Glossary: Şişman = Fat Domuz= Pig Merhaba= Hello/ Greetings Hello Everybody! It's been such a long time! Anyways I want to keep this short and sweet and TO THE POINT! I recently went to Istanbul and it was AMAAAAAAZING! Turkey is such a beautiful country! The people there are so beautiful, kind, welcoming and humble. I felt so at home every second I was there! I originally went to Istanbul with my University to do some work, however as you guys can see, the majority of the time we were sightseeing. I learnt so much when I was in Istanbul about the beautiful Islamic religion. Unfortunately, like many people who live in the western hempishere, I only really encountered the Islamic religion through the media... and let's be honest trusting the media to give you non judgemental, fair and precise information about something as widely talked about as the Islamic religion... is never a good idea! I have never been one to let others decide my opinion on something, I've always wanted to find out things for myself, so I have never made an opinion about the Islamic religion, as I have no right to either since I didn't know much about it. It was only when I joined my university and many of my friends were Muslim that I started to learn about the religion itself. Then, disaster struck my home country when a 7.9 richer scale earthquake hit the capital Kathmandu, and the first students to take action about it were the Islamic Society. They gave so much hard work and dedication to fundraising for my country, it was so heartwarming to see! Whilst in Istanbul I was so taken away by the beauty that I was learning about Islam. The mosques I visited (Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet and other mosques around the area) were astonishing! I don't think I've ever come across anything as beautiful! The people in the mosques were so lovely and kind. What I'm trying to say (if anyone is even reading this...) is that, we should never let anyone decide an opinion of something so widely regarded. Something as big as a religion, is so important to so many people and if you only know a tiny proportion about a specific religion and focus to look only on the bad side of it, that will not help strengthen your mind to become better or any wiser. I am so sick of hearing negative things said about the Islamic religion from people who only rely on the Media as a source of information about the religion. Let's not forget that it is only a small section... some people decide to focus their attention on and only that. They don't give their eyes enough space to absorb the beauty of Islam. Try to be open with your minds and let yourself see the beauty in things, only then you will be perceptible to see what Islam is actually about... peace. Let that happen... and you will only see peace.
