WBAL (1090 kHz AM) is a News radio/Talk/Sports radio station located in Baltimore, Maryland. WBAL broadcasts on a clear channel frequency with 50 kilowatts (or 50,000 watts) of power. Owned by the Hearst Corporation, WBAL's tri-mast transmitters are located in Randallstown, Maryland. The station shares its studios and offices with sister stations WBAL-TV (channel 11) and WIYY (97.9 FM, formerly WBAL-FM) on Television Hill in Baltimore's Woodberry neighborhood.
WBAL has the highest signal strength of any radio station in Maryland and its directional nighttime signal reaches as far as Nova Scotia and Bermuda. WBAL employs the largest number of news staff of any radio station in the state. WBAL and WIYY are the only two radio stations still owned by Hearst.
WBAL began broadcasting after being dedicated on November 2, 1925, as a subsidiary of the Consolidated Gas Electric Light and Power Company, a predecessor of Constellation Energy. WBAL's initial broadcasting studio was located at the utility's offices on Lexington Street, and it operated as part of the Blue Network of the National Broadcasting Company. On January 12, 1935, with radio becoming more commercialized, there was little justification for public service company ownership of a radio station, and WBAL was sold to the Hearst-controlled American Radio News Corporation.

Fredom and dignity
These things we understand
And I can still believe
We can find our promised land
In a world of confusion
We've got to start trying
To build it together
In América
América...
Intricate are you among the masses
Interested in you will never pass us
Woke up today in a praisin' state of mind
Had a revelation while I'm waitin' in line
A picture of your face flashed across the screen
It's time to come together singin 217
Stare at me I can't forget a set of eyes
The window to your soul is what I like to analyze
So don't be surprised when I memorize you in a crowd
We the people got a purpose and it's now
Stare at me
Stare at me tonight
Intricate are you among the masses
Interested in you will never pass us
So give me just a second to catch my breath
Heart attacks will come but I'll never see death
No need for the verbs or description dig
Depiction tonight eternal listen kid
So inspire poet from cage to stage
I'll climb to the window pencil to the page
Inside connection inside reflection
Me to you mine is yours musical affection
Open your window
You're a star
Interested in you
Intricate in you
Everybody waitin' for the weekend
Gettin' off five in the P.M.
Wanna blow off a little steam and
Go cut a-loose somewhere
Folks start showin' up at seven
Order up a crown or a cold one.
Nobody buyin' rounds for no one
No girls dancin' on the bar in there.
But in the A.M,
They go from gettin' buzzed into wasted.
Might not remember what they're sayin'
Radio turned up and playin' loud a honky tonk station
Spendin' what they spent the week makin'
Ask a little hottie what her name is
The whole worlds a-sleepin'
We're wide awake in the A.M.
Leave around ten and you're alright
Everybody's cool, never uptight.
But if you stay longer than midnight
You might end up in the middle of a fist fight
Cause in the A.M,
They go from gettin' buzzed into wasted
Might not remember what they're sayin'
Radio turned up and playin' loud a honky tonk station
Spendin' what ya spent the week makin'
Ask a little hottie what her name is
The whole world's a-sleepin
We're wide awake in the A.M.
In the A.M,
They go from gettin' buzzed into wasted
Might not remember what they're sayin'
Radio turned up and playin' loud a honky tonk station
Spendin' what ya spent the week makin'
Ask a little hottie what her name is
Hey baby, tell me, what ya think about gettin' out of this place and
Let me show you my Chevrolet and
We can sit and do a little star-gazin'
Get a little bit of a long time in
In the A.M.
Ay-yeah, In the A.M.
tired and awake
write words you really mean without mistake
push the pen until it doesn't work no more
it's empty outside the door
partially insane
roman candle come and guide me through the dark
i'll be walking through the horror i once knew
that wasn't really much
this isn't a long catastrophe
it's all just a passing phase you'll see
and though i am scared of the sun light
i'm not scared if you're the night
blanketed and bruised
stumblin' to find the light switch on the wall
if this feeling goes, i won't do it again
this time i swear it
this isn't a long catastrophe
it's all just a passing phase you'll see
and though i am scared of the sun light
i'm not scared if you're the night
i'm not scared if you're the night
i'm not scared if you're the night
i'm not scared if you're the night
i'm not scared if you're the night
i'm not scared if you're the night
i'm not scared if you're the night
i'm not scared if you're the night
Did I tell you I knew your name
But it seems that I've lost it
Did I tell you it's my own game
This is not your problem
I don't know if I'm gonna change
Wasting time and another day
I keep running away
Even from the good things
Did I tell you it's not that bad
Sitting over here dreaming
Did I tell you I'm right on track
This time I mean it
I don't know if I'm gonna change
Wasting time and another day
I keep running away
Give me something to talk about
Take your time
Tell me something to do without
I'll wait in line
I don't know
What to say
Move along
Anyway
Take it slow
Lonely road
Is the path
That I seem to follow
All I want to do is be true to my ways
Leaning back and forward were playing the game
All this pain I've cause you I know it by name
Taking this ticket walking away
Taking all that has come and gone
You know we're wrong
Watching everyone hum along
We're still untold
Fall in love
Let it go
I dont know
What it's for
Take a stand
Falling down
Dig on in
Take on what you will
But I still
Believe what I do
And I was your stepping stone
And I knew
So take your hand in mine
And all you will find
You’ll find what you need
And I was your stepping stone
And I couldn’t leave
Oh now my head keeps spinning
Oh now I’m right back in it
Oh now I was your stand in
Oh now I guess this will pass in time
Take things as they come
But you know that is so hard
Yeah you know what I mean
To take your piece of ground
And let what will be just be
Oh now my head keeps spinning
Oh now I’m right back in it
Oh now I was your stand in
Oh now I guess this will pass in time
I was your stepping stone
I guess this will pass in time
I was your stepping stone
I guess this will pass in time
I was your stepping stone
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it need sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know why nobody told you
how to unfold you love
I don't know how someone controlled you
they bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know how you were diverted
you were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
no one alerted you
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
You once asked me
Why did I do it
Wasn't nothing to it I found
Cuz you stole me
Thinking you owned me
But you're so lonely now
And you were worried
Making up stories
Hoping I would be out
And you ruled me
Saying what would be
Now I just see you around
I'll tell you something
You're not gonna win this time because I'm through
You're good for nothing
You saw right through me I don't think you knew
Who the hell I was
And I was waiting
Thinking you were changing
Hoping youd turn this around
But you were faking
Hanging on maybe
Now you're just lost in the crowd
And you fooled me
Saying you knew me
You were just keeping me down
And you were crazy
Thinking you'd change me
Tell me stories tell me lies
Don't want to know the things you hide
Take me back to where I was
Watching sunsets feeling fine
Just be careful what you say
Some things will not wash away
Now I don't need to know it all
It's hard to come back when you're far from home
Up all night with all that I've ever known
Wish I could give you things that you need
Wish I could need you but I walk alone
But I sit by the wayside
Feeling all that I've lost and found
We're so incomplete
But I know
I know I'll never come around
But I've got you on my mind
Try to catch up but I fall behind
Too busy checking out what's on the side
Wish I could tell you what you want to hear
Wish I could tell you that its all a lie
But I sit by the wayside
Feeling all that I've lost and found
We're so incomplete
But I know
I know I'll never come around
I’m not sure what I’m doing here
I’m wondering what this day will bring
You’re far away but you’re still near
But I think that’ll be ok with me
I’d settle things but I’m headstrong
Now it’s just easier to fake my way
It’s not that I can’t resolve
It’s just that I don’t have much to say
Looking at those photographs
I cant’ see who’s right or wrong
I was your second hand
Keep saying that you're somewhere you're nowhere at all
Now you're running on habit hanging plans on the wall
It always seemed like the tables turned easy for you
Now there's all these people tellin' you what to do
But I know that you once were somebody that had so much to say
Now you're nothing but an old song rearranged
When you've got all you need sometimes you can't tell
I wonder if those big hands are holding you well
This wasn't what I had hoped for I wanted you to shine
Now it seems that you're moving down the narrowest line
But I know that you once were somebody that had so much to say
Now you're nothing but an old song rearranged
Now you're lost cuz you've got yourself in the way
Now you're nothing but an old song rearranged
Now they're stuck on their new found
Soon you won't be around
God I wish I was wrong
But I know that you once were somebody that had so much to say
Now you're nothing but an old song rearranged
Now you're lost cuz you've got yourself in the way
I walk
Back through what I have known
Seams sewn but they still show
Now we’re slowly finding our way
And this
New road that we’ve made
Let it help us to mean what we say
Stand by you I will
Stand by you I will
Let the old house burn
To stem and stern
We love
Sometimes we learn
But we’re just living now
Yeah we’re just living now
I know
We all must move from our side
You’re all that I wanted to find
Stand by you I will
Stand by you I will
Let the old house burn
To stem and stern
We love
Sometimes we learn
But we’re just living now
I don't mean to tell you something about you
But you're looking unsettled
Lone riders pulling all nighters
But you're always nice and steady
Weigh stations got your troubles parading
But the problems never seem to hang on
Unabated so you must have been hated
Everybodys got to clean up faking
I don't wanna tell you cuz you're looking that way
Fine tooth combing everyone that you know
Sit around and wonder how you keep up the mainstay
Take a look around can you fight this feeling
You're fine looking but it seems youre undusted
Have you anything to say
And roads traveled are desires unsaddled
But you're going all the way
And I've fallen so you say that I'm wasted
But you're moving on and doing nothin
You're losing faith in all the things that you've tasted
I saw a road that had no end
I wanted you
So I followed it
And what you take is what you should give
But the stories came
And the stories went
I gave so much of myself to you
But that's alright
I wanted to
Nothing learned don't know what to do
There's no lesson here
I'm losing you
Now you wanted nothing we talked about
I thought I had
You figured out
I had so much to give you now
I was sure of you
But you had your doubts
Now don't you worry you're not to blame
I've been on your side
Playing those games
Now you're just in a different place
There's nothing left
Ill be your mirror
Reflect what you are, in case you don’t know
Ill be the wind, the rain and the sunset
The light on your door to show that you’re home
When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you’re twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
cause I see you
I find it hard to believe you don’t know
The beauty that you are
But if you don’t let me be your eyes
A hand in your darkness, so you wont be afraid
When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you’re twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
Waiting for the sun to rise
Was it something I said
Feeling all that is right and wrong
Mixing up in my head
Wont you just let me come around
Cuz you know that I can
Bring me back to just what I know
A home
I'm alone
All troubled pass in time
And we can make it through
You tell me that its not what I say
But what I can do
I can't make it alone
I want to come home
Blinded by these city lights
Now they just got in the way
And its so lonely this evening town
It makes no sense anyway
Now it's what you say that I'm riding on
Cuz all those times I let you down
You were there to stay
All troubled pass in time
And we can make it through
You tell me that it's not what I say
But what I can do
I can't make it alone
I thought you might unfold
It’s me you could not hold
To love is to give in
The question is when
Sometimes timing’s all you have
Most things won’t come on your demand
Now I know you don’t agree
But I hope you can see
That I tried
So hear me sing now
Hear me sing now
Who you are is what you hide
I was yours, but you weren’t mine
So now you’ve drawn your line
But I hope it will fade
In time
So hear me sing now
Hear me sing now
Despite what we’ve been told
We’re living alone
So let us sing now
Let us sing now
Despite what we’ve been told
We’re living alone
So let it all go
Let it all go
Let it all go
Let it all go
I sit around
Nothing's the same
I'm looking for answers
But I'm already late
You say you need me
One more night
Then you're packing your bags
Saying it's alright
I don't know why
I wait and I wait
I'm looking for something
But you're not gonna change
Turn around and I see the hope fading
Now you've gone away
Keep on moving like you're so unaware
You're looking for answers but you're already there
You see the road but you dont the way
You're coming around and then you're pulling away
I dont know why I wait and I wait
I'm looking for something but you're not gonna change
Turn around and I see the hope fading
Waiting
You sit alone
Feelings have all faded
You're wondering why you have stayed
You're looking for some answers
Hoping theres some other way
Just tell me when you're ready
We'll get you far far away
Far from these troubled times
Looking at the way you stand and fall
Seems like everything you've had is gone
Tell me that you've heard this all before
I'll say it anyway
Leave this
You've seen that road
Just find another city
Get this out of your way
You're hiding out wondering
How to get rid of this pain
You talk a bunch of nothing
Seems so easy to see
Looking out at the city so bright
Not sure if it's imagined or real
Show me something that you'd always want to hide
And then we'll get away
You always wanted to say what you feel
But all those right hands keep telling you wrong
Got another who's just stepping on your heels
Got to get away
Get away from
All these troubled and all of these lies
Find yourself a reason
Leave tonight
Take your chances
Feeling alright
And then we'll fade away
Fade away tonight
Helpless highways looking alone
Seen nothing but the worst of your times
All in all it s got you climbing up the walls
You gotta get away
Get away from
All these troubled and all of these lies
Find yourself a reason
Leave tonight
Take your chances
Feeling alright
And then we'll fade away
Have you noticed that I'm standing back on my feet
It doesn't matter if you don't feel like talking to me
Now I realize that everything was in my head
It doesn't matter what you're thinking if it cannot be said
Yeah you are always a part of something missing
Yeah you are always a part of something missing
I once believed in the words that you used to say
I was always moving closer now I'm moving away
I'm gonna move far away, far from it all
Nothings ever what it seems till you rise from your fall
Yeah you
You're always a part of something missing
Yeah you
You're always a part of something missing
Yeah you
You're always a part of something missing
Yeah you
You're always a part of something missing
Always a part of something missing

Open your window
You're a star
Interested in you
If I could touch your heart
In so many ways
You'd still be here
Holding me close all through these years
When I'm all alone
I'm so insecure
Nothing's so sure
Wondering what's near
With all my tears
Calming my fears
'Cause I'm not here with you
Do you always feel
There's something unreal
Holding you back
All through those times that we have had
And didn't we almost know
This love wouldn't grow
How could we see who'd believe
It's just you and me
Sometimes I want to share my world
When lying here with you
But I just feel so numb
Just looking straight at you
I want to feel your touch
The passion's dead and gone
Your warmth is so naive
Who know's what's there to have?
With my closed hands I gave enough
Who knows what's there to heal?
Help me breathe cause I am drowning
How can I feel? There's so much pain
How could I hide? There's so much more
How could I see? You should've known
How could I go? You should've stayed
How could I go? How could I feel?
it's one a.m. and i can't see straight
how in the hell am i gonna get home?
three a.m. and i'm falling off my stool
how in the hell am i gonna get home?
i dunno
it's one for the road
and another one for me
one for my friends and one for my family
hell you never know who i might meet in the street
so i'll have one for them
and another one for me
how in the hell am i gonna get home?
