Bataan and the guided-missile frigate USS Elrod (FFG 55) rendered assistance to persons in distress and provided food, water, medical attention, and temporary shelter to 282 persons after receiving a report that an Italian military marine patrol aircraft sighted six small vessels, one of which was sinking. From June 5-8, six of the best teams in the world will descend upon the BTS Studio and duke it out for a base prize pool of $50,000. Na'Vi and DK have been directly invited to the LAN Finals based on their outstanding performance in major tournaments over the past four months (Na'Vi in SLTV VII, Dreamleague, & SLTV VIII, and DK in WPC-ACE & G-League). To fill the remaining four slots at the global LAN Finals, BTS will host online qualifiers across three major regions: America, Europe, & Asia. Qualifier play will begin in April and continue into early May. All teams attending the LAN Finals will receive substantial travel support. Additionally, 25% of all Dota 2 purchases for the event will go directly towards increasing the prize pool. More details on opportunities for fans to contribute to the prize pool through Dota 2 will be announced in the coming weeks. For its first major live event, Beyond the Summit will venture into uncharted territory for Dota 2 by running more an intimate, "behind the scenes" style tournament from their studio house in Los Angeles. When players aren't actively competing, they will enjoy a much more active role in the broadcast than what is normally seen at a traditional live event. Ultimately, BTS wants to give players a platform to connect more directly with fans and to share the personalities, insight, & humor behind the names.

In this travel video guide to San Francisco, I travel to San Francisco, California, one of the most scenic cities in the United States, if not the world. In town for a conference for only four days, only one of which was going to be sunny, I headed out to see as much as I could in a day. I started my day by visiting the Haight-Ashbury district, San Francisco's most famous neighborhood. Ground zero for the Summer of Love, this neighborhood's bohemian past is still evident as you walk around the area, though things have changed quite a bit. Next I headed to the Mission District, San Francisco's "It" neighborhood right now. Home to a large and varied immigrant population, cheap rents have lured many a young and hip individual to the area, evidenced by the artisanal chocolate shops, used book stores and proliferation of coffee shops. There are also great taco shops here. I visit Taqueria Cancun and El Toro to see which I liked best. Then I hopped on a boat to get a unique view of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, which we sailed under, then traveled past Alcatraz Island and Angel Island. Wrapping things up, I walked through the Presidio for a pilgrimage to Lucasfilm, complete with a Yoda fountain, then hiked one of the Presidio's many trails to get a great view as the sun set over the bay.

The electric frenzy of the Strip flows through the centre of what has now become, from humble 18th-century beginnings, an adult playground of epic proportions. Gambling was legally introduced here in the 1930s, since when brash hotels and casinos have sprung up like so many fantasy castles to accommodate the human tide pouring in. Las Vegas translates into Spanish as 'The Meadows', but if you're looking for pastoral calm you're in very much the wrong place. The magic, for many, lies in the limitless potential for self-gratifying adventure. Cabaret performances dazzle and explode into the wee hours. Limousines and SUVs throng the Strip from dusk until dawn. The alcohol flows, the dice tumble, the music shakes. And the Vegas experience can be as elegant or debauched as desired, thanks to a glittering panoply of different goodtime venues ranging from the crystal-hung bling of a plush casino to the vodka-fuelled rock-out of a sweaty nightclub, and from the Michelin-starred delicacy of a gourmet restaurant to the gargantuan spread of an all-you-can-eat buffet. Notoriously, the betting floors don't have any clocks on view. It's not hard to understand why, of course, and this lack of time management is in many ways emblematic of how best to enjoy the destination on a wider level. Las Vegas doesn't naturally lend itself to structured itineraries, but if the idea of combining rollercoasters, roulette, dancefloors and vatfuls of champagne into one night out is an appealing one, then the overall experience is unlikely to disappoint. That said, there's far more to the city than hedonistic nightclubs and blackjack tables. If you're willing to scratch beneath the surface, or to venture out of town, you'll find a destination boasting everything from art galleries and heritage museums to some of the most jaw-dropping natural scenery that North America offers. Explore the new Mob Museum and Neon Museum, which both opened in 2012. The eagerly-anticipated LINQ development will open in 2013, featuring open-air shops, dining and entertainment options, plus a 168m-high (550ft) observation wheel which will transform the city's skyline. And it's still perfectly possible to experience the thrills of the Strip without downing your bodyweight in booze and dispensing 50-dollar bills to croupiers. Many of the most notable mega-resorts, in fact, can provide eye-popping reward without you even having to open your wallet. The best of them are worlds unto themselves: casinos, hotels, shopping malls, food feasts, circuses and theme parks all rolled into one. 1 2 3 4 Whatever happened to good music? You know in the days when you could feel it?
It was almost sexual, sending shivers up your spine. This, I believe is
because songwriters were not restricted by the small music dictatorship which
now exists. Let's hope the future holds something better than the present and
let's leave the past alone. The music business is incapable of bringing music
to the future, as it sits just waiting to pounce on any third rate trend,
milking it to death, once again putting money where the music is not. I only
wish I was born before all the great ideas were used. While I struggle to
working around this, the most annoying thing is watching other people succeed
through stealing them. I could have been a legend in my own time; I could
have sold a lot of records; I could have enjoyed it as well. I could have
been a lot of things. One thing that I know I am and will always be: I am the
greatest.
I bumped into this bloke the other day we used to know in school. We didn't
say 'hello' because he had his hair slightly perked and I had all mine shaved
off. He was always a bit of a clown. He used to be a hard man, but he did
his homework, because he knew that one day he'd be going places. I knew I
should have asked him there and then 'was he happy now that he'd finally got
there?' He goes to bed thinking of ways to fiddle ten more pounds on his
expenses. Me? I go to bed thinking of all the reasons why I am the greatest.
We always use other people as the mirror in which we judge ourselves. So, we
are constantly changing to meet their expectations. Maybe we've forgotten the
meaning of the word 'individual.' It's as if everything we do or think is
valued for its conformity. Anything fresh or original is hacked down and
always brought down to size. You don't even think for yourself, as a life
that is led for you is some kind of problem. You wouldn't recognize a new
idea if it spat in your face and screamed out [?]. Who am I to
talk? Who the hell do I think I am? I am the greatest.
Welcome to the wonderful world of show business. The dark and dank place
rarely lit by the harsh light of reality. I look around and I see big
mouthed rock stars with opinions on everything and answers to nothing.
Burnt out old men with money to burn. Bandwagons full of bands with
sycophantic fans with no lives of their own. A place where image is king and
music is a poorer relation that I can relate to. I am the greatest.
