Vinton Hayworth (June 4, 1906 – May 21, 1970), also known as Jack Arnold and Vincent Haworth, was an American actor, playwright and screenwriter who began in weaselly and milquetoast roles and aged into dignified character parts. He appeared in over 90 films during his career, as well as on numerous television shows. He is most likely best known for his final role, that of General Schaeffer on the sit-com I Dream of Jeannie, which he played on the final three seasons of the show. He is the uncle to film legend, Rita Hayworth, as well as being the uncle (by marriage) of another screen legend, Ginger Rogers.
Born in Washington, D.C., he began acting in his late teens. He was a pioneering radio announcer in the early 1920s, first in Washington, later in New York City, and then in Chicago. Subsequently, he appeared on numerous radio programs in various roles. He entered movies in 1933, under the stage name Jack Arnold and made appearances in small roles, usually played comically good-natured, sneaky characters. Although he did occasionally have larger parts, such as the starring role in 1937's China Passage, billed as Vinton Haworth. His appearances as Jack Arnold ended in the early 1940s and he did a two year stint on Broadway from 1942-44 before returning to California. He made appearances in film from the late 1950s onward.

Bill and Doree, popular radio personalities of the '50's, wrote this song which was a #3 Billboard Hot 100 hit for Connie Stevens in 1960. The single of Bill and Doree's version wasn't released until April 1963. I'm assuming it was recorded around 1960. Laverne and Shirley also charted with a remake at #65 in 1976. B-side is "Valley High".

This romantic song seemed perfect for two teen romance movies from the 50s, "The Careless Years" (1957) and "The Restless Years" (1958). Both films are about young love, coming of age and dealing with pressures from both peers and parents. Both were shot in black and white but it works for the feel of the period beautifully. The young couples have to part, but don't forget their love and vow to keep in touch. Although the song was recorded...

Texaco Star Theatre is an American comedy-variety show, broadcast on radio from 1938 to 1949 and telecast from 1948 to 1956. It was one of the first successful examples of American television broadcasting, remembered as the show that gave Milton Berle the nickname "Mr. Television". The classic 1940–44 version of the program, hosted by radio's Fred Allen, was followed by a radio series on ABC (the former NBC Blue) in the spring of 1948. When Texaco (now Chevron Corporation) first took it to television on NBC on June 8, 1948, the show had a huge cultural impact. The roots of Texaco Star Theatre were in a 1930s radio hit, Ed Wynn, the Fire Chief, featuring the manic "Perfect Fool" in a half hour of vaudevillian routines interspersed with music. Wynn's ratings began to slide and the comedian l...
