The Muslim HERO,s Ahmad Shah Massoud (Unseen Pictures) - The Man Behind The Legend Part 2
By: Youssef Ahmadi Proud Khorasanian son Ahmad Shah Massoud the Great, the defender of more than 7,000 years Arian history. "Winner of the Cold War". Ahmad Shah Massoud was not just a military leader, but was a great politician as well. Fighting the soviets 1979, Fighting Pakistani puppet Hekmatyar 1993, Fighting ISI the Talibans 1996, Fighting terrorists and evil forces 1999, seemingly at war with the world 2001. An ethnic Tajik Massoud has become an abstract symbol of the defeat of the Taliban, the defeat of the Soviet Union/Russia, the defeat of al-Qaida, ISI, extremists and of the Afghan "resistance" generally. Ahmad Shah Massoud has become the National Hero of Afghanistan and the best legendary Commander of 20th century in South Central Asia Pacific. Ahmad Shah Massoud the son of police commander Dost Mohammad Khan was born on September 2, 1953 in the Jangalak district of Panjsher, Afghanistan. Ahmad Shah Massoud was a Kabul University engineering student of Polytechnic Institute for Engineering and Architecture. But after the occupation of Afghanistan by Red Soviet Army, later he left his higher university education and turned military leader who played a leading role in driving the Soviet army out of Afghanistan, earning him the nickname "Lion of Panjsher". The Red Army was vanquished in Panjsher eight times between 1358 -1367 (1979 - 1988) and Massoud was the chief military commander of Afghanistan. His followers call him Amir Sahib Shahid (Our Martyred Commander). An ethnic Tajik, Massoud was a moderate of the anti-Soviet resistance leaders. Following the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan and the subsequent collapse of the Soviet-backed government of Mohammad Najibullah, Massoud became the Defense Minister in 1992 under the government of former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani. Following the collapse of Rabbani's government and the rise of the Taliban in 1996, Massoud returned to the role of an armed opposition leader, serving as the military commander of the United Islamic Front for the Salvation of Afghanistan (known previously as the Northern Alliance). On September 9, 2001, two days before the September 11 attacks in the United States, Massoud was assassinated in Takhar Province of Afghanistan by suspected al-Qaeda agents posing as journalists. The following year, he was named "National Hero" of Afghanistan. The date of his death, September 9, is observed as a national holiday in Afghanistan, known as "Massoud Day." The year following his assassination, in 2002, Massoud was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Massoud was a natural leader of men. He was clear sighted yet visionary. He was a man of true piety. While at war, he prayed for peace. While in the midst of destruction, he dreamed of rebuilding. While his hope for Afghanistan was one of liberation and democracy for all people, he was realistic about politics, diplomacy, and cultural and religious influences. Afghanistan: Crossroads of the Ancient World.
This touring exhibition displays some of the most important archaeological discoveries from ancient Afghanistan. These treasures highlight finds from four sites in northern Afghanistan. They survived more than 30 years of war in Afghanistan because they were transferred in 1988 to the safe keeping of the then president Mohammad Najibullah and hidden by staff of the National Museum in Kabul in secret vaults in the Arg, the now presidential palace. The motto of the National Museum of Kabul is "A nation stays alive when its culture stays alive." This exhibition gives us the opportunity to see rare treasures of Afghanistan's cultural heritage and shows that Afghans are able to keep their culture alive. The exhibition Afghanistan: Crossroads of the Ancient world shows Afghanistan as a meeting place for civilisation. It shows that Afghanistan's cultural history is not exclusively founded on destruction and ending of empires, but on their development, exchange and reinvention. The objects displayed are the evidence of Afghanistan as nursery of culture, not a killing ground. http://www.afghanvoice.org.uk Copy Rights 2011- published: 07 Jun 2014

Dr.Najibullah on National TV
March 1990 President Dr. Najibulllah appeares on TV at 10 p.m from an underground command post after an Unsuccesful attempt by (Gulbudin/Shahnawas) to launch a coup (koteta) Hekmatyar ordered his fighters to intensify their attacks against the Kabul regime in support of Tanai. The success of the coup was taken for granted. The Pakistan government's involvement in this abortive affair was transparently obvious. The expected uprising by Afghan Army didn't take place: Tanai had no direct control of troops inside Kabul. He ordered air strikes against government buildings (Air Force Commander Abdul Qadir Aqa was an accomplice who also later fled to Pakistan). The plot misfired and failed because of faulty communications. President Najibulllad appeared on TV at 10 p.m. the same night to prove that he was physically there and in effective control of the state apparatus. The President gathered the support of important Parchami militias, including the elite Special Guard to defuse the plot. Tanai was apparently also supported by those important Khalqis who remained in the Politburo, Assadullah Sarwary and Mohammad Gulabzoi, respectively their countrys envoys to Aden and Moscow, were said to have been intimately connected with the coup and with Gral Tanai.- published: 07 Jun 2014

If you don't know who Ahmad Shah Massoud is, you should read up. He dedicated his life to the dream of bringing democracy and independence to Afghanistan. He fought against Soviet occupation. He fought against Osama Bin Laden. He fought against the oppression of the Taliban. He fought for the equality of women in Islam. He was a warrior for peace. The son of police Commander Dost Mohammad Khan was born on September 2, 1953 in the Jangalak district of Panjsher, Afghanistan. The Red Army was vanquished in Panjsher eight times between 1358 -1367 (1979 1988) and Massoud was the chief military commander of Afghanistan in Panjsher over all other regions. His followers call him Amir Sahib Shahid (Our Martyred Commander). An ethnic Tajik, Massoud was a moderate of the anti-Soviet resistance leaders. Massoud had strong will and beaming face, speaking less. Since his childhood, he was considered exceedingly talented; from 10th grade on his school acknowledged his being a particularly gifted student. His native tongue was Dari/Persian, but he was also fluent in French, Pashto and English. Furthermore, he had a good working knowledge of the Arabic language. Massoud had many interests, which he could not spend any more time on later. His favourite sports were soccer, horse riding, swimming and Karate. His humble, open-minded, and disciplined character made him not only popular but also a natural leader among his many friends. Massoud: "We lived in Karte Parwan, Kabul, where I had some very good friends. We were about 50 to 60 people. At that time I was in 7th grade at the Lycée Isteqlaal High School, where I was in charge of the team." He was also the dedicated coach for a soccer team, which was composed mostly of his friends from Karte Parwan, Kabul. Moreover, he was a passionate chess player and reader. As capabilities of war in the early days of his resistance in wars against occupiers Massoud became one of the most brilliant military strategists of his era, and most charismatic leaders of the second half of the twentieth century.
