A high school (also secondary school, senior school, secondary college) is a school that provides adolescents with part or all of their secondary education. It may come after primary school or middle school and be followed by higher education or vocational training.
The term "high school" originated in Scotland, with the world's oldest high school being Edinburgh's Royal High School from 1505. The Royal High School was used as a model for the first public high school in the United States, Boston Latin School founded in Boston, Massachusetts.
The precise stage of schooling provided by a high school differs from country to country, and may vary within the same jurisdiction. In all of New Zealand and Malaysia, along with most of Britain and parts of Australia, Bangladesh and Canada, high school means the same thing as secondary school, but instead of starting in 9th grade, these "secondary schools" begin at ages 11 or 12.
In Australia, high school is a secondary school, from Year 7 or Year 8 through to Year 12, varying from state to state. High school immediately follows primary (elementary) school; therefore, a Year-7 Australian high-school student is sometimes as young as 12. In Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, the term "high school" generally refers to Years 7–10, whereas the term "College" is used for Years 11–12. In Victoria the term "secondary college" has largely replaced the term "high school" following the reforms of the Labor Government in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some schools have retained the name "high school" (such as Melbourne High School) and many have now dropped the "secondary" and are simply known as "college".
Rainier Beach High School is a public secondary school (grades 9-12) in the Seattle Public Schools system. It is located in the Rainier Beach area, in the southeastern part of the city of Seattle, Washington, United States. The school historically has had a strong emphasis on team sports, and many championship teams. The building has a capacity of 1,200 students, but enrollment has declined greatly in recent years. In 2006, 1,302 of the 1,600 high school students living in the Rainier Beach neighborhood traveled out of the area each morning to attend other high schools. In 2008-09, Rainier Beach began the year with 453 students and ended with about 295, giving an average monthly enrollment of 374. Sixty students chose it as their first choice. In 2013 the school began offering an International Baccalaureate program.
Rainier Beach is a set of neighborhoods in Seattle, Washington that are mostly residential. Also called Atlantic City, Rainier Beach can include Dunlap, Pritchard Island, and Rainier View neighborhoods.
The neighborhood is located in the far southeastern corner of the city along Lake Washington. Its primary arterials are Rainier and Renton Avenues South (northwest- and southeast-bound).
Neighborhood boundaries are informal and sometimes overlapping in Seattle; formal designations have not existed since 1910. Rainier Beach blends with the Rainier Valley neighborhood of Dunlap (also called Othello) on the north. On the east is Lake Washington, and the South Beacon Hill neighborhood lies to the west. South of Rainier Beach is Rainier View, bounded by South Bangor Street on the north and the city boundary on its south, east, and west. The Lakeridge and Skyway neighborhoods of unincorporated King County lie to the southeast and southwest, respectively, of Rainier View. The city of Tukwila abuts Rainier View on the west.

Miami Beach Senior High School (Beach High, MBSH) is a secondary school located at 2231 Prairie Avenue Miami Beach, Florida, directly around the corner from the Miami Beach Convention Center and Botanical Gardens on Prairie Avenue and Dade Boulevard. The school is located in Miami-Dade county and part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the fourth largest school district in the country. In addition, Miami Beach Senior High is the second oldest in Miami-Dade County (after Miami Senior High). In 2009, the school was recognized as a magnet school. In 2010, Miami Beach Senior High was recognized as an International Baccalaureate World School, meaning a select group of students get to attend a two-year program that allows them to graduate with a special diploma. The school was the first in the city to receive the designation.
The school's athletic rival is Miami Senior High.
Freedom Schools were temporary, alternative free schools for African Americans mostly in the South. They were originally part of a nationwide effort during the Civil Rights Movement to organize African Americans to achieve social, political and economic equality in the United States. The most prominent example of Freedom Schools was in Mississippi during the summer of 1964.
Despite the Supreme Court's ruling of 1954 in the Brown v. Board of Education case striking down segregated school systems, in the mid-1960s Mississippi still maintained separate and unequal white and "colored" school systems. On average, the state spent $81.66 to educate a white student compared to only $21.77 for a black child. Mississippi was one of only two states in the union that did not have a mandatory education law and many children in rural areas were sent to work in the fields and received little education at all. Even the curriculum was different for white and black. As a typical example, the white school board of Bolivar County mandated that "Neither foreign languages nor civics shall be taught in Negro schools. Nor shall American history from 1860 to 1875 be taught."

Rainier Beach vs. Garfield in a Metro League showdown. The Fans were turned away at the door because the gymnasium was full. There was electricity throughout the crowd as the home team Garfield trailed 16 to comeback in a 4th Qtr win over last years State Champions. Rainier Beach Alumni Nate Robinson and Garfield Alumni Desjuan Newton was jawing throughout the entire game. The City is already talking about Game 2 and with Nathan Hale in the mix it looks like the WIAA State 2017 Tournament will even more intense. Stay Tuned... Shabazz is a 6'1 left-handed sleek scoring guard who is wired to score. He has a slick handle, particularly his crossover, that allows him to break down the defense. In addition, he has an elite burst off the dribble to blow by defenders in transition or in the half court. His defense is what really separates his game from others. He can lock-down the best offensive player on the opposing team. Shadeed calls himself a groovy dude that Loves the GAME of Basketball. Filmed & Edited By: Al Ward Follow and stay connected.... Bubble gum and house parties
When you stole your parents rum
And tried to screw everything that could breathe
Back in high school we didn't have a whole lot to do
We watched the world go by on the television screen
Said it's the 90's kids that's way out this is way in
Go beat each other up on the dance floor
Told us drugs were no good
But then we smoked 'em and liked 'em
So much that we smoked a little more
We liked 'em so much, we smoked a little more
Did I call your name?
Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
You're so the same but your so different
I didn't recognize you
It's kinda hard with all that sexual confusion
Sometimes you don't know if you're gay or straight
But what's the difference, it's a wonderful illusion
Most times you won't make it past second base
I'm in a band, we kinda suck but we don't now it yet
And I don't care anyway
'Cuz soon, I'm gonna sell these drums, pay my rent
Support my kid and tell him all about way back in daddy's day
I'll tell him all about way back in daddy's day
Did I call your name?
Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
You're so the same but your so different
I didn't recognize you
Some years later by a soda coolerator
In a corner store back in my home town
This stranger smiles at me, said
"Remember the class of '93?"
And for some reason it makes him look real proud
After all the good times he said we had
He looks at me, scratches his head
And asked me where the hell I ever went
And the funny thing is that I never even knew him
But he coulda been any one of my high school friends
Did I call your name?
Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
Your so the same but your so different
I didn't recognize you
Did I call you name?
Singin' that song that I wrote for you
Singin' that song I wrote for you
