Saint Sava Church, Belgrade, Serbia
Cathedral of Saint Sava, Belgrade The Cathedral of Saint Sava (Hram Svetog Save) is the largest Serbian Orthodox church, the largest Orthodox place of worship in the Balkans and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. It is located on the eastern part of the Svetosavski Trg square on the Vračarski Plato in Belgrade. It was raised on the spot where it is thought that in 1595 Sinan-Pasha burned the relics of Saint Sava, founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church. This memorial cathedral is an organic component of Belgrade's contemporary skyline, and one of its key features. The church was built in the Serbian-Byzantine style, with four 44 m-high steeples. At its highest point the dome is 70 m in height, while the main gilded cross is an additional 12 m high, giving the Cathedral a total height of 82 m and a height above sea level of 134 m (64 m above the level of the Sava river). For this reason the church occupies a prominent place on Belgrade's horizon and can be seen from all approaches to the city. The church occupies an area of 3500 m² at floor level, with an additional 1500 m² in the three galleries on the first level. There are more galleries 120 m2 in area on the second level, where a panoramic outside view can be seen all around the dome. The church extends 91 m in the east-west direction, and 81 m in the north-south direction. The domes are decorated with 18 gilded crosses of three different sizes, while the belfries house 49 bells. The church can accommodate 10,000 believers at any one time, and the western choir gallery can hold 800 choristers. Beneath the floor of the church, there are vaults and the crypt of Saint Sava as well as the burial church of Holy Prince Lazar, totalling 1800 m² in area. The cathedral is clad in white marble and granite, while the murals, which are yet to be undertaken, will be mosaics. The plan is for the main dome to be decorated with a huge mosaic of Christ Pantocrator.- published: 11 Sep 2013

Saint Sava, Patron of the Serbian People
Serbian Cultural Garden delegate Alex Machaskee spoke at the dedication of the bust of Stevan Mokranjac, prominent Serbian composer and music educator, in the Serbian Cultural Garden in Cleveland Ohio. He told the story of St. Sava who built monasteries in the desert in the 5th century and became patron saint of the Serbian people. In response to the burning of relics by the Ottoman Turks, the hymn to St Sava sung by the Serbian Men's Choir Kosovo says that you may burn the relics but never burn the spirit of the Serbian people. http://www.clevelandpeople.com/groups/serbian/serbian.htm- published: 01 Sep 2013

Here's a short HDR motion timelapse project shot in Iasi, Romania. It also features some long-exposure nighttime work of some of Iasi's landmarks. The whole process involved about 25.000 photos and took three months to complete. This is our first serious timelapse project and we've learned a lot during this period, actually. We'll probably begin work on the second part as soon as heavy snow hits our county, later this year. So sit back and enjoy the first part. We recommend headphones :)

Back To Beautiful Belgrade (Belgrade, Serbia)
We take a 50 minute plane ride from Dubrovnik to Zagreb, that's right 50 minutes. Hang out in Zagreb for a bit then the usual 8 hour train ride back to Belgrade. ; I ran into some Slum Dog Millionaire gypsy children and laughed as they tried to steal something from the vendor, watch closely... Haha, the women are still beautiful and the food is still the best. I wanted to explore Beograd a little more. Belgrade is the capital and the largest city of Serbia. The city lies at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. Belgrade has a population of 1,630,000 estimated in 2007) Its name in Serbian means White city. I could of told you that being that I'm the only black person for miles. Ha. The Cathedral of Saint Sava is the largest Orthodox cathedral on the Balkans, and one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in the world. The church is dedicated to Saint Sava, founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church and an important figure in medieval Serbia. More nice girls and more people looking at me, then we move from beauty to distruction. These building were destroyed by NATO and US forces in 1999 for Belgrades non compliance regarding the events in Kosova. Seeing this and remembering the many stories Goga told me about war, losing her home, worrying about her family started to play in my mind like and old black and white war documentary. People scared, people running i mean how can one country do this to another country with innocent civilians caught in the cross fire. We continue to move through the city with Dane, Goga's brother our proud excort. This city has some underated beautiful buildings and an extensive history. One dating back to the largest prehistoric culture of Europe, the Vin?a culture, as early as the 6th millennium BC. We made our way to Belgrades make shift beach Ada Ciganlija which hosts thousands of visitors each summer. We sat down for coffee and was presently surprised by a famous Serbian celebrity Milan Kalinic who was about to perform a leap of faith. Milan Kalinic and Katherine Šišmanovi? host one of the first reality television formats in Serbia called: "All For Love" It is a prime time show with a reach of 2,128.000 viewers. The new season produced by Pink deals with sincere emotions, true stories, romantic marriage proposal, a spectacular statement of love, the story of unbreakable friendship, family strength, first loves and divorce and many other unusual stories of ordinary people just wanting to see how far they will go "All for Love ". We watched as this guy climb up to the top. Is he really gonna jump? I guess so... The next day we hopped on a cruise ship. Myself, Goga, Ljuban, Yagoda and Dane. On board the ship I ran into a twitter/facebook friend of mine Karl Haudbourg who wrote a column about me last year called A Black Hip-Hopper In Belgrade which was featured in the online magazine Serbia's Ambassador to the World. I mean really what are the chances??? Must be destiny... The Sirona ship was built in the year 1980, and belonged to the government of West Germany. Many important persons, including Heads of States, Maradona, the soccer superstar, to tennis ace Novak Djokovic. Most government ministers as well as the Prime Minister and the President of Serbia have also cruised aboard Sirona, many of them more than once. Sirona is frequently chartered by embassies, prestigious foreign and local companies and banks as well as government ministries and agencies for their receptions and promotions. It's an enjoyable 90-minute sightseeing cruise. Along the Kalemegdan Fortress. Downstream toward Dorcol and Pancevo bridge. Up River to Zemun and Gardos and back to port. Permanently settled by Serbs from the 7th century onwards it was a strategic location so the city was battled over in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times since the ancient period by countless armies of the East and West. In medieval times, it was in the possession of Byzantine, Frankish, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Serbian rulers. That was our beautiful host. Yagoda was quite upset because the boat wasn't going to sail near Zenum which she really wanted me to see. The host came to us quite a few times during the the cruise to calm us down from all the hell Yagoda was raising. In 1521 Belgrade was conquered by the Ottomans and became the seat of the Pashaluk of Belgrade, as the principal city of Ottoman Europe and among the largest European cities. Frequently passing from Ottoman to Austrian rule which saw destruction of most of the city, the status of Serbian capital would be regained only in 1841, after the Serbian revolution. Northern Belgrade, though, remained a Habsburg outpost until the breakup of Austria-Hungary in 1918. The united city then became the capital of several incarnations of Yugoslavia, up to 2006, when Serbia became an independent state again. Nevermind the history more beautiful girls from Belgrade..

The fountains of the Summer Garden. St. Petersburg.
The Summer Garden (Russian: Ле́тний сад, Letniy sad) occupies an island between the Fontanka, Moika, and the Swan Canal in Saint Petersburg and shares its name with the adjacent Summer Palace of Peter the Great.
The park, first conceived by Peter in 1704, was originally designed in a Petrine Baroque style by the Dutch gardener and physician Nicolaas Bidloo. Starting from 1712, the planting of the Summer Garden was further elaborated by the Dutch gardener Jan Roosen, who was the chief gardener of the park till 1726. The well-known French architect Jean-Baptiste Le Blond, who arrived in St. Petersburg in 1716, added to the park the flavour of a Garden à la française. The Summer Garden was largely completed in 1719. The walks were lined with a hundred allegorical marble sculptures, executed by Francesco Penso, Pietro Baratta, Marino Gropelli, Alvise Tagliapietra, Bartolomeo Modulo and other Venetian sculptors that were acquired by Sava Vladislavich. In the late 20th century, 90 surviving statues were moved indoors, while modern replicas took their place in the park.
The sequence of patterned parterres, originally more formal than the current landscape, were the site of Imperial assemblies, or lavish parties which often included balls, feasts, and fireworks. Apart from the statuary, a major park attraction were the fountains, the oldest in Russia, representing scenes from Aesop's fables. Some of these fell out of use and were demolished after the 1777 inundation which destroyed the fountain machinery acquired by Peter the Great in Britain.
A delicate iron-cast railing, separating the park from the public walk of the Palace Embankment, was installed between 1771 and 1784 to a design by Georg von Veldten. The grille is suspended between 36 granite columns crowned with urns and vases. The poet Anna Akhmatova, among others, considered the grille to be a pinnacle of art-casting and one of the symbols of St Petersburg.
In the 1820s, a grotto pavilion, attributed to Andreas Schlüter and Georg Johann Mattarnovy, was rebuilt into a coffee house. On the bank of the Carp Pond, a magnificent porphyry vase, a gift of Charles XIV of Sweden to the tsar, was installed in 1839. Fifteen years later, a famous monument to the children's writer Ivan Krylov was opened in the park. A sign of the progress of Romanticism in Russian official culture, it was the first monument to a poet erected in Eastern Europe.
On 4 April 1866 Dmitry Karakozov made the first attempt to assassinate the tsar when he walked out of the Summer Garden. As the attempt proved abortive, the ponderous Summergrille memorial chapel in a Russian Revival style was built over the gate. This rather incongruous attachment was demolished by the Bolsheviks after the October Revolution.
The park, was chosen by Alexander Pushkin as a setting for childhood walks of the fictional character Eugene Onegin.
