UNDP Belarus launches new English website

20 June 2014: UNDP Belarus is launching its new English website, which can be accessed at by.undp.org. This site was designed as a resource for governments, civil society, the media and the public, who wish to gain and share knowledge about the development challenges in Belarus, as well as the solutions that UNDP offers to meet those challenges. Current UNDP Belarus website will not be updated any more – but we recommend you to use it as an archive of our activities and some publications.   More...
UN and Belarusian partners develop cooperation strategy for 2016-2020

18 June 2014: Two-day Strategic Planning Retreat started in Minsk Crowne Plaza Hotel on 18 June 2014. The Retreat is devoted to the planning of the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for Belarus for 2016–2020. The participants of the event are the UN Country Team members, representatives of the government of Belarus, private sector, civil society organizations and other national and international development partners.   More...

18 June 2014: On 16-17 June 2014 UNDP/GEF projects in collaboration with the Belarusian Ministry of Environment held a 2-day seminar in the Biaroza District, Brest region of Belarus. The event was titled “Improving Legal Regulation to Combat Land Degradation and Desertification” and focused on to create a greater understanding of the importance of combating land degradation and desertification in Belarus. The seminar was organized under the banner of the World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD), celebrated worldwide on 17 June. This year’s WDCD observance is under the theme: “Ecosystem-based adaptation” with the slogan “Land belongs to the future, let’s climate proof it!”   More...
Project Focuses to Reorient Peatlands Land Use UNDP/GEF Project Focuses to Reorient Peatlands Land Use from Arable Crops to Grasslands in the Brest Region of Belarus

06 June 2014: UNDP/GEF “Landscape approach to management of peatlands aiming at multiple ecological benefits” project (“Peatlands-2”) launched activities to convert degraded peatlands, formerly managed for intensive agriculture, to meadows that will be further used for mowing and pasture in the Biaroza Districts of the Brest Region in Belarus. During the first stage of the project’s activities around 200 ha of former arable lands were restored to grassland at two pilot sites.   More...
