The plane crashed in a Namibian national park near the border with Angola and there were no survivors, Namibian police and Mozambican authorities said. An investigation of the cause was underway, and teams of experts headed to the scene. The Brazilian-made Embraer 190 aircraft was carrying 27 passengers, including 10 Mozambicans, nine Angolans, five Portuguese, and one citizen each from France, Brazil and China, said the airline. Six crew members, including two pilots, three flight attendants and a maintenance technician, were on board. Mozambique's transport minister, Gabriel Muthisse, confirmed the deaths of the 33 people on the plane. Flight TM470 from Maputo, the Mozambican capital, did not land as scheduled in Luanda, the Angolan capital, on Friday afternoon, and the airline initially said the plane might have landed in Rundu, in northern Namibia. It said it coordinated with aviation authorities in Namibia, Botswana and Angola to locate the missing plane, and that it was setting up support centers for families of the victims at the airports in Maputo and Luanda. A Namibian police helicopter joined officers on the ground in the search, the Namibia Press Agency reported. The area is vast and there are no roads, making it difficult to locate the plane, said police official Willy Bampton, according to the agency. The search was conducted in the Bwabwata National Park in northeastern Namibia. Several thousand people as well as elephants, buffalo and other wildlife live in the park, which covers 6,100 square kilometers (2,360 square miles). In a statement, Embraer said the plane that crashed was delivered to Mozambique Airlines in November 2012 and said it would assist investigators trying to determine the cause of the crash. "To that end, a team of Embraer technicians is preparing to go to the scene of the accident," the company said. Mozambique Airlines said the aircraft had General Electric engines, and had flown 2905 hours since being acquired a year ago. Airlines from Mozambique are among carriers banned in the European Union because of safety concerns. Tony Tyler, director general and CEO of the International Air Transport Association, said earlier this week that none of the 25 African members of the association, which include Mozambique Airlines, had an accident in 2012. "But the overall safety record for Africa remains a problem that we must fix," Tyler said at a meeting of the African Airlines Association in Kenya. He said African aviation comprises about 3 percent of global airline traffic, and last year it accounted for nearly half of the fatalities on Western-built jets. Mozambique Airlines also uses U.S.-made Boeing and Canadian-made Bombardier aircraft. CEO Marlene Mendes Manave said in a statement on the airline's website, posted prior to the crash, that the airline grew 8 percent in the first half of this year, compared to the same period in 2012. latest Telugu news, Andhra politics, telugu movie news, Telugu Movies , Economic news, Telugu news, India Daily News, Today Headlines, Indian News Sites, Tollywood News, political updates, ap political updates, AP Political News, News in Telugu, Telugu Cinema News, Telugu Headlines, ap election news, Andhra News, Film News, Latest Andhra News, Telugu Live News, telangana news, chandrababu naidu, ys jagan, jagan, jagan scam, ap politics, India political news, andhra pradesh news, breaking news, ap popular news, andhra pradesh popular news, andhra state news, current affairs,ap business news, Telugu Political News, latest ap news, ap updates, south india news, Hyderabad news, Andhra Pradesh Tourism, AP political parties, Telugu News Updates,NTV live news, NTV live, NTV, YS Jagan Bail, YSR, TRS, TDP, YSRCP,Congress, Jagan, Vijayamma, Andhra Pradesh local news,Ntv,n tv, ntv live, n tv live, ntv live streming,n tv live streming, ntv now, n tv now, ntv today, n tv today, ntv telugu news, ntv telugu, ntv news- published: 01 Dec 2013

How Namibia's Liberator Turned Into Its Oppressor
How Namibia's Liberator Turned Into Its Oppressor
He Is My President (2001): With rare access to Sam Nujoma on his private farm, we investigate the shocking hate speech that has been emanating from Namibia in recent months. The target of this verbal attack are gays and lesbians. For downloads and more information visit http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=9464 They have been threatened with deportation and imprisonment, even "elimination"... They are not the only ones at the receiving end of the ruling party's threats: Christians, men who drink in drinking dens, foreigners and those who marry them, have all been singled out as undesirable in the speeches of President Sam Nujoma. This is in strong contrast to Namibia's progressive constitution, which protects diversity and human rights. Despite the ongoing threats against them, gays and lesbians recently held Namibia's first-ever gay pride march through the streets of downtown Windhoek. We meet Ian, a local activist, and a group of gay men. They were all once supporters of SWAPO and the President, but now fear for their future in the country they helped liberate. They feel cast aside in the name of political expediency. "If we don't do something about it now everybody is going to leave the country or go into hiding. I don't want to live a lie". This feature explores the worrying contradiction in Sam Nujoma: the kindly patriarchal figure whose utterances at times betray him as a man who will go to any lengths to cling to power and to avoid the AIDS pandemic of many other African nations... Namibian Ambassador Ringo Abed about our relationship with China
Namibian Ambassador Ringo Abed about our relationship with China
China is Namibia's largest export destination and brought N$ 1.4 billion into the local economy over the last 12 months. On a special visit to China, our News on One Producer, Treasure Kauzuu and camera operator, Lydia Pitiri had an opportunity to discuss the opportunities as well as the fears surrounding our ongoing relationship with China. The bilateral relations between the Republic of China and Namibia date back to the liberation struggle of Namibia. Since signing of the first memorandum of understanding, the day after Namibia attained its Independence, relations between the two countries have since grown from strength to strength. The Head of the Namibian embassy in China, Ringo Abed shared more insight on the current realtions between the two states. Appointed just seven months ago, Ambassador Abed pointed out the important role that the Namibian Embassy plays when it comes to promoting economic development, through trade investment and tourism for the mutual benefit of the two countries. The Ambassador was quick to brush away the negative perception that China only exports goods of inferior quality to Namibia. Statistics show that China is Namibia's largest export market as exports to China have been recorded at N$1.4 billion in 2012 and 2013. Abed further mentioned that the recent state visit by Prime Minister Hage Geingob to China, resulted in the establishment of vital contacts with chinese counterparts in order to set the ball rolling for future collaboration based on win-win outcomes between the two nations.- published: 07 May 2014

This video is a collaboration between Safari Drive self drive safaris and Time-lapse photographer and adventure film maker Rufus Blackwell. We wanted to capture the spirit of adventure experienced on a self drive safari so we packed up our camera bags and set off to Namibia to shoot during the rainy season. Over the next two weeks we travelled from the dry river beds of Damaraland, to the oldest desert in the world, petrified forests to extinct volcanoes. What we got was some truly awesome footage. Camping out under vast starry skies and driving through the pristine wilderness, Namibia is a photographer's dream. Round every corner is a new surprise from the desert elephant to the foggy wilds of the Skeleton coast. To drive your self is to have the independence to truly explore this incredible country.
We shot on Canon 5D's and GoPro's. We used a fully equipped Land Rover Defender from Safari Drive, supplied with long range fuel tanks, satellite phone, GPS, fridge and all the bedding we needed. We came home with far more fantastic footage than we could ever fit into this short film.
All footage is available at Footage Search.

A Focus on PAY Namibia Part 1
The Physically Active Youth (P.A.Y.) programme is a community-based project that focuses on the healthy development of young people in low-income communities. P.A.Y. programme provides a safe and constructive platform for a supervised after-school environment for youth. Using a holistic approach, the program addresses the physical health, academic status and personal development. This is implemented in the form of an after school programme in the Windhoek township of Katutura where children and youth come every day after school to receive academic assistance and engage in structured sports activities. Who we areIn addition, one day in a week is dedicated to life skills training on topics of relevance for the local community as well as the Namibian society as a whole. The programme was founded in 2003 through the initiative of Dr Donovan Dominic Zealan, a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Sport Education, Faculty of Education, at the University of Namibia. His rationale was that physical education must be seen as an integral part of the general education process in order to make a meaningful contribution to improvement of the quality of life of young people, that will enable them to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to function effectively in society. Initially, the programme enrolled 35 grade 10 learners. Since then, it grew to include up to a hundred participants from grade 7 to grade 12 as well as a few learners of junior grades, often siblings of senior learners who must take care of them. The junior learners, even though not a primary target of P.A.Y. programme, are then occasionally included in the programme as well. Otherwise, the senior learners would not be able to attend. One of the main reasons that the current education faces so much strain is based on the weak psycho-social circumstances that most of these learners come from. The P.A.Y. model adresses this issue by constructively structuring after school time as well as engaging in a community dialogue with all stakeholders of education process including parents, leaders, administrators and above all, the learners themselves. Through education and sports, P.A.Y. helps decrease juvenile crime, teenage sexual activity and substance abuse. In this way, P.A.Y. contributes a great deal towards positively shaping the lives of underpriviliged youth. Moreover, we provide an opportunity for support and volunteerism, thereby enabling all Namibians to assume responsibility for the future of their communities.
