Yelberton Abraham Tittle (born October 24, 1926), better known as Y. A. Tittle, is a former football quarterback in the National Football League and All-America Football Conference who played for the Baltimore Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and the New York Giants. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.
Born and raised in Marshall, Texas, Tittle played high school football at Marshall High School. He attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and played quarterback for the LSU Tigers. As a junior, Tittle was named the MVP of the legendary 1947 Cotton Bowl, a scoreless tie in an ice storm between LSU and Arkansas.
Tittle was the sixth overall selection of the 1948 NFL Draft, taken by the Detroit Lions. He was the second quarterback drafted, following Bobby Layne of Texas (Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Lujack of Notre Dame was selected in the 1946 draft.) Tittle began his career with the Baltimore Colts of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) in 1948; the Colts joined the NFL in 1950, but became defunct after that season.
San Francisco (/sæn frənˈsɪskoʊ/), officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California and the only consolidated city-county in California. San Francisco encompasses a land area of about 46.9 square miles (121 km2) on the northern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, which makes it the smallest county in the state. It has a density of about 18,187 people per square mile (7,022 people per km2), making it the most densely settled large city (population greater than 200,000) in the state of California and the second-most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City. San Francisco is the fourth-most populous city in California, after Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose, and the 13th-most populous city in the United States—with a Census-estimated 2014 population of 852,469. The city and its surrounding areas are known as the San Francisco Bay Area, and are a part of the larger OMB designated San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland combined statistical area, the fifth most populous in the nation with an estimated population of 8.6 million.
The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan. They are members of the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL), and play their home games at Ford Field in Downtown Detroit.
Originally based in Portsmouth, Ohio and called the Portsmouth Spartans, the team formally joined the NFL on July 12, 1930 and began play in the 1930 season. Despite success within the NFL, they could not survive in Portsmouth, then the NFL's smallest city. The team was purchased and moved to Detroit for the 1934 season.
The Lions have won four NFL championships, tied for 9th overall in total championships amongst all 32 NFL franchises; however, their last was in 1957, which gives the club the second-longest NFL championship drought behind the Arizona Cardinals. They are one of four current teams, and the only NFC team, to have not yet played in the Super Bowl.
Aside from a brief change to maroon in 1948 instituted by then head coach Bo McMillin (influenced by his years as coach at Indiana), the Lions uniforms have basically remained the same since the team debuted in 1930. The design consists of silver helmets, silver pants, and either blue or white jerseys.
On October 28, 1962, Giants quarterback Y.A. Tittle threw for 505 yards and seven touchdowns

I get a kick out of this commercial. They purposedly bleep out the competitor's name - HOW QUAINT. New York Giants quaterback, Y. A. Tittle is promoting Personna razor blades, in this public domain commercial. Tittle doesn't explain where he uses the product. Yelberton Abraham Tittle is a bald man. I'm on my way to having that same condition. I might call Y. A. for advice. No matter how far I run
Run away from you
You've always been there
And you welcome me home
Like I never was gone
Friend of all friends
I've forsaken, I've mistreated you
Lover divine
No matter how hard I tried
To stray from your side
You've always been true
And I owe it all to you Jesus
I owe it all to you
All my life I lay before you
I owe it all to you
It seems too good to be true
That all that I've got to do
Is learn to let go
I lay this burden down
And I let your love surround
All of my soul
When I'm broken, you mend me
Healer divine
And all that I've got to do
Is learn to follow you
Let your grace break through
You always lift me when I fall
You always hear me when I call
And you forgive me Lord
