Wagga youth bashed, robbed by gang of three

10.51AM: A Wagga youth was bashed and robbed by three people in Ashmont overnight. 

The 17-year-old had been walking near the level crossing at Fernleigh Road about 9.15pm. 

He was approached by three males of Aboriginal appearance who assaulted him before fleeing with his phone. 

Inspector Elizabeth Cullen said several people had seen the incident.

“Police found the victim and witnesses at a nearby McDonald’s,” she said. 

“Officers spoke to witnesses who had seen the man being assaulted. 

“The offenders have not been identified as yet. 

“Police are making further enquiries and are seeking information on the three males.” 

Inspector Cullen said the 17-year-old had bruising to his stomach. 

He was taken to hospital with minor injuries but was not admitted.
