Unjustly imprisoned in the U.S. for nearly 15 years
The Cuban Five are Five Cuban revolutionaries who are unjustly imprisoned in the United States after being arrested by the FBI on Sept. 12, 1998 and convicted in U.S. courts in Miami in 2001, for defending the Cuban Revolution from violent attacks planned on U.S. soil.
They are Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero Fernando González and Rene González.*
The Five were framed up by the U.S. government of committing espionage conspiracy against the United States, and other related charges. They received draconian sentences from 15 years to two-life terms plus 15 years.
As the Cuban Five pointed out in their defense, they were on a mission in Miami, beginning in 1990, to monitor the actions of groups operating in southern Florida with a long record of carrying out bombings, assassinations and other attacks.
Support for their freedom is growing on every continent, and is especially important in the United States. Join the fight to free the Cuban 5!
