Empress Dowager Cixi
Empress Dowager Cixi (Chinese: 慈禧太后; pinyin: Cíxǐ Tàihòu; Wade-Giles: Tz'u-Hsi T'ai-hou) (29 November 1835 -- 15 November 1908), of the Manchu Yehe Nara Clan, was a powerful and charismatic figure who became the de facto ruler of the Manchu Qing Dynasty in China for 47 years from 1861 to her death in 1908. Selected by the Xianfeng Emperor as a concubine in her adolescence, she climbed the ranks of Xianfeng's harem and gave birth to a son who became the Tongzhi Emperor upon Xianfeng's death. Cixi ousted a group of regents appointed by the late emperor and assumed regency over her young son with the Empress Dowager Ci'an. Cixi then consolidated control and established near-absolute rule over the dynasty. She installed her nephew as the Guangxu Emperor in 1875. A conservative ruler who refused to adopt Western models of government, Cixi rejected reformist views and placed Guangxu under house arrest in later years for supporting reformers. However, after a humiliating clash with the Eight-Nation Alliance, external and internal pressures led Cixi to attempt institutional changes and appoint reform-minded officials. Ultimately, the Qing Dynasty collapsed a few years after her death. Historians from both Kuomintang and Communist backgrounds have generally portrayed her as a despot and villain responsible for the fall of the Qing Dynasty, but in recent years professional historians have suggested that she was a scapegoat for problems beyond her control, a leader no more ruthless than others, and in fact an effective if reluctant reformer in the last years of her life.- published: 26 Aug 2010

Summer Palace - Yíhé Yuán -- 頤和園 http://www.myvideomedia.de English see below Der Sommerpalast, auch Garten der Harmonischen Einheit genannt, liegt an den Westbergen im Nordwesten von Peking. ***[en.] The Summer Palace, also called the Garden of Virtue and Harmony, lies at the Western Hills northwest of Beijing. Construction began in 1153 during the Jin Dynasty and was completed in 1764 during the Qing Dynasty. In 1860 the Palace was destroyed by English and French troops to humiliate the imperial family. In 1888, the Emperor's widow Cixi began reconstruction of the Palace using resources which should have served to reconstruct the Imperial Fleet. During the Boxer Rebellion, the Palace was once again destroyed and rebuilt in 1903. In addition to the private residences of the Guangxu Emperor and Cixi the Emperor's widow, the 730m long corridor tracing Chinese history through the ages is particularly impressive with its 8000 pictures and scenes. Moving past the Mountain of Longevity, we come to the Marble Boat which, in contrast to the Imperial Fleet, has never changed its position. On the other side of the Mountain of Longevity, you find the remains of the Sumeru Temple and the old Suzhou Road. Suzhou Road was built as a shopping street exclusively for the Empress where she could pass the time and make purchases with money especially printed for her. Today, souvenirs and local handicrafts are sold here. Beijing visitors should definitely not miss a visit to the Summer Palace.- published: 20 Mar 2014

Kek Lok Si Buddhist Temple of Supreme Bliss (极乐寺 / 極樂寺) in Air Itam, Penang, Malaysia.
This is a travel video of us exploring the enormous Kek Lok Si Buddhist temple of Supreme Bliss (极乐寺 or 極樂寺) located in Air Itam, Penang, Malaysia. With elements of Mahayana Buddhism and Chinese traditions it's one of the largest Buddhist temples in all of SE Asia. In order to get there we took bus number 203 from Komplex Komptar
for a forty minute journey getting off at Air Itam market. Within walking distance we first had to pass several shops selling souvenirs and trinkets before we finally entered into the temple. One of the first things you notice when entering the temple are the turtles swimming and feeding in small pond. As you further explore the temples it's impressive to note all of the lanterns and Buddhist sculptures. To visit the final section of the temples one can take a lift; otherwise, walking up would be very tedious on a typically hot and humid day. Overall, we enjoyed coming to explore the free Kek Lok Si Buddhist temple although we found it quite overly commercialized which I suppose it to be expected.
The Kek Lok Si Temple (simplified Chinese: 极乐寺; traditional Cforhinese: 極樂寺; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Ki̍k-lo̍k-sī; Penang Hokkien for "Temple of Supreme Bliss" or "Temple of Sukhavati") is a Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam in Penang and is one of the best known temples on the island. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia[citation needed]. The temple is heavily commercialised with shops at every level and inside the main temple complexes. Mahayana Buddhism and traditional Chinese rituals blend into a harmonious whole, both in the temple architecture and artwork as well as in the daily activities of worshippers.
The construction of the temple began in 1890 and was inspired by the chief monk of the Goddess of Mercy Temple at Pitt Street. With the support of the consular representative of China in Penang, the project received the sanction of the Emperor Guangxu, who bestowed a tablet and gift of 70,000 volumes of the Imperial Edition of the Buddhist Sutras.
The primary benefactor of the Kek Lok Si Temple in 1906 was none other than Kapitan Chung Keng Quee.
In 1930, the seven storey main pagoda of the temple or the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas, was completed. This pagoda combines a Chinese octagonal base with a middle tier of Thai design, and a Burmese crown; reflecting the temple's embrace of both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism.
In 2002, a 30.2m bronze statue of the Kuan Yin was completed and opened to public. It replaced the previous white plaster Kuan Yin statue which was damaged due to a fire a few years earlier. The bronze statue is located on the hillside above the pagoda while the head of the previous statue which survived the fire is preserved and placed on the right hand corner of the new statue.
As the fairly recent date mentioned above may suggest, the temple is still growing. Generous donations from the affluent Chinese community allow the construction of additional buildings. From 2005 to 2009 an ornate shelter for the Kuan Yin statue was constructed. 16 carved dragon pillars were built, carrying the top of three concentric octogonals roof. This most recent construction was inaugurated on 6 December 2009.
Most visitors approach the temple as they ascend a stairway, roofs of which provide shelter to a multitude of shops selling souvenirs and other - mostly secular - commodities. They pass by a so-called Liberation Pond, following the buddhist tradition of merit-making, turtles may be released into freedom, albeit a limited one.
The temple itself consists of several large halls for assembly and prayer, here, statues of Buddha, various Bodhisattvas as well as Chinese gods are being venerated. Intricate woodwork, often brightly painted and a plethora of lanterns add to the visual impression.
There is an inclined lift to carry pilgrims and visitors further uphill. On the elevated platform, you can find a pond filled with Koi and the towering statue of Kuan Yin, Goddess of Mercy, which can also be regarded as Avalokitheshvara, Bodhisattva of Universal Compassion.
The temple is a focal point of festivals of the Chinese community in Penang. The Chinese New Year celebrations are particularly impressive. For 30 days following Chinese New Year, the temple remains open until late at night whilst thousands of lights turn the scenery into a sea of light: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kek_Lok_Si

China as a military rising power from East Asia china muscles its force before Japan
China as a military rising power from East Asia china muscles its force before Japan hope this show is not a repeated tragedy of later Qing Dynasty when Then-governer Cixi and Guangxu Emperor showed their paper-tiger forces before Japan .Followingly China losed the pointed war (first China-japanese War in the modern time) falling victim of Japan's hunt for the next 50 years. History should be the mirror of president and future! when we face japan again what will we display for the decisive war that concerns the fat of our nation? Time will tell us everything... Outspokenly i really worry about the corruption and power-fighting in the military among china army which is rather similiar like the Qing dynasty .Before the choice to die for country or pocket interest against the nation,All the chinese should be a stronghold against the Corrupted system from CPC.Find it and unroot it once for all . more from http://youtube.com/user/cosmeticmachines- published: 05 Nov 2013
