Josiah - Out Of The First Rays (Full EP) Josiah has been making heavy music since 2000. Dressing the bare bones of hard rock with a coat of acid drenched flesh. Riding it with a black heart, and a sharp proto metal mind. A sound cloaked in banshee-like cries, thunderous rhythms and lysergic guitar offerings - before it is laid upon the burning ruins of fear. REPRESS of the legendary and sold-out debut EP of the UK heavy psych rockerz Josiah in a brand new gatefold sleeve vinyl! 20 years on and Out Of The First Rays is still as powerful today.
As the band rip straight into "Head On" it's clear that Josiah wanted to take heavy rock back to it's opiate drenched roots. Psychedelic lyrics sung with soul and the heavy as fuck grooves laid down across this release owe a debt to Black Sabbath and Monster Magnet. "Malpaso" quickly became the bands signature track (featuring on film soundtracks and TV shows) with its pulsating riffs and trippy middle section and "Spacequake" makes you start to think there must be something in the midlands water supply, as Bethancourt echoes Ozzy with "come take my hand my child" and the Iommi styled guitar hooks kick you straight in the gut.
"Sweet Smoke" kicks off side B with its Cactus meets Grand Funk early 70's rock vibes. The sonic interplay between the power trio, back the vocals up for this anthem to a burning earth - "Let the flames just take you higher". The 10 minute closer "Black Maria" with its psychedelic twin vocals and one of the heaviest riffs you'll hear this side of dead, gives way to uptempo bass grooves and a wah drenched lead break. Take another sip of the electric kool-aid baby, before we "slide down the cosmos" and fall into the big black sleep.

Josiah Harmar
Josiah Harmar (November 10, 1753 – August 20, 1813) was an officer in the United States Army during the American Revolutionary War and the Northwest Indian War. He was the senior officer in the Army for seven years.
Biography
Harmar was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and educated at a Quaker school. He started his military career during the American Revolutionary War, receiving a commission as a captain in 1775. He served under George Washington and Henry Lee during the war. A lieutenant colonel at its conclusion, he was chosen by Congress in 1784 to relay the ratified Treaty of Paris (1783) to commissioner Benjamin Franklin in Paris.
As commander of the First American Regiment, Harmar was the senior officer in the United States Army from 1784 to 1791. He signed the Treaty of Fort McIntosh in 1785, the same year that he ordered the construction of Fort Harmar near Marietta, Ohio. He also supervised the construction of Fort Steuben near present-day Steubenville, Ohio. Harmar was brevetted brigadier general in July 1787. He directed the construction in 1789 of Fort Washington on the Ohio River, which was built to protect the southern settlements in the Northwest Territory. The fort was named in honor of President Washington.

Josiah is credited by most historians with having established or compiled important Hebrew Scriptures during the Deuteronomic reform that occurred during his rule.
Josiah became king of Judah at the age of eight, after the assassination of his father, King Amon, and reigned for thirty-one years, from 641/640 to 610/609 BCE.
He is also one of the kings mentioned in one of the two divergent genealogies of Jesus in the New Testament.
Family
Josiah is only known through biblical texts. No reference to him exists in surviving texts of the period from Egypt or Babylon, and no clear archaeological evidence, such as inscriptions bearing his name, has been found.
According to the Bible, Josiah was the son of King Amon and Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath. His grandfather Manasseh was one of the kings blamed for turning away from the worship of Yahweh. Manasseh adapted the Temple for idolatrous worship. Josiah's great-grandfather was King Hezekiah who was a noted reformer.

Josiah - Out Of The First Rays (Full EP) Josiah has been making heavy music since 2000. Dressing the bare bones of hard rock with a coat of acid drenched flesh. Riding it with a black heart, and a sharp proto metal mind. A sound cloaked in banshee-like cries, thunderous rhythms and lysergic guitar offerings - before it is laid upon the burning ruins of fear. REPRESS of the legendary and sold-out debut EP of the UK heavy psych rockerz Josiah in a brand new gatefold sleeve vinyl! 20 years on and Out Of The First Rays is still as powerful today.
As the band rip straight into "Head On" it's clear that Josiah wanted to take heavy rock back to it's opiate drenched roots. Psychedelic lyrics sung with soul and the heavy as fuck grooves laid down across this release owe a debt to Black Sabbath and Monster Magnet. "Malpaso" quickly became the bands signature track (featuring on film soundtracks and TV shows) with its pulsating riffs and trippy middle section and "Spacequake" makes you start to think there must be something in the midlands water supply, as Bethancourt echoes Ozzy with "come take my hand my child" and the Iommi styled guitar hooks kick you straight in the gut.
"Sweet Smoke" kicks off side B with its Cactus meets Grand Funk early 70's rock vibes. The sonic interplay between the power trio, back the vocals up for this anthem to a burning earth - "Let the flames just take you higher". The 10 minute closer "Black Maria" with its psychedelic twin vocals and one of the heaviest riffs you'll hear this side of dead, gives way to uptempo bass grooves and a wah drenched lead break. Take another sip of the electric kool-aid baby, before we "slide down the cosmos" and fall into the big black sleep.

Josiah - Out Of The First Rays (Full EP) Josiah has been making heavy music since 2000. Dressing the bare bones of hard rock with a coat of acid drenched flesh. Riding it with a black heart, and a sharp proto metal mind. A sound cloaked in banshee-like cries, thunderous rhythms and lysergic guitar offerings - before it is laid upon the burning ruins of fear. REPRESS of the legendary and sold-out debut EP of the UK heavy psych rockerz Josiah in a brand new gatefold sleeve vinyl! 20 years on and Out Of The First Rays is still as powerful today.
As the band rip straight into "Head On" it's clear that Josiah wanted to take heavy rock back to it's opiate drenched roots. Psychedelic lyrics sung with soul and the heavy as fuck grooves laid down across this release owe a debt to Black Sabbath and Monster Magnet. "Malpaso" quickly became the bands signature track (featuring on film soundtracks and TV shows) with its pulsating riffs and trippy middle section and "Spacequake" makes you start to think there must be something in the midlands water supply, as Bethancourt echoes Ozzy with "come take my hand my child" and the Iommi styled guitar hooks kick you straight in the gut.
"Sweet Smoke" kicks off side B with its Cactus meets Grand Funk early 70's rock vibes. The sonic interplay between the power trio, back the vocals up for this anthem to a burning earth - "Let the flames just take you higher". The 10 minute closer "Black Maria" with its psychedelic twin vocals and one of the heaviest riffs you'll hear this side of dead, gives way to uptempo bass grooves and a wah drenched lead break. Take another sip of the electric kool-aid baby, before we "slide down the cosmos" and fall into the big black sleep.

Josiah Harmar
Josiah Harmar (November 10, 1753 – August 20, 1813) was an officer in the United States Army during the American Revolutionary War and the Northwest Indian War. He was the senior officer in the Army for seven years.
Biography
Harmar was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and educated at a Quaker school. He started his military career during the American Revolutionary War, receiving a commission as a captain in 1775. He served under George Washington and Henry Lee during the war. A lieutenant colonel at its conclusion, he was chosen by Congress in 1784 to relay the ratified Treaty of Paris (1783) to commissioner Benjamin Franklin in Paris.
As commander of the First American Regiment, Harmar was the senior officer in the United States Army from 1784 to 1791. He signed the Treaty of Fort McIntosh in 1785, the same year that he ordered the construction of Fort Harmar near Marietta, Ohio. He also supervised the construction of Fort Steuben near present-day Steubenville, Ohio. Harmar was brevetted brigadier general in July 1787. He directed the construction in 1789 of Fort Washington on the Ohio River, which was built to protect the southern settlements in the Northwest Territory. The fort was named in honor of President Washington.
