National accounts or national account systems (NAS) are the implementation of complete and consistent accounting techniques for measuring the economic activity of a nation. These include detailed underlying measures that rely on double-entry accounting. By construction such accounting makes the totals on both sides of an account equal even though they each measure different characteristics, for example production and the income from it. As a method, the subject is termed national accounting or, more generally, social accounting. Stated otherwise, national accounts as systems may be distinguished from the economic data associated with those systems. While sharing many common principles with business accounting, national accounts are based on economic concepts.

National accounting has developed in tandem with macroeconomics from the 1930s with its relation of aggregate demand to total output through interaction of such broad expenditure categories as consumption and investment.Economic data from national accounts are also used for empirical analysis of economic growth and development.

Daniel Dion "Dan" O'Brien (born July 18, 1966 in Portland, Oregon) is a former American decathlete. He was deemed one of the best decathlon athletes of the 1990s, winning an Olympic gold medal after winning three consecutive world titles.

Dan O'Brien is of African American and Finnish heritage and grew up as an adopted child in an Irish-American family in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He graduated from Henley High School (Klamath Falls, Oregon) in 1984 and the University of Idaho in 1989, where he competed in track and field. His name is attached to the university's outdoor track and field venue, where he quietly trained for his Olympic and world championships under the aid of Idaho's track coach, Mike Keller. The complex underwent a $2.5 million renovation in 2011-12, and O'Brien was on hand in May 2012 to re-dedicate it.

O'Brien won the Olympic gold medal for decathlon at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and also won gold medals at the 1991, 1993, and 1995 World Championships in Athletics.

Professor Sir Partha Sarathi Dasgupta, FRS, FBA (born November 17, 1942), is the Frank Ramsey Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom; Fellow of St John's College, Cambridge; and Professorial Research Fellow at the University of Manchester. He was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, then in India, and is the son of the noted economist A.K. Dasgupta. He is married to Carol Dasgupta, who is a psychotherapist. His father-in-law was the Noble Laureate James Meade They have three children, Zubeida Dasgupta-Clark (an educational psychologist), Shamik (a philosophy professor) and Aisha (who works on reproductive health in poor countries).

Research interests have covered welfare and development economics; the economics of technological change; population, environmental, and resource economics; social capital; the theory of games; the economics of global warming,and the economics of malnutrition.

Dasgupta was educated in Rajghat Besant School in Varanasi, India, obtaining his Matriculation Degree in 1958, and pursued undergraduate studies in Physics at the University of Delhi, India, graduating in 1962 and in Mathematics at Trinity College Cambridge, graduating in 1965. He obtained a PhD in Economics at Cambridge in 1968. His PhD supervisor was Professor Sir James Mirrlees. At Cambridge he was a member of the Cambridge Apostles, a distinguished intellectual society.

Pete Jones (born September 1957) is a musician who played bass in different bands since the punk rock era of the 1970s, but is known for being a member of Public Image Ltd., during 1982-1983. He played bass guitar on PiL's highest charting UK single "This is Not a Love Song" as well as recording "Commercial Zone" whilst with the band in New York

He was born near Watford, England, to an ex-merchant seaman who also sang and played ukulele. After learning guitar and listening to discs from his father's collection, he formed his band in school, Cosmosis, where he began to play bass.

During punk days, in the late 1970s, he played in The Hots with Martin Atkins, formerly Blonde (not Blondie). After The Hots split up, he was asked to join Cowboys International, touring with them across Europe. After that he formed part of Brian Brain with Atkins, then joined Public Image Ltd. while he was in the band. He left PiL in 1983 and has since produced his own material under his own name and released several CDs. Jones had also done various cross-collaborating with Mikee Plastik over the years. In 2008 he teamed up with Fred Suard to form the Creepy Dolls and released an EP entitled Grande Finale. Pete currently lives with his wife Jane and owns a ceramic art studio.
