Vice on Greenland Ice Sheet Collapse Must Watch!
Vice on Greenland Ice Sheet Collapse Must Watch!
Here is the most important video of the year. Please watch and share with everyone. And watch it again. Show it to people around you, even all of your relatives. Show it at your religious group gatherings, to senior groups, unions, and youth groups. Show it at parties. Show it to whoever is around you whatever you do with your life. We're almost out of time to get up to speed on this as a nation. This video emphasizes precisely why it's so important to support my Congressional campaign. It is the only one of its kind in the world. Hopefully that just means it's the first. After 30 years, the IPCC has finally caught up with me on the urgency and gravity of the polar ice collapse crisis and the greater than official worst case scenario rapidity of climate destabilization. They're even now calling for an 80% reduction in greenhouse gasses or we will face, using the words I've been using, "climate catastrophe." I'm not exaggerating or kidding at all. Neither is anyone in this video. Thanks to Bill Maher for this. My campaign is the only grassroots political activism taking it head on and promoting it widely. If you care about doing something about this. It's the campaign to contribute to. It's so odd to me that anyone this late in the game still would not automatically and passionately dive into this issue as focused activist with the vigor and intensity we would if a pedophile moved in next door. Everything depends on our dealing with it in time! Everything! Everything else is BS by comparison. The Titanic, Pompeii, Easter Island, Chaco Canyon, NYC, southern Florida, Venice, Shanghai, your block, you got it... Look at what you've been doing with your time today and think about it. Please. http://caffreyforcongress.org/donate And where are all the old time Earth First!ers now that we need them?- published: 27 Mar 2014

Greenland Ice Sheet Changing
Greenland Ice Sheet Changing
NASA obsevations show the dynamism of Greenland's Ice sheet in the changing elevation of its surfaces. Recent analysis of seven years of readings from NASA's ICESat satellite and four years of laser and and ice-penetrating radar data from NASA's airborne mission Operation IceBridge shows the changes taking place. In the animation featured here, the colors shown on the surface of the ice sheet represent the accumulated change in elevation since 2003. The light yellow over the central region of the ice sheet indicates a slight thickening due to snow. This accumulation, along with the weight of the ice sheet, pushes ice toward the coast. Thinning near coastal regions, shown in green, blue and purple, has increased over time and now extends into the interior of the ice sheet where the bedrock topography permits. As a result, there has been an average loss of 300 cubic kilometers of ice per year between 2003 and 2012. This animation portrays the changes occurring in the surface elevation of the ice sheet since 2003 in three drainage regions: the southeast, the northeast and the Jakobshavn regions. In each region, the time advances to show the accumulated change in elevation from 2003 through 2012.- published: 27 Mar 2014

In Greenland, Melting Ice Caps May Actually Be a Good Thing
Greenland Goes Green (2007): How the melting of Arctic ice is spurring an agricultural resurgence in Greenland (but reindeer herding is now more complicated than before the melt) For downloads and more information visit http://journeyman.tv/57542/short-films/greenland-goes-green.html Greenland's ice caps are melting faster than predicted -- and local farmers couldn't be happier. Thanks to rising temperatures, they can now grow new crops and raise cattle. "I really like my cattle. They've very gentle", boasts farmer Sofus Frederiksen. For the first time since the Vikings, farmers can now raise cattle. Warmer seas are bringing huge catches of cod and growing seasons are up to a month longer. "A little bit of extra warmth is good for us", states agricultural consultant Kenneth Hoegh. "We're growing things we would have hesitated to grow in the past". But not all farmers are happy. With so little snow, Stefan Magnusson finds it hard to herd his reindeer. Previously, he used a snowmobile but now he has to do it by helicopter.
