US successfully tests B-61 atomic bomb
The US has successfully tested an updated version of a B-61 atomic bomb in defiance of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which calls for nuclear disarmament. The National Nuclear Security Administration said in a statement that the test was conducted on Tuesday by the Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories, National Journal reported. God Bless you. Daily Devotional for Feb 17 Psalms 17:15 15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. *** * *** Sometimes I Wonder, Do You? When I awake in heaven, I will be fully satisfied, for I will see You face-to-face. Psalm 17:15 (TLB) Andrew Murray: "Oh, the thought to have God all alone to myself, and to know that God has me all alone to Himself." Seeing You "face-to-face." I will, no doubt, be beside myself. My heart will be racing and I'll be nervous and awfully excited'"all a-flutter." I've read books about the early pioneer days and how ordering a bride by mail was a common practice. I can imagine how "all a-flutter" a woman would be as she was on the last leg of her journey, riding the stage into the town where her new husband would step up and claim her as his bride. Oh, they would have been corresponding and would know a lot about each other, but seeing him face-to-face would be nothing short of emotional basket-weaving'in and out and up and down and around and over the top and through the bottom and in and out. . . . Lord, I don't want You to misunderstand me. I'm anticipating that time when I'll see You face-to-face, and I know within my heart that it will be more wonderful than I can possibly imagine. But sometimes I wonder. . . . You are so precious to me today. The way we walk and talk together. And I don't have to share You with anyone else. You are constantly with me'as close as my every breath. When I can't go to sleep, I talk to You. You're there. When I'm all alone and singing love songs to You, You're listening. (You are so polite.) You've kept every tear I cried in a bottle. These things bring me so close to You. Will our relationship be as sweet in Heaven? I won't need You then as I need You now. I won't rush to You for comfort and understanding. I won't need to talk to You about my problems. There'll be huge crowds vying for Your attention . . . and You know how I am about crowds'I just won't go rather than get in a shoving match with a bunch of people. Will You still hold my hand? Can I still snuggle down in Your lap when things go wrong? (But things won't be "going wrong" in Heaven, so I won't need to sit on Your lap, will I?) I like to close my eyes and climb the mountain with You when You isolate Yourself for prayer. And we won't be doing that anymore. I like the story about your walking with the men on the road to Emmaus'just strolling and talking. continue at bible.com as it was to long for YT. ♥†♥ John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ♥†♥ PRAYER OF SALVATION "God in Heaven, I believe Your Son Jesus Christ came to earth, died on the cross for my sins and that You raised him from the dead! Atomic Bomb B 61- U.S Tests New Generation Weapon (Farsi)
United States announced successful test of the new generation of its arsenal of B 61 Atomic bombs. Credit Lenziran Newsvideo --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The B61 nuclear bomb is one of the primary thermonuclear weapons in the U.S. Enduring Stockpile following the end of the Cold War. It is an intermediate yield strategic and tactical nuclear weapon featuring a two-stage radiation implosion design. The B61 is a variable yield bomb (0.3 to 340 kiloton yield in various versions and settings) designed for carriage by high-speed aircraft. It has a streamlined casing capable of withstanding supersonic flight speeds. The weapon is 11 ft 8 in (3.58 m) long, with a diameter of about 13 in (33 cm). Basic weight is about 700 lb (320 kg), although the weights of individual weapons may vary depending on version and fuze/retardation configuration. The B61, known before 1968 as the TX-61, was designed in 1963. It was designed and built by the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. It began from a program for a lightweight, streamlined weapon launched in 1961. Production engineering began in 1965, with full production beginning in 1968 following a series of development problems. Total production of all versions was approximately 3,155, of which approximately 1,925 remain in service as of 2002, and some 1,265 are considered to be operational.[citation needed] The warhead has changed little over the years, although early versions have been upgraded to improve the safety features. According to the journal "Physics Today", September 2013, page 45, there are 200 B61 bombs actively in use by the United States. Nine versions of the B61 have been produced. Each shares the same "physics package", with different yield options. The newest variant is the B61 Mod 11, deployed in 1997, which is a ground-penetrating bunker buster. The B61 unguided bomb should not be confused with the MGM-1 Matador cruise missile, which originally was developed under the bomber designation B-61. When the B61 was still classified, aircrew were not allowed to use the term "B61". Instead, it was referred to as a "shape", "silver bullet", or even "external delivery".- published: 08 Feb 2014

SUPER ADVANCED US Air Force B-2 stealth bomber
SUPER ADVANCED US Air Force B-2 stealth bomber
Aircraft stealth us air force The Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, also known as the Stealth Bomber, is an American strategic bomber, featuring low observable stealth technology designed for penetrating dense anti-aircraft defenses; it is able to deploy both conventional and nuclear weapons. The bomber has a crew of two and can drop up to eighty 500 lb (230 kg)-class JDAM GPS-guided bombs, or sixteen 2,400 lb (1,100 kg) B83 nuclear bombs. The B-2 is the only aircraft that can carry large air-to-surface standoff weapons in a stealth configuration. Development originally started under the "Advanced Technology Bomber" (ATB) project during the Carter administration, and its performance was one of his reasons for the cancellation of the supersonic Rockwell B-1 Lancer. ATB continued during the Reagan administration, but worries about delays in its introduction led to the reinstatement of the B-1 program as well. Program costs rose throughout development. Designed and manufactured by Northrop Grumman with assistance from Boeing, the cost of each aircraft averaged US$737 million (in 1997 dollars).[3] Total procurement costs averaged $929 million per aircraft, which includes spare parts, equipment, retrofitting, and software support.[3] The total program cost including development, engineering and testing, averaged $2.1 billion per aircraft in 1997.[3] Because of its considerable capital and operating costs, the project was controversial in the U.S. Congress and among the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The winding-down of the Cold War in the latter portion of the 1980s dramatically reduced the need for the aircraft, which was designed with the intention of penetrating Soviet airspace and attacking high-value targets. During the late 1980s and 1990s, Congress slashed plans to purchase 132 bombers to 21. In 2008, a B-2 was destroyed in a crash shortly after takeoff, and the crew ejected safely.[4] A total of 20 B-2s remain in service with the United States Air Force, who plan to operate the B-2 until 2058.[5] The B-2 is capable of all-altitude attack missions up to 50,000 feet (15,000 m), with a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles (11,000 km) unrefuelled and over 10,000 nautical miles (19,000 km) with one refueling. Though originally designed primarily as a nuclear bomber, it was first used in combat to drop conventional bombs on Serbia during the Kosovo War in 1999, and saw continued use during the war in Iraq and in Afghanistan.[6] Overview The B-2 Spirit was developed to take over the USAF's vital penetration missions, able to travel deep into enemy territory to deploy their ordnance, which could include nuclear weapons.[59] The B-2 is a flying wing aircraft, meaning it has no fuselage or tail.[59] The blending of low-observable technologies with high aerodynamic efficiency and large payload gives the B-2 significant advantages over previous bombers. Low observability provides a greater freedom of action at high altitudes, thus increasing both range and field of view for onboard sensors. The U.S. Air Force reports its range as approximately 6,000 nautical miles (6,900 mi; 11,000 km).[6][60] At cruising altitude the B-2 refuels every six hours, taking on up to 50 short tons (45 t) of fuel at a time.[61] Due to the aircraft's complex flight characteristics and design requirements to maintain very-low visibility to multiple means of detection, both the development and construction of the B-2 required pioneering use of computer-aided design and manufacturing technologies.[59][62] Northrop Grumman is the B-2's prime contractor; other contributing subcontractors include Boeing, Raytheon (formerly Hughes Aircraft), G.E. and Vought Aircraft.[6] The B-2 bears a resemblance to earlier Northrop aircraft: the YB-35 and YB-49 were both flying wing bombers that had been canceled in development in the early 1950s,[63] allegedly for political reasons.[64] As of September 2013 about 80 pilots fly the B-2.[61] Each aircraft has a crew of two, a pilot in the left seat and mission commander in the right,[6] and has provisions for a third crew member if needed.[65] For comparison, the B-1B has a crew of four and the B-52 has a crew of five.[6] The B-2 is highly automated and, unlike most two-seat aircraft, one crew member can sleep in a camp bed, use a toilet, or prepare a hot meal while the other monitors the aircraft; extensive sleep cycle and fatigue research was conducted to improve crew performance on long sorties.[66][67][61] The B-2, in the envisaged Cold War scenario, was to perform deep-penetrating nuclear strike missions, making use of its stealthy capabilities to avoid detection and interception throughout missions.[68] There are two internal bomb bays in which munitions are stored either on a rotary launcher or two bomb-racks; the carriage of the weapons loadouts internally results in less radar visibility than externally mounting of munitions.[69][70] Nuclear ordnance includes the B61 and B83 nuclear bombs- published: 24 Mar 2014

. Posted: Feb 17, 2014 1:09 AM EST Updated: Feb 17, 2014 1:10 AM EST CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Energy stressed Sunday that no surface contamination has been found after airborne radiation was detected underground at a southeastern New Mexico site where the government stores low-grade nuclear waste. The department says that tests were taken at several sites around the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant after a monitor found radiation on underground levels late Friday night. No workers were underground and no injuries or damages have been reported. A news release Sunday reflected information provided Saturday and said the "DOE emphasizes there is no danger to human health or the environment." Officials say the source of the radiation is still being investigated, but they don't know when crews will go underground at the nation's only deep geologic waste repository. An underground vehicle fire at the site earlier this month prompted an evacuation, but officials don't think the two events are related. http://www.newswest9.com/story/24740662/doe-crews-monitors-nm-nuclear-site-for-radiation... Meeting the Terrorist Threat circa 1972 US Defense Nuclear Agency
more at http://quickfound.net Dramatization of an attack by a group of 8-10 terrorists on a nuclear weapons storage site, and how that attack would be met. Shows security improvements needed to make weapons more secure. Public domain film from the US government, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weapons_Storage_and_Security_System Weapons Storage and Security System (WS3) is a system including electronic controls and vaults built into the floors of Protective Aircraft Shelters (PAS) on several United States and NATO military airfields all over the world. These vaults are used for safe special weapons storage, typically of tactical B61 nuclear bombs. This system was in NATO not officially a.k.a. Weapon Security and Survivability System (WS3) or Weapons Survivability and Security System... During the Cold War era on the US and NATO bases used by the Quick Reaction Alert readiness forces numbers of bombs were stored in a heavily secured Weapon storage area located on or in the vicinity of the base. The ‘specials’ were located in nuclear weapon (igloo) bunkers. Transporting them to and from the Quick Reaction Alert area (a few heavily guarded aircraft shelters near the main runway) during exercises and for logistic reasons always required a convoy with a large number (appx 50 armed military) of security forces which included a Security Alert Team, Backup Alert and Reserve Force team. The WS3 system consists of a Weapons Storage Vault (WSV) and electronic monitoring and control systems. One vault can hold up to four nuclear weapons and in the lowered position provides ballistic protection through its hardened lid and reinforced sidewalls. The WS3 system allowed storage directly underneath the aircraft intended to carry the bombs. The location inside the aircraft shelter increased the weapon survivability in case of any kind of attack and prevent monitoring of preparations to use the weapons. The electronic systems include various classified sensors, electronic data-transmission and security equipment such as video, motion detectors, closed circuit TV coupled with thermal imaging devices. These facilities enabled remote controlled weapon safety and made the large security forces obsolete. Deployment of the WS3 system was authorized in 1988, and they were in widespread use by 1995. 215 WS3 vaults were built for the United States Air Forces in Europe at 13 sites in seven countries. Additionally 34 WS3 vaults were built for the Royal Air Force to store the WE.177 nuclear bomb; 10 at RAF Brüggen in Germany and 24 at RAF Marham in Britain... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_terrorism Nuclear terrorism denotes the detonation of a yield-producing nuclear bomb containing fissile material by terrorists. Some definitions of nuclear terrorism include the sabotage of a nuclear facility and/or the detonation of a radiological device, colloquially termed a dirty bomb, but consensus is lacking. In legal terms, nuclear terrorism is an offense committed if a person unlawfully and intentionally “uses in any way radioactive material … with the intent to cause death or serious bodily injury; or with the intent to cause substantial damage to property or to the environment; or with the intent to compel a natural or legal person, an international organization or a State to do or refrain from doing an act”, according to the 2005 United Nations International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism. The possibility of terrorist organizations using nuclear weapons (especially very small ones, such as suitcase nukes) has been a threat in American rhetoric and culture. It is considered plausible that terrorists could acquire a nuclear weapon. In 2011, the British news agency, the Telegraph, received leaked documents regarding the Guantanamo Bay interrogations of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. The documents cited Khalid saying that, if Osama bin Laden is captured or killed by the Coalition of the Willing, an al-Qaeda sleeper cell will detonate a "weapon of mass destruction" in a "secret location" in Europe, and promised it would be "a nuclear hellstorm". However despite some reported thefts and trafficking of small quantities of fissile material, all concern less than category III Special nuclear material quantities, there is therefore no credible evidence that any terrorist group has ever succeeded in obtaining Category I SNM, the necessary multi-kilogram critical mass quantities of weapons grade plutonium required to make a nuclear weapon...- published: 08 Aug 2014
