The Dim River (in Turkish Dim Çayı), located by the Dim Dam, is one of the must see attractions in Alanya, Turkey. The beautiful green/ forested river valley area is apparently the favorite place for locals to visit, keep cool and have a family picnic / day out. What makes this river very unique is the way the restaurants have been built alongside the river, not only are they alongside the river but tables are also located on platforms in the river. You can actually sit and have a meal at a restaurant and be sitting on the Dim Cay River (Dim Çayı). At some of the restaurants you can even catch your own fish (trout). We came across a small trout farm on the road. It looked like the locals really enjoyed being "on" the river and it was nice to see that some of the river was also free from man made structures so that one could enjoy the natural beauty of this river valley. This video is long but I do hope that it can provide you with some of the atmosphere of the place. My wife and I where staying in western Alanya in July. We caught one of the local Dolmus (local minivan bus / Hop on hop off) buses there on our own (two connections and we where there). We caught the wrong Dolmus bus twice but eventually got it right. The river flows westwards towards the Mediterranean Sea and is fed by the river systems in the highlands of the Konya Province.
