Kander may refer to:
Jason Kander (born May 4, 1981) is the Missouri Secretary of State and the youngest statewide elected official in America. Kander is a former Army Captain who served in Afghanistan as a military intelligence officer, a member of the Missouri House of Representatives, and an attorney from Kansas City, Missouri. During his career in the General Assembly, he represented the 44th district (which includes parts of Jackson County) from 2009 to 2013. He was elected Secretary of State on November 6, 2012. He is running for the United States Senate against Republican incumbent Roy Blunt in the 2016 election.
Jason Kander is a fifth-generation Missourian. He was a senior at American University during the September 11 attacks, and soon after decided to enlist in the Army National Guard. While pursuing a law degree from Georgetown University, he earned his commission through the University's ROTC battalion. He then volunteered for a tour in Afghanistan, where "as a lieutenant, he led a team of intelligence soldiers who investigated dirty dealers inside the Afghan government."
Kander and Ebb were a highly successful songwriting team consisting of composer John Kander (born March 18, 1927) and lyricist Fred Ebb (April 8, 1928 – September 11, 2004). Known primarily for their stage musicals, which included Cabaret, Chicago, and Fosse, Kander and Ebb also scored several movies including their most famous song, the theme song from Martin Scorsese's New York, New York. Recorded by many artists, "New York, New York" became a signature song for Frank Sinatra. The team also became associated with two actresses, Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera, for whom they wrote a considerable amount of material for the stage, concerts and television.
John Kander and Fred Ebb were introduced by their mutual music publisher Tommy Valando in 1962. They first collaborated on an unproduced musical called Golden Gate, which producer-director Harold Prince called "...basically a test to see if the collaboration was any good." They wrote Flora the Red Menace, their first musical to be produced on Broadway, in 1965, in which Liza Minnelli made her Broadway debut. Another early collaboration was the industrial musical General Electric presents Go Fly a Kite written with Walter Marks for General Electric's 5th Electric Executives Conference in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1966.
Nadav Kander (born December 1, 1961) is a London-based photographer, artist and director, known for his portraiture and landscapes. Kander has produced a number of books; had his work exhibited widely; he received an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Photographic Society in 2015, won the Prix Pictet and a World Press Photo award; and his work is included in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery, the Société Générale, Paris, Pictet & Cie’s Art Collection and other museums and galleries.
Kander was born in Tel Aviv, Israel. His father flew Boeing 707s for El-Al but lost his eye and was unable to continue flying. His parents decided to start again in South Africa and moved to Johannesburg in 1963. Kander began taking pictures when he was 13 on a Pentax camera. He states the pictures that he took then and until he was 17, although unaccomplished, have the same sense of quiet and unease that is part of his work today. After being drafted into the South African Air Force, Kander worked in a darkroom printing aerial photographs. It was there he became certain he wanted to be a Photographer. He moved to London in 1986, where he still resides with his wife Nicole and their three children.
John Harold Kander (born March 18, 1927) is the American composer of a number of musicals as part of the songwriting team of Kander and Ebb. He wrote the music for the stage musical Cabaret, for which he won the Tony Award as Composer and Lyricist. He and Ebb received the Kennedy Center Honors award for Lifetime Achievement in 1998.
Kander was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and attended the Pembroke Country-Day School and Oberlin College before earning a master's degree at Columbia University where he was a protégé of Douglas Moore and studied composition with Jack Beeson and Otto Luening. His studies were interrupted at Oberlin when he served in the Cadet corps of the United States Merchant Marines.
Kander began his Broadway career as substitute rehearsal pianist for West Side Story. The stage manager for West Side Story then asked Kander to play the auditions for her next show, Gypsy. During the auditions, Kander met the choreographer, Jerome Robbins, who suggested that Kander compose the dance music for the show in 1959. After that experience, he wrote dance arrangements for Irma la Douce in 1960.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In the past decade, we've seen an explosion in the number of business incubators, startup accelerators and entrepreneurial training programs. But Kander argues all of these programs share an enormous fatal flaw. Diana's talk challenges our thinking about entrepreneurship and presents a new approach for startups and corporations alike. Diana Kander entered America as an eight-year old refugee of the Soviet Union. By the time she was an American citizen, she had perfected her skills as a capitalist – selling flea market goods to grade school classmates at a markup. Today, Kander is a successful entrepreneur, having founded and sold a number of ventures, and is a senior fellow at the Ewing Mario...
2016 is a new turning point year in Alejandro’s career. With a unique sounding album coming out at the end of the year in the respected english label Third Ear Recordings and a new palette of sounds and inspirations, Alejandro is slowly shifting to a more deep and complex sound. Still accesible to the club, but wider and richer in sound design. These two new titles in the label’s catalogue carefully thread different periods in mosso’s evolution, showing the continuity of that personal sound defined by precise crafted percussions and playful melodies, appealing to the mind, body and soul. Kander on the A side immediately sets the club pace with a rolling rhythm that serves as foundation for that classic mosso combination of riffs and counterpoints that build tension thru the song bringing...

Here are John Kander and Fred Ebb, the composers of CHICAGO, performing "All That Jazz". There's a certain special charm here.
Jason Kander spoke about the future of the Democratic Party at the DNC Winter Meeting in February 2017.
Voting in America has never been easy, and Jason Kander has made it his personal and political mission to change that. Recently, Kander launched Let America Vote, a political organization dedicated to leading the fight for voting rights. Specifically, Let America Vote focuses on combating state and national laws that it believes are intended to disproportionately disenfranchise people based on their race, ethnicity, gender, age or income. The organization ensures that there are political consequences for elected officials who defend prohibitive voting laws. Kander was elected Missouri secretary of state in 2012 at the age of 31, making him the first millennial in the nation to be elected to statewide office. He became interested in public service after he returned from a tour of duty as...

You suffocate all
You're dying so await your fall
You're begging like a pig for crumbs
So lick the plate clean until your lips are cold and
numb
Off with your own head. Change your footsteps.
Why do you choose to bury your father and sons?
Let the dead bury the dead; your father and sons
The dead bury the dead.
The knife is to your own neck. Follow me.
Taste the life. Leave all that is dead behind.
Dead bury the dead.
I am wretched skin in vain but I will not collapse
My foundations will not crumble or see decay
When the last candle burns out will you find your way?
Will you stumble? Will you regret your path; your name?
The dead bury the dead again, again, again.
Bury the dead.
The knife is to your own neck. Follow me.
Taste the life. Leave all that is dead behind.
Dead bury the dead.
Are you dying from inside?
Are you suffering?
Progress is a choice in life.
Face down, don't turn your back on me.
Where's your dedication? Your fight?
The annihilation of your pride.
I want! I want! I need! I need! and I want!
I want for you to open up your eyes
Envision all that is unseen.
You will follow all that is revealed.
You will follow because your light is growing dim.
