Martín Alejandro Hernández Mendez (born January 19, 1992) is a Mexican actor and model, known in Latin America and the United Kingdom for his roles as Octavio in Guillermo del Toro's horror film The Devil's Backbone, and as Marcos in the drama film, Love, Pain and Vice Versa.
Hernández started in show business as a child fashion model for magazine advertisement and television commercials. At age 11, he began his acting career in the film industry, after a couple of films he made two soap operas; in 2008, he made his motion picture debut as a lead actor by playing a drug addicted teen. Hernández will released his directing debut film in 2010.
Early 2007 Hernández was listed among artists and entertainers as one of People en Español "50 Most Beautiful People."
Hernández was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Martín A. Hernández and Arcelia Mendez. He is the oldest of three brothers; the youngest one is Sebastian Hernández who is six years younger than he is, and Salvador Hernández who is three years younger. He is from Spanish, Hispanic, Italian and American heritage[citation needed] and was raised as a Roman Catholic.[citation needed]
