Description The Business Council of Mongolia (BCM) was established in 2007. Since then, it has developed to become one of the leading organizations representing business stakeholders in the country. The objectives of BCM are to promote trade and investment growth in Mongolia and to provide a bridge between the Government of Mongolia, the public and members of the Council to exchange opinions, to organize open discussions about key events and issues in the business environment, to work for updating laws, policies and activities that hamper economic growth and to represent the investors in Mongolian economy who have common ideology with us. Mongolia is a rapidly emerging country with a market economy and vast opportunities in sectors such as exploration & mining, agriculture and tourism. Our organizing Board of Directors represented a cross-section of the business and economic mainstays of our economy. The organizing Board has been named as BCM's Executive Committee as the Board has expanded to a total of 19 current directors. A total of 200+ people are working voluntarily in 6 working groups. These professionals include top officials of BCM members with a wide range of experience. They raise issues in a variety of sectors and make recommendations to reform laws, policies and patterns that hinder economic growth. BCM endeavors to advocate for final recommendations, as appropriate, with Government, ministry and agency officials. The ongoing economic, cultural and social development of Mongolia offers a wide range of business opportunities for businesses. Through active participation in the BCM activities, businesses can gain information and network to build relationships that will assist in capitalizing on these opportunities. BCM has special relationships with the Mongolian National Mining Association (MNMA), the National Development and Innovation Committee (NDIC), GIZ and the Consultative Council on Investment Climate and Private Sector Development (CCIC-PSD). In 2009, upon initiation by Oyu Tolgoi LLC, BCM was contracted to build an integrated network of Mongolian mining suppliers. Some 1,300 entities, more than 90% Mongolian-owned, have been registered on a bi-lingual database, which provides free promotion of the business offerings of these Mongolian suppliers and entrepreneurs for the mining sector. The mining sector comprises more than 30% of the BCM membership. At BCM's monthly meetings of members the MNMA presents news and latest information of the mining sector. BCM works very closely with various Embassies, NGO's, special interest groups and associations and the Government of Mongolia. We always welcome suggestions and contributions from all of our members to support the ongoing development of the BCM.
