Rape of Pevensey
The Rape of Pevensey is one of the rapes, the traditional sub-divisions unique to the historic county of Sussex in England.
History
William the Conqueror granted the rape of Pevensey to his half-brother Robert, Count of Mortain shortly after the Norman Conquest.
Location
Pevensey rape lies between the rape of Lewes to the west and the rape of Hastings to the east. The north-west of the rape is bounded by the county of Surrey and the north-east of the rape by the county of Kent. To the south lies the English Channel. The rape of Pevensey includes the towns of Crowborough, Eastbourne and East Grinstead. At 242 metres (794 ft) tall, Crowborough Beacon in the High Weald is the highest point in the rape.

Pevensey
Coordinates: 50°49′13″N 0°20′18″E / 50.8203°N 0.3383°E / 50.8203; 0.3383
Pevensey is a village and civil parish in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. The main village is located 5 miles (8 km) north-east of Eastbourne, one mile (1.6 km) inland from Pevensey Bay. The settlement of Pevensey Bay forms part of the parish. It was here that William the Conqueror first landed on and invaded England in 1066 after crossing the English Channel from Normandy, France.
Geography
Pevensey is situated on a spur of sand and clay, about 10 metres (33 ft) above sea level. In Roman times this spur was a peninsula that projected into a tidal lagoon and marshes. A small river, Pevensey Haven, runs along the north side of the peninsula and would originally have discharged into the lagoon, but is now largely silted up. The lagoon extended inland as far north as Hailsham and eastwards to Hooe. With the effect of longshore drift this large bay was gradually cut off from the sea by shingle, so that today's marshes are all that remain behind the shingle beach.

I released a short video of myself sea swimming to highlight the benefits of cold water therapy which received over 20 000 views in just 4 days on Facebook. I had countless requests from people wanting to join me. See the magic unfold in the community of Pevensey Bay and surrounding towns and villages of Sussex. I manage to convince more and more people to come plunge in the sea with me every day of which many had never tried this before and some even experienced huge changes in their lives relieving symptoms of fibromyalgia and arthritis. Founded in the 4th century as one of the last of the Roman 'Saxon Shore' forts, Pevensey Castle was also the landing place of William the Conqueror's army in 1066. Later it was pressed back into service as an emergency stronghold in the Second World War — you can still see machine gun posts camouflaged into the castle walls.

The site is a Scheduled Monument in the care of English Heritage and is open to visitors. Built around 290 AD and known to the Romans as Anderitum, the fort appears to have been the base for a fleet called the Classis Anderidaensis.

In the Third in a Series of Videos from a Mini Road Trip to East Sussex, I take a Walk around Pevensey Village where William the Conqueror made the Landing in 1066 for his Invasion of England after crossing the English Channel from Normandy. I reminisce about Paranormal Investigations we did at Pevensey Court House back in 2010 and Explore St Nicolas Church, whose Origins can be traced back to the Roman Occupation and Built on the Original site of a Saxon Church Dating from the Fifth Century.

Last month I started a cold water therapy sea swimming group called The Pevensey Plungers.
This vlog is part one of how it all began. I released a short video of myself sea swimming to highlight the benefits of cold water therapy which received over 20 000 views in just 4 days on Facebook. I had countless requests from people wanting to join me.
See the magic unfold in the community of Pevensey Bay and surrounding towns and villages of Sussex.
I manage to convince more and more people to come plunge in the sea with me every day of which many had never tried this before and some even experienced huge changes in their lives relieving symptoms of fibromyalgia and arthritis. The mental health benefits for everyone on this journey were so apparent. You’ll see all the happy smiling faces in this short film.
Also in the vlog is the time-lapse of my newest painting Serendipity which I painted for Kerry and Ben to honour the memory of their dearly departed friend David.

Founded in the 4th century as one of the last of the Roman 'Saxon Shore' forts, Pevensey Castle was also the landing place of William the Conqueror's army in 1066. Later it was pressed back into service as an emergency stronghold in the Second World War — you can still see machine gun posts camouflaged into the castle walls.

Rape of Pevensey
The Rape of Pevensey is one of the rapes, the traditional sub-divisions unique to the historic county of Sussex in England.
History
William the Conqueror granted the rape of Pevensey to his half-brother Robert, Count of Mortain shortly after the Norman Conquest.
Location
Pevensey rape lies between the rape of Lewes to the west and the rape of Hastings to the east. The north-west of the rape is bounded by the county of Surrey and the north-east of the rape by the county of Kent. To the south lies the English Channel. The rape of Pevensey includes the towns of Crowborough, Eastbourne and East Grinstead. At 242 metres (794 ft) tall, Crowborough Beacon in the High Weald is the highest point in the rape.
