Adam Goodes (born 8 January 1980 in Wallaroo, South Australia) is a professional Australian rules football player with the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Goodes holds an elite place in AFL/VFL history as a dual Brownlow Medallist, premiership player, four-time All-Australian and member of the Indigenous Team of the Century and has represented Australia in the International Rules Series.

Goodes is well known for his Indigenous Australian heritage, and is prominently involved and associated with several Indigenous sport and community programs.

He was born in Wallaroo, to Lisa May (a Narungga child with Adnyamathanha ancestry) and Graham Goodes, with siblings Jake and Brett. His parents were separated when he was four and his father moved to Queensland while Goodes moved between Wallaroo and Adelaide (in South Australia) and Merbein (in Victoria) with his mother. While at Merbein, Adam attended primary school at Merbein West Primary School in 1986, and it was there that he began to play Australian Rules football. Goodes moved with his family to Horsham, Victoria where he played football at high school and represented Victoria at under 16 and under 18 levels. He began playing with the North Ballarat Rebels as a 16 year old in the Victorian Football League and played in a winning premiership side where he was scouted by the Sydney Swans.

Adam (Hebrew: אָדָם‎, Arabic: آدم‎, Syriac: ܐܵܕ݂ܵܡ) is a figure in the Book of Genesis, the Qur'an and the Kitáb-i-Íqán. According to the creation myth of Abrahamic religions, he is the first human. In the Genesis creation narratives, he was created by Yahweh-Elohim ("Yahweh-God", the god of Israel), though the term "adam" can refer to both the first individual person, as well as to the general creation of humankind. Christian churches differ on how they view Adam's subsequent behavior (often called the Fall of man), and to the consequences that those actions had on the rest of humanity. Christian and Jewish teachings sometimes hold Adam and Eve (the first woman) to a different level of responsibility for the Fall, though Islamic teaching holds both equally responsible. In addition, Islam holds that Adam was eventually forgiven, while Christianity holds that redemption occurred only later through the sacrifice of God's son, Jesus Christ. Bahá'í Faith, Islam and some Christian denominations consider Adam to be the first Prophet.

Since 1960 the Australian of the Year Award has been part of the celebrations surrounding Australia Day (26 January), during which time the award has grown steadily in significance to become Australia’s pre-eminent award. The Australian of the Year announcement has become a very prominent part of the annual Australia Day celebrations. There has to be something more, some sense of distinction that lifts a candidate out of the ruck of the famous."

Andrew Bolt (born 26 September 1959 in Adelaide, South Australia) is an Australian journalist,newspaper columnist, radio commentator, blogger and television host. Bolt is a columnist and associate editor of the Melbourne-based Herald Sun. He has appeared on the Nine Network, Melbourne Talk Radio, ABC Television, Network Ten and local radio. In 2005, Bolt released a compilation of newspaper columns in a book titled The Best of Andrew Bolt—Still Not Sorry. From 2011, he has hosted The Bolt Report on Network Ten.

Bolt is a self-described "conservative" but rejects the label "right-wing".

Born to newly-arrived Dutch migrants, Bolt spent his childhood in remote rural areas such as Tarcoola, South Australia, while his father worked as a schoolteacher and principal. After completing secondary school, Bolt travelled and worked overseas before returning to Australia and starting an Arts degree at the University of Adelaide. After "one of the worst years of [his] life" he left university to take up a cadetship at The Age, a Melbourne broadsheet newspaper. He worked for The Age in various roles, including as a sports writer, prior to joining The Herald, which in 1990 merged with The Sun News-Pictorial to form the Herald Sun. His time as a reporter included a stint as the newspaper's Asia correspondent, based first in Hong Kong and later in Bangkok.

John Longmire (born 31 December 1970) is the current coach of the Sydney Swans. As a player, he represented the North Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 1988 to 1999.

Longmire began his playing career at the Corowa-Rutherglen club in New South Wales, where he won the Ovens & Murray Football League's leading goalkicker title. His ability and size quickly attracted the interest of the North Melbourne VFL club's talent scouts.

John Longmire was built for playing full-forward. His powerful physique and size earned him the nickname Horse. At North Melbourne, he formed a powerful goalkicking partnership with centre half forward Wayne Carey. In six seasons between 1990 to 1995 Carey and Longmire collectively kicked 768 goals (of which Longmire contributed 464) and 13 times they combined for 10 goals or more in a game. Individually, Longmire kicked 5-plus goals in a game 36 times, 7-plus goals 18 times and 10-plus twice, before a serious knee injury force him out of the game for the 1996 season. When he returned the following year, he played out the rest of his career in defense and in the ruck.
