Caryl Churchill (born 3 September 1938) is an English dramatist known for her use of non-naturalistic techniques and feminist themes, the abuses of power, and sexual politics. She is acknowledged as a major playwright in the English language and a leading female writer. Her early work developed Brecht's modernist dramatic and theatrical techniques of ‘Epic theatre’ to explore issues around gender and sexuality. From A Mouthful of Birds (1986) onwards, she began to experiment with forms of dance-theatre, incorporating techniques developed from the performance tradition initiated by Artaud with his 'Theatre of Cruelty'. This move away from a clear Fabel dramaturgy towards increasingly fragmented and surrealistic narratives characterizes her work as postmodernist.

Churchill was born in London, England, the daughter of Jan, a fashion model, and Robert Churchill, a political cartoonist. After World War II her family emigrated to Montreal, Canada at ten years old, where she attended Trafalgar School for Girls. She returned to England to attend university, and graduated from Lady Margaret Hall, a women’s college of the Oxford University, in 1960 with a B.A. degree in English Literature. She also began her career there. Her four earliest plays, Downstairs (produced 1958),You've No Need to be Frightened, Having a Wonderful Time (1960), and Easy Death (produced 1962) were performed by Oxford-based theatrical ensembles-student drama groups.

Robert Pine (born July 10, 1941) is an American actor who has starred on television and in film. He is probably best known for his role as Sgt. Joseph Getraer on the hit NBC television series CHiPs from 1977 to 1983.

Pine was born Granville Whitelaw Pine in Scarsdale, New York, the son of Virginia (née Whitelaw) and Granville Martin Pine, a patent attorney. He is married to actress Gwynne Gilford, who made a couple of appearances on CHiPs as the wife of Sgt. Joe Getraer. They are the parents of actors Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Katie Pine.

Pine starred on the soap operas Days of our Lives as Walker Coleman in 1987 and on The Bold and the Beautiful as Stephen Logan in 1988, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2000, and 2001. He also starred in the 2001 science fiction TV series Black Scorpion as Major Worth. Moreover, he has appeared in numerous films: Independence Day (1996), as the President's Chief of Staff; Red Eye (2005), as a grumpy hotel guest; Empire of the Ants (1977); The Brotherhood of the Bell (1970), and his first film, Gunpoint (1966).
