Thomas Kailath (born June 7, 1935 in Pune, India) is an Indian electrical engineer, information theorist, control engineer, entrepreneur and the Hitachi America Professor of Engineering, Emeritus, at Stanford University. Professor Kailath has authored several books, including the well-known book Linear Systems, which ranks as one of the most referenced books in the field of linear systems. Kailath is listed as an ISI highly cited researcher.

Kailath was born in 1935 to a Malayalam-speaking Syrian Christian family . His parents hailed from Kerala. He studied at St. Vincent's High School, Pune and received his engineering Bachelor's degree from the College of Engineering, Pune, the University of Pune in 1956. He received his Master's degree in 1959 and his doctorate degree in 1961, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was the first Indian-born student to receive a doctorate in electrical engineering from MIT.

Kailath is Hitachi America Professor of Engineering, Emeritus, at Stanford University. Here he has supervised about 80 Ph.D. theses.

India (born March 9, 1969), known also as "La Princesa de la Salsa" (engl. "The Princess of Salsa"), is a singer of salsa and House music. She has been nominated for both Grammy and Latin Grammy awards.

Caballero (birth name: Linda Viera Caballero) was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Her parents moved to New York City soon after her birth, and settled down in the South Bronx area of the city. They moved in with Caballero's grandmother, a woman who served as an important influence on Caballero's life. Her stage name "India" was given to Caballero by her grandmother because of her dark features and long straight black hair.

In 1985, when Caballero was 14 years old, she was a founding member of the Latin freestyle group TKA and was featured on the cover of TKA's second single, "Come Get My Love". She left shortly thereafter.

Caballero signed a record contract with Reprise/Warner Bros. Records, which planned on marketing her as the Latin version of Madonna (who recorded for sister label Sire Records). After recording the album Breaking Night, Caballero decided that she didn't want to take that route in her career.

Dr. Toby Berger (born September 4, 1940) is a noted American information theorist.

Berger was born in New York City, received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Yale University in 1962, and doctoral degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University in 1968. From 1962-1968 he was also a senior scientist at Raytheon. From 1968-2005 he taught at Cornell University, and in 2006 joined the University of Virginia. His primary interests have been in information theory, random fields, communication networks, video compression, signature verification, coherent signal processing, and quantum information theory.

Berger is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, an IEEE Fellow, a past president of the IEEE Information Theory Society, and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society for Engineering Education, Sigma Xi, and Tau Beta Pi. He received the 2002 Claude E. Shannon Award for his contributions to information theory, and the 2011 IEEE Richard W. Hamming Medal. Berger is also a co-founder of SightSpeed, a company which originated in his lab at Cornell University.

Joy Thomas is an Indian politician and presently the President of the Kerala State Co-operative Consumers Federation Limited.

Joy Thomas was born in Idukki, Idukki district of Kerala in a Syrian Catholic Christian family. In his entire political career, he has never been alleged of any scam or corruption. He is the "Mister Clean" in Congress politics in Idukki, Kerala. Joy completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from New Man College, Thodupuzha and Bachelor of Law from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.

Joy Thomas started his political career at the age of 14. He worked for the Kerala Students Union in his native town. He was noted by the teachers and the students for his sincere attitude towards the fight for equality. He used to easily win his classroom representative elections by a huge margin. He continued to work for Kerala Students Union while studying in Kerala Law Academy Law College at Thiruvananthapuram. He was appointed as the State Vice President of the Kerala Students Union while Ramesh Chennithala was appointed as the State President. He returned to his native Idukki after his education and was appointed as the Idukki District President of the Indian Youth Congress. He was then given the post as the Idukki District General Secretary of District Congress Committee, a post he held until 2001. After the 2001 Kerala Assembly Elections, he was appointed as the President of Idukki District Congress Committee. He held the post until the end of 2006 Kerala Assembly Elections. He was then appointed as the Idukki District UDF Chairman under the leadership of the State UDF Chairman P.P. Thankachan, who was the acting President of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee in 2004.

Abbas El Gamal (born 1950) is an Egyptian-American electrical engineer, information theorist, and entrepreneur.

He is the Hitachi North America Professor in the Stanford University School of Engineering. He has been named as the recipient of the 2012 Claude E. Shannon Award.
