World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Venice, Italy Travel Guide http://bit.ly/18hNZuE Venice - Italy Attractions, Tourism, Vacation and Travel Guide Things to see in Venice Tourist information: Palazzetto Carmagnani -- San Marco 2637 30124 Venezia Opening hours: Daily 0900-1900. Other tourist offices are located at Marco Polo airport, Piazzale Roma, Santa Lucia train station, the Giardini, and on the Lido, at Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta. Passes: The Venice Card is available in 12-hour, 48-hour and week-long packages. It offers free public transport, entry to museums and galleries and discounts on selected parking, excursions and shops. The card is available from the airport, railway stations, tourist information offices and online. The Chorus Pass includes entry to 16 of Venice's churches, including the spectacular Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and the church of Santa Maria Formosa. The pass is valid for one year and is available for purchase online, at the tourist office and from participating churches. The Museum Pass allows entry to 10 civic museums, including the Doge's Palace. The ticket is valid for six months and allows a single admission to each museum. Basilica dei Frari (Church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari) The glorious gothic Church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, constructed around 1330, is primarily associated with the name of Titian, Venice's painter son who is buried here, alongside the city's celebrated sculptor, Antonio Canova. Titian made his reputation and crowned his early years by painting the huge altar piece, The Assumption of the Virgin, for the Franciscan brothers of the Frari in 1518. Titian also executed the painting over the Pesaro family altar in the north aisle. The inclusion of the flag and Turk in the painting alludes to Bishop Pesaro's victory over the Turks at Santa Maura. Titian's tomb, located in the south aisle, faces the large marble pyramid created for Canova, depicting St Mark's lion paying homage to the dead sculptor. Ironically, the design, executed by Canova's pupils, was based on Canova's own plans for a new monument to Titian. Opening Times: Mon-Sat 0900-1800, Sun 1300-1800. Admission Fees: Yes Disabled Access: Yes Unesco: Yes Address: San Polo 3072, Venice, Italy Basilica di San Marco (St Mark's Basilica) The golden Byzantine St Mark's Basilica was founded in the ninth century as a shrine for the relics of St Mark. Built on a plan of a Greek cross, its Eastern appearance is enhanced by golden mosaics, originally created by craftsmen from the Byzantine court at Ravenna. The interior houses many of Venice's greatest treasures, including the venerated icon of the Madonna Nicopeia. The golden screen behind the high altar - the crypt in which St Mark is supposed to be buried - is the Pala d'Oro, beautifully crafted with sapphires, emeralds and rubies and inset with enamels from Constantinople. Before leaving St Mark's, visitors should pause to admire the 12th-century pavement, a resplendent mosaic of glass and marble. It is possible to book online to avoid the long queues at www.venetoinside.com Opening Times: Mon-Sat 0945-1700, Sun 1400-1700 (Apr-Oct); Mon-Sat 0945-1700, Sun 1400-1600 (Nov-Mar). Admission Fees: Yes Disabled Access: Yes Unesco: Yes Address: Piazza San Marco, Venice, Italy Campanile di San Marco (Bell Tower) The bell tower, which is located to one side of St Mark's Square, is the tallest structure in Venice and offers a unique view of this fabulous city. At 318 ft (97m) high, visitors prepared to make the lengthy climb can look out over the rooftops of the city. In a strange twist, the view from the top can be good enough on a clear day to catch a glimpse of the distant dolomites, but doesn't allow for a view of any of the canals. The tower collapsed in 1902 and was rebuilt exactly as before. Opening Times: 0700-1545 (Nov-Apr) 0900-2100 (Jul-Sept). Elba, Tuscany, Italy Travel Guide and Tourism
World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Tuscany, Italy Travel Guide http://bit.ly/15G05Z6 Shepherd Entertainment takes you on a tour of Elba, a Mediterranean island in Tuscany and a part of the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago. Visit Elba in Tuscany Italy Tuscany's 300 kilometer long coast spreads from the [Foreign Language] and it has the same facilities as other known resorts in Eastern Italy. They're tiny islands along the coast like scattered coins at the bottom of the Trevi Fountain. Two of them sound very familiar. Kypria that is Goat Island was Garibaldi's refuge. The other is L'Isola di Montecristo after which Domaciro got his name. The biggest island is a 223 square kilometer Elba which brings the name Napoleon to mind, although the small island is worth visiting not only for this reason. The most western part of the sea Tire is only 50 kilometers away from the harbor of Bastia and Corsica. But by Corsica belongs to France, HElba belongs to Italy; moreover, to Tuscany. Since 1996, Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago has belonged to Tuscany. Elba has a population of 30,000 a part of which commutes to work to the mainland. Between Piombino and Portoferraio, the main port of the island, ferries run from 6 AM to 9 PM every day. On the island scrogs and pina woods alternate with vineyards and orchards, cruddy cliffs alternate with sandy beaches. The landscape is similar to Sardinia where people try to preserve the intact island like here. There are no skyscrapers and hotel complexes of concrete and glass along the long beaches, but there are vocative homey small hotels and guest houses. Nice views, clean air and quiet. Although Elba was inhabited in the middle ages, or even before, there aren't any -. In other words, ground monolithic stone building which we can find in Sardinia. Tiny ancient villages are tucked away in the craggy slopes. Only the Portoferraio is a more sizeable settlement. Tourist boats and ferries arrived at its harbor. It's easy for anybody who's been to Corsica or Sardinia to imagine the atmosphere of the capital of Elba. Let's see what's been written on the internet by a traveler who regularly visits the island. Portoferraio conquers the traveler with the directness of the sea. You wouldn't need anything else to relax the water and the view of the sea make you forget about your fatigue. World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Venice, Italy Travel Guide http://bit.ly/18hNZuE Public transport in Venice The best ways to get around Venice are on foot or by water buses (vaporetti) which are operated by the local authority Azienda Consorziale Transporti Venezia (tel: (041) 2424; www.actv.it). The vaporetti have set routes around Venice so your journey is dictated by their routes and sailing times. There are four bridges across the Grand Canal: the oldest and most famous, Ponte di Rialto; Ponte dell'Accademia; Ponte degli Scalzi and the newest addition, opened in 2008, is Ponte della Costituzione which connects the Santa Lucia train station with the bus station at Piazzale Roma. An alternative way to cross the Grand Canal is by traghetto (a public gondola). Crossings are cheap and short and there are numerous traghetto points along the canal. Gondolas are a traditional form of transport, although they are usually reserved for sightseeing purposes and are expensive. They can be hired at one of the stands located in Rialto, Piazzale Roma, and San Marco, as well as one of the occasional 'unofficial' stops dotted along the smaller canals. ================= Venice - Italy Attractions, Tourism, Vacation and Travel Guide Things to see in Venice Tourist information: Palazzetto Carmagnani -- San Marco 2637 30124 Venezia Opening hours: Daily 0900-1900.
