Salalah
Salalah (Arabic: صلالة‎ transliterated á¹¢alÄ?lah), is the capital and seat of the wali (governor) of the southern Omani province of Dhofar. Its population in 2009 was 197,169.
Salalah is the second largest city in the Sultanate of Oman, and the largest city in the Dhofar Province. Salalah is the birthplace of the Sultan, Qaboos bin Said. Salalah attracts lots of people from other parts of Oman and GCC during the Khareef season, which starts from July to September.
The climate of the region and the monsoon allows the city to grow some vegetables and fruits like coconut.
History
Salalah was the traditional capital of Dhofar, which reached the peak of prosperity in the 13th century thanks to the incense trade. Later it decayed, and in the 19th century it was absorbed by the Sultanate of Muscat. Between 1932 and 1970, Salalah was the capital of the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman under Said bin Taimur. After the latter's death, his son Qaboos decided to move the capital of Oman to Muscat.
The Sultan traditionally lives in Salalah rather than in Muscat, the capital and largest city in Oman; Qaboos has bucked this trend, and has lived in Muscat since he ascended to the throne in 1970. He does, however, visit Salalah fairly regularly to meet with influential tribal and local leaders; his last visit was in 2010 and before that he visited in 2006.

Rawalakot (Urdu: راولا کوٹ ‎), is a town in Poonch, Kashmir and is the district headquarters of Poonch Division and Poonch District.
Location
Rawalakot is located at Latitude 33°51'32.18"N, Longitude 73° 45'34.93"E and an Elevation of 5374 feet. Rawalakot is approximately 76 kilometres (47 mi) from Kahuta and about 120 km (75 mi) from the city of Rawalpindi. It is linked with Rawalpindi and Islamabad via Goyain Nala and Tain roads. Via Kotli Satiyan and Kahuta. It is also linked with Rawalpindi via Sudhnuti.

Bagh District lies to the north and Sudhnuti District lies to the south of Rawalakot.

The scenic drives in Salalah are a treat for the eyes, with roads lined with trees on both sides and fabulous views all around. The well-maintained roads make exploring the city a joyous experience. 🚗🌳
During our visit, we encountered beautiful waterfalls, wadis (valleys), caves, streams, and fresh springs. The greenery and positive vibes of Salalah left us mesmerized. ��💦
Salalah is also blessed with sandy white beaches, swaying palm trees, and the famous frankincense trees, which are a specialty of Oman. Exploring the local castles, mosques, and souks added to the cultural experience of our trip. 🕌�

Welcome to the last episode of the Oman series. We saved the best for the last! Salalah is one of the most beautiful regions of Oman that you'll ever witness. The lush green landscapes, the abundant waterfalls and the cool climate, all add to the charm of your Oman trip and make the best of it.
Make sure however, you visit during Khareef season (monsoon) which is late June to September, if you wish to see the region flourish with greenery and cascading waterfalls.
Here’s some important information about Oman:
FLIGHTS TO OMAN:
You can get multiple direct flight options from Indian cities to Muscat and they are as cheap as Ra 19,000 return per person. The duration is just 2.5 hrs from Mumbai
VISA FOR OMAN:
Oman needs just an E-Visa for Indian passport holders. A 10-day E-visa costs Rs 3000 and takes 3 working days to arrive
DATE TRAVELLED:
I travelled in June which is peak summer. A good time would be From End of July to Feb
GETTING AROUND OMAN:
I did this trip by myself but you can always hire a local guide who can get you around some hidden spots in Oman because trust me there are so many! You'll find a guide on Instagram, if you search Oman guide. Or you can just stick to my itinerary and follow the same route.
DRIVING IN OMAN:
The roads in Oman are some of the finest you will find and this was a 10-day road trip that I did. Renting a car is the most expensive but also the best option possible because public transport isn't so efficient plus can cost you a lot more.
In Muscat alone you'll find every second shop to be a car rental. I got mine from Car2Go Rental in Ghala area and it cost me around Rs 36,000 (I got it for 30 days not 10 since I needed extra kms) Indian Driving license works.
We drove a total of 4000 kms in 10 days.
FOOD IN OMAN:
Food is at the heart of Oman. As an Indian specially, you'll find tons of Indian restaurants and only-veg restaurants too. There's also so many amazing local options available. A suggestion would be to eat a local shawarma or roll at small shops that read "burgers and shakes" - they serve the cheapest and BEST shawarmas!!
DRONE POLICY IN OMAN:
Drones are not allowed in Oman officially. Incase your luggage is scanned at the exit at Muscat airport, they will hold your drone at the airport and keep it safe and you can re-claim it upon your departure from Muscat airport. Omani locals do fly drones in Oman.

Beauty Of Rawalakot City 2019 Kashmir Drone footage.
Rawalakot is a Capital city of Poonch district in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It is located in the Pir Panjal Range. Its other name is Pearl Valley because the abundance of almond blossoms in the valley in summer gives the impression of scattered pearls when viewed from a mountain. It is the heart land of Sudhan tribes which had contributed about sixty thousand soldiers to the British Army during World War.
Tourism:
Banjosa and Toli pir two popular tourism destination in this area. Lodges, government-owned and private guest houses, and hotels are available in different parts of Rawalakot. Attractions include: mountain-based adventure tourism, rock climbing, mountaineering, trekking, summer camping and hiking, water-based adventure tourism, and paragliding. A Temple is located about two kilometer away from city Rawalakot near the upper block Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, The University of Poonch. Standing near the temple presents a charming sight of Rawalakot city also the beautiful view of University of Poonch.

Oman needs just an E-Visa for Indian passport holders. A 10-day E-visa costs Rs 3000 and takes 3 working days to arrive
DATE TRAVELLED:
I travelled in June which is peak summer. A good time would be From End of July to Feb
GETTING AROUND OMAN:
I did this trip by myself but you can always hire a local guide who can get you around some hidden spots in Oman because trust me there are so many! You'll find a guide on Instagram, if you search Oman guide. Or you can just stick to my itinerary and follow the same route.
DRIVING IN OMAN:
The roads in Oman are some of the finest you will find and this was a 10-day road trip that I did. Renting a car is the most expensive but also the best option possible because public transport isn't so efficient plus can cost you a lot more.
In Muscat alone you'll find every second shop to be a car rental. I got mine from Car2Go Rental in Ghala area and it cost me around Rs 36,000 (I got it for 30 days not 10 since I needed extra kms) Indian Driving license works.
We drove a total of 4000 kms in 10 days.
FOOD IN OMAN:
Food is at the heart of Oman. As an Indian specially, you'll find tons of Indian restaurants and only-veg restaurants too. There's also so many amazing local options available. A suggestion would be to eat a local shawarma or roll at small shops that read "burgers and shakes" - they serve the cheapest and BEST shawarmas!!
DRONE POLICY IN OMAN:
Drones are not allowed in Oman officially. Incase your luggage is scanned at the exit at Muscat airport, they will hold your drone at the airport and keep it safe and you can re-claim it upon your departure from Muscat airport. Omani locals do fly drones in Oman.

Salalah
Salalah (Arabic: صلالة‎ transliterated á¹¢alÄ?lah), is the capital and seat of the wali (governor) of the southern Omani province of Dhofar. Its population in 2009 was 197,169.
Salalah is the second largest city in the Sultanate of Oman, and the largest city in the Dhofar Province. Salalah is the birthplace of the Sultan, Qaboos bin Said. Salalah attracts lots of people from other parts of Oman and GCC during the Khareef season, which starts from July to September.
The climate of the region and the monsoon allows the city to grow some vegetables and fruits like coconut.
History
Salalah was the traditional capital of Dhofar, which reached the peak of prosperity in the 13th century thanks to the incense trade. Later it decayed, and in the 19th century it was absorbed by the Sultanate of Muscat. Between 1932 and 1970, Salalah was the capital of the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman under Said bin Taimur. After the latter's death, his son Qaboos decided to move the capital of Oman to Muscat.
The Sultan traditionally lives in Salalah rather than in Muscat, the capital and largest city in Oman; Qaboos has bucked this trend, and has lived in Muscat since he ascended to the throne in 1970. He does, however, visit Salalah fairly regularly to meet with influential tribal and local leaders; his last visit was in 2010 and before that he visited in 2006.

In this episode I started from Rawalakot where I stayed overnight and rode to Toli Peer which is one of the most beautiful peak with green meadows in Poonch district. I did stayed at the top by doing wild camping.

Rawalakot is a Capital city of Poonch district in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It is located in the Pir Panjal Range. Its other name is Pearl Valley because the abundance of almond blossoms in the valley in summer gives the impression of scattered pearls when viewed from a mountain. It is the heart land of Sudhan tribes which had contributed about sixty thousand soldiers to the British Army during World War.
Tourism:
Banjosa and Toli pir two popular tourism destination in this area. Lodges, government-owned and private guest houses, and hotels are available in different parts of Rawalakot. Attractions include: mountain-based adventure tourism, rock climbing, mountaineering, trekking, summer camping and hiking, water-based adventure tourism, and paragliding. A Temple is located about two kilometer away from city Rawalakot near the upper block Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, The University of Poonch. Standing near the temple presents a charming sight of Rawalakot city also the beautiful view of University of Poonch.

Rawalakot is the capital of the Poonch District of Azad Kashmir. It is in a saucer-shaped valley at elevation 1615 metres (5300 ft), and 76 km from Kohalla. There is also a road connection with Rawalpindi and Islamabad via the neighboring districts of Azad Pattan and Dhalkot, and with Muzaffarabad via Kohalla and sudhangali. There are many people around the world that have connections of some sort to this part of the world. South East England has a number of people that emigrated from Rawalakot to places such as London and Sussex.
