Massachusetts health care reform
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts passed a health care reform law in 2006 with the aim of providing health insurance to nearly all of its residents. The law mandated that nearly every resident of Massachusetts obtain a minimum level of insurance coverage, provided free health care insurance for residents earning less than 150% of the federal poverty level (FPL) and mandated employers with more than 10 "full-time" employees to provide healthcare insurance. The law was amended significantly in 2008 and twice in 2010 to make it consistent with the federal Affordable Care Act. Major revisions related to health care industry price controls were passed in August 2012, and the employer mandate was repealed in 2013 in favor of the federal mandate (even though enforcement of the federal mandate was delayed until January 2015).
Among its many effects, the law established an independent public authority, the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority, also known as the Massachusetts Health Connector. The Connector acts as an insurance broker to offer free, highly subsidized and full-price private insurance plans to residents, including through its web site. As such it is one of the models of the Affordable Care Act's health insurance exchanges. The 2006 Massachusetts law successfully covered approximately two-thirds of the state's then-uninsured residents, half via federal-government-paid-for Medicaid expansion (administered by MassHealth) and half via the Connector's free and subsidized network-tiered health care insurance for those not eligible for expanded Medicaid. Relatively few Massachusetts residents used the Connector to buy full-priced insurance.

Arkansas
Arkansas (
i/ˈɑːrkənsɔː/) is a state located in the Southern region of the United States. Its name is of Siouan derivation, denoting the Quapaw Indians. The state's diverse geography ranges from the mountainous regions of the Ozark and the Ouachita Mountains, which make up the U.S. Interior Highlands, to the densely forested land in the south known as the Arkansas Timberlands, to the eastern lowlands along the Mississippi River and the Arkansas Delta. Known as "the Natural State", Arkansas has many diverse regions that offer residents and tourists a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Arkansas is the 29th largest in square miles and the 33rd most populous of the 50 United States. The capital and most populous city is Little Rock, located in the central portion of the state, a hub for transportation, business, culture, and government. The northwestern corner of the state, including the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers Metropolitan Area and Fort Smith metropolitan area, is also an important population, education, and economic center. The largest city in the eastern part of the state is Jonesboro. The largest city in the southeastern part of the state is Pine Bluff.

Arkansas (song)
"Arkansas", written by Eva Ware Barnett in 1916, is one of the official state songs of Arkansas. It was first adopted as the state song in the early 20th century, but was removed in 1949 due to a copyright dispute. After the state settled the dispute by buying all claims to its copyright, it was restored as state song in 1963.
In 1987, the General Assembly elevated the song to "state anthem" in order to designate "Arkansas (You Run Deep In Me)" and "Oh, Arkansas", both written for the state's 150th birthday in 1986, as state songs; it also designated "The Arkansas Traveler", the state song from 1949 to 1963, as "state historical song".
Another 1987 law requires the Secretary of State to respond to all requests for copies of the "state song" with this song. However, this was done only to preserve the historical status of this song; all four songs are either copyrighted by the state itself or in the public domain. Today, the Secretary of State posts the lyrics to all four songs on its website.

In Clark Duke’s directorial debut, Kyle (Liam Hemsworth) and Swin (Clark Duke) live by the orders of an Arkansas-based drug kingpin named Frog (Vince Vaughn), whom they’ve never met. Posing as junior park rangers by day, they operate as low-level drug couriers by night under the watchful eye of Frog’s proxies (John Malkovich and Vivica A. Fox). Walmart’s hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas has become a surprising boomtown with many amenities you might expect to find in New York, Austin or San Francisco – fancy restaurants, expensive craft cocktails, beautiful biking and running paths, a world-class art museum and a soon-to-open medical school. The town has more cranes per capita than any other U.S. city, with the biggest project being Walmart’s 350-acre new headquarters. The area population increases by 36 people every day and Bentonville is expected to swell to 200,000 by 2050, about 3.5 times today’s population. Bentonville will soon get another wave of newcomers as Walmart transfers many of its corporate employees from other cities. But with the boom comes big-city economic challenges, including a fast-moving housing market with low inventory and high prices. CNBC’s Melissa Repko travels to Bentonville to find out how Walmart has transformed its hometown.

And does Arkansas have some of the prettiest countryside in the south?
We’ll answer those questions and talk about a whole lot more than just that. So let’s all grab a buggy. Cause we’re gonna unbox the state of Walmart! Also known as Arkansas.
Ok. Here we go. We’re at the best place in the world for retail shopping. Where you can get practically anything you want. Where you can get into a fight over a flatscreen and see people shooting up in the bathroom. Where you can park your RV for a week and no one will care. Where you can get a job at 70 and earn lousy wages. Where they aren’t any real cashiers anymore. Where you can get a whole outfit for church for thirty bucks.
Of course, we are at Walmart. Now Walmart is the butt of many jokes, and it doesn’t have the reputation as being a very glamorous place to shop. But it’s cheap and convenient and 95% of Americans spent money here at some point last year, and YOU were probably here some time last week. More people spend money at Walmart than any other place where you can SPEND money. So, say what you want about Walmart, but it’s definitely a big part of the US culture.
We’re here at Walmart because we’re in Arkansas. And Arkansas is the first ever Walmart was opened, way back in 1962. It’s also where Walmart’s worldwide headquarters is located. I say worldwide because there are more than 10,000 Walmart stores in 23 other countries including many countries in Africa and South America.
But, as you may be aware, Walmart has a bad side. Many Walmart employees make up the bulk of the Arkansas welfare rolls, as many of its workers are among the ranks of the Arkansas working poor. They don’t pay people very much. And Walmart’s dominance here in Arkansas has meant tens of thousands of lost jobs from smaller retail locations, which just can’t compete with the global giant.
Many areas of Arkansas have a frail economy, and there are parts of this state you would never want to live in. And if you’re deciding to move to Arkansas, or just want to know more about this state, you want to know where the good areas are, the bad areas are and where all the rednecks live.

We’ll answer those questions and talk about a whole lot more than just that. So let’s all grab a buggy. Cause we’re gonna unbox the state of Walmart! Also known as Arkansas.
Ok. Here we go. We’re at the best place in the world for retail shopping. Where you can get practically anything you want. Where you can get into a fight over a flatscreen and see people shooting up in the bathroom. Where you can park your RV for a week and no one will care. Where you can get a job at 70 and earn lousy wages. Where they aren’t any real cashiers anymore. Where you can get a whole outfit for church for thirty bucks.
Of course, we are at Walmart. Now Walmart is the butt of many jokes, and it doesn’t have the reputation as being a very glamorous place to shop. But it’s cheap and convenient and 95% of Americans spent money here at some point last year, and YOU were probably here some time last week. More people spend money at Walmart than any other place where you can SPEND money. So, say what you want about Walmart, but it’s definitely a big part of the US culture.

Massachusetts health care reform
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts passed a health care reform law in 2006 with the aim of providing health insurance to nearly all of its residents. The law mandated that nearly every resident of Massachusetts obtain a minimum level of insurance coverage, provided free health care insurance for residents earning less than 150% of the federal poverty level (FPL) and mandated employers with more than 10 "full-time" employees to provide healthcare insurance. The law was amended significantly in 2008 and twice in 2010 to make it consistent with the federal Affordable Care Act. Major revisions related to health care industry price controls were passed in August 2012, and the employer mandate was repealed in 2013 in favor of the federal mandate (even though enforcement of the federal mandate was delayed until January 2015).
Among its many effects, the law established an independent public authority, the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority, also known as the Massachusetts Health Connector. The Connector acts as an insurance broker to offer free, highly subsidized and full-price private insurance plans to residents, including through its web site. As such it is one of the models of the Affordable Care Act's health insurance exchanges. The 2006 Massachusetts law successfully covered approximately two-thirds of the state's then-uninsured residents, half via federal-government-paid-for Medicaid expansion (administered by MassHealth) and half via the Connector's free and subsidized network-tiered health care insurance for those not eligible for expanded Medicaid. Relatively few Massachusetts residents used the Connector to buy full-priced insurance.

Walmart’s hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas has become a surprising boomtown with many amenities you might expect to find in New York, Austin or San Francisco – fancy restaurants, expensive craft cocktails, beautiful biking and running paths, a world-class art museum and a soon-to-open medical school. The town has more cranes per capita than any other U.S. city, with the biggest project being Walmart’s 350-acre new headquarters. The area population increases by 36 people every day and Bentonville is expected to swell to 200,000 by 2050, about 3.5 times today’s population. Bentonville will soon get another wave of newcomers as Walmart transfers many of its corporate employees from other cities. But with the boom comes big-city economic challenges, including a fast-moving housing market with low inventory and high prices. CNBC’s Melissa Repko travels to Bentonville to find out how Walmart has transformed its hometown.

We’ll answer those questions and talk about a whole lot more than just that. So let’s all grab a buggy. Cause we’re gonna unbox the state of Walmart! Also known as Arkansas.
Ok. Here we go. We’re at the best place in the world for retail shopping. Where you can get practically anything you want. Where you can get into a fight over a flatscreen and see people shooting up in the bathroom. Where you can park your RV for a week and no one will care. Where you can get a job at 70 and earn lousy wages. Where they aren’t any real cashiers anymore. Where you can get a whole outfit for church for thirty bucks.
Of course, we are at Walmart. Now Walmart is the butt of many jokes, and it doesn’t have the reputation as being a very glamorous place to shop. But it’s cheap and convenient and 95% of Americans spent money here at some point last year, and YOU were probably here some time last week. More people spend money at Walmart than any other place where you can SPEND money. So, say what you want about Walmart, but it’s definitely a big part of the US culture.
We’re here at Walmart because we’re in Arkansas. And Arkansas is the first ever Walmart was opened, way back in 1962. It’s also where Walmart’s worldwide headquarters is located. I say worldwide because there are more than 10,000 Walmart stores in 23 other countries including many countries in Africa and South America.
But, as you may be aware, Walmart has a bad side. Many Walmart employees make up the bulk of the Arkansas welfare rolls, as many of its workers are among the ranks of the Arkansas working poor. They don’t pay people very much. And Walmart’s dominance here in Arkansas has meant tens of thousands of lost jobs from smaller retail locations, which just can’t compete with the global giant.
Many areas of Arkansas have a frail economy, and there are parts of this state you would never want to live in. And if you’re deciding to move to Arkansas, or just want to know more about this state, you want to know where the good areas are, the bad areas are and where all the rednecks live.
This is Arkansas.
