AM Radio History
AM Radio History
The technology of amplitude modulation (AM) radio transmission was developed during the two decades from 1900 to 1920. Before this, the first radios transmitted information by wireless telegraphy, in which the radio signal didn't carry audio (sound) but was switched on and off to create pulses that carried text messages in Morse code. This was used for private person-to-person traffic, similar to telegrams. The first AM radio transmission took place in 1906 from a garage in Brant Rock, Massachusetts. After six years of hard work, Reginald Fessenden, a Canadian inventor transmitted the world's first voice message by using an Alexanderson alternator and a rotary spark-gap transmitter. His message was heard by radio-equipped ships within a range of several hundred miles away from the transmission point- published: 15 Dec 2013

Was bedeutet GX53? (www.GX53.ch)
Was bedeutet GX53? (www.GX53.ch)
http://www.gx53.ch Was bedeutet GX53?

Cantique Noel (Oh Holy Night)
Cantique Noel (Oh Holy Night)
An improvised performance of this beautiful Christmas song on the piano. (This is one of those songs that have been performed by a lot of famous people, but I won't let that stop me. ;-) ) Accompanied with winter photographs; I'm sorry I don't have a lot of night time photographs (something I hope to remedy) & I hope you'll forgive that the music is an awful lot more dramatic than the pictures! Interesting bit of trivia about this piece of music.... "On December 24, 1906, Reginald Fessenden, a Canadian inventor, broadcast the first AM radio program, which started with a phonograph record of Handel's aria "Ombra mai fu" followed by Fessenden playing "O Holy Night" on the violin and singing the final verse. As such, the carol was the second piece of music to be broadcast on radio." (From Wikipedia) For those that might be interested; here is a performance of the song on the panflute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVwrzVB3YBM :-) **** O holy night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining, 'Til He appear'd and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born; O night divine, O night, O night Divine. Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming, With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand. So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming, Here come the wise men from Orient land. The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger; In all our trials born to be our friend. He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger, Behold your King! Before Him lowly bend! Behold your King, Before Him lowly bend!- published: 18 Dec 2013
