was spent in utter misery. It
was my Bua ji (paternal aunt), who stayed with us.

As a child, she was not welcome within her Grandpa’s house. However,
she battled it out. As she grew up, it was clear that she was suffering
from dwarfism,meaning her limbs and other body parts were smaller than her siblings.This was nothing less than a blow to the family. And if you are someone
who knows Indian people, you will know at how those oldies target
taunts and other unwanted comments at such cases.

India has lost a man who was one of the backbones of one of India’s Greatest Political Parties.Prominent Bharatiya Janta Party Leader Pramod Mahajan succumbed to death today at 4.10 in the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.He had been battling death for the past 12 days after being shot at point blank range by his younger brother Pravin Mahajan Himself. Politician or No, This man was and will be known for his Management Skills, he has brought BJP out of the worst cases of its life ….
