It becomes very confusing, what is the best magnesium supplement? There are so many different Magnesium Supplements to choose from, and the question is, which one should I take? There are Calcium Magnesium Supplements, Magnesium Oxide Supplements, Magnesium Citrate Supplements, Magnesium Chloride Supplements, Calcium and Magnesium Supplements, You get my point...there is a lot to consider when thinking about Magnesium Supplementation. It's really confusing. What I have done in my book, is I have discussed many of the different types of magnesium supplements and why I specifically prefer the slow release technology. I feel that this truly is the best form of magnesium. It turns out, that when you take magnesium supplements, unfortunately many of the best magnesium supplements are inexpensive, because they contain magnesium hydroxide which tends to have a laxative effect. A lot of the time, the problem is that you cannot tolerate the magnesium oxide supplement and you end up not taking it because of GI problems, loose stools and diarrhea. Because of that, I prefer Magnesium Malate which has a slow release technology so that the magnesium supplementation is absorbed into the body slowly over 6-8 hours, and you don't have the laxative effect. The other way you can take a magnesium supplement, is through a transdermal preparation. You can take it as a spray and you can also take it as magnesium sulfate, which is basically Epson salts. You can get into the bath once or twice a week and put in a cup of magnesium sulfate or Epsom salts. But as I mentioned, the most important thing is that you actually use magnesium supplements and get your magnesium levels into a good optimal range. It is important for you to replenish your magnesium stores so your body and cells can function properly. Once again, I want to point out that the one that I prefer is the slow release technology from Jigsaw, which makes it much easier to take magnesium supplementation. It is good with absorption and has other cofactors that are part of the preparation, like B vitamins, that help with absorption and to help the magnesium supplements to work properly in the body.
