John Feeney (10 August 1922 – 6 December 2006) was a New Zealand-born director of documentary films. He worked with the New Zealand National Film Unit, National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and made films and did photography in Egypt. He was nominated for two Academy Awards.

Feeney was born in Ngaruawahia and attended at Victoria University. During the Second World War he served as a lieutenant in the Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve, escaping from Singapore and taking part in the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944. He then served as a research assistant with the War History Branch of the Navy Department in Wellington until 1948.

His New Zealand film credits include Legend of the Wanganui River and Hot Earth.

Feeney directed ten NFB productions 1954 to 1963, working most often with producer Tom Daly. Most of his NFB films focused on the Canadian Arctic and the Inuit.

In 1958, Feeney received his first nomination for an Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject for The Living Stone, about Inuit carving.[1]

Sascha Jacobsen (1895 – 1971 or 1972) was a Jewish-American violinist and teacher born in Russia. He grew up in St. Petersburg, then moved with his family to New York City as a teenager.

He graduated from Juilliard School in 1915 as a pupil of Franz Kneisel and upon graduation received the Morris Loeb Memorial Award. He belonged to the Musical Arts Quartet from 1927-33. Later he taught at Juilliard; among his pupils were Julius Hegyi and Zvi Zeitlin.

In the 1950s Jacobsen served as concertmaster in the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Alfred Wallenstein. He played the Red Diamond Stradivarius violin (see the story about its loss and restoration at [1]).

Jacobsen is one of the subjects of George Gershwin's 1922 song "Mischa, Jascha, Toscha, Sascha" recorded by the Funnyboners.

David James "Davy" Larmour (born 23 August 1977) is a football player who plays as a forward for Larne F.C..

He began his professional career with Liverpool, after trials with Crystal Palace and Rangers. In his debut for Liverpool reserves Larmour scored at the Kop end.

The following season he helped Liverpool win the FA Youth Cup, beating a West Ham side containing Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand in the final. Larmour scored in the first leg but in the second he dropped out to make way for Michael Owen. He had been troubled by a thigh injury and was released at the end of the season without making a first-team appearance for Liverpool. When notified of his impending release some weeks earlier, Laarmour rejected the chance to go to Sam Allardyce's Blackpool in order to play in the FA Youth Cup final.

Larmour signed a two-year contract with Doncaster Rovers, but he suffered an annus horibilis in 1996–97, registering only three starts, 19 substitute appearances and no goals. He departed when the club went into administration. After two months training with Macclesfield Town, Larmour returned to Northern Ireland and Linfield. He went on to enjoy a prolific spell at Windsor Park.

Julie Feeney, award-winning Irish composer, song-writer, singer and music producer.

Feeney is an award-winning and critically acclaimed Irish composer, singer, record producer, musician, songwriter, theatre artist and educator. She composes both instrumental and electronic music, and composes her songs with full orchestrations. Her self-produced debut album, 13 songs, won her the Choice Music Prize for 'Irish Album of the Year' in 2006 and she subsequently was signed to the major label, Sony BMG U.K..

She comes from Galway and her own record label is called mittens after her mother's favourite cat. She self-released her second self-produced critically acclaimed album pages in Ireland through 'mittens' and she performed to a capacity audience of 1200 at Ireland's National Concert Hall in 2010. She was the subject of a special RTE television documentary 'The View Presents Julie Feeney' aired on the 20th of July 2010 with John Kelly (Irish broadcaster). She recently toured America where she released pages in 2011 on her own 'mittens' label. She is a Gaeilgeoir and worked part time as a model.
