MSP CALLS FOR ACTION OVER LANARK LOCH FACILITIES

The SNP MSP for Clydesdale has called for South Lanarkshire Council to bring back toilet facilities to Lanark Loch as the summer season approaches.

After meeting with Sylvia Russell from the Lanark Community Development Trust at the former site of toilet facilities at the park, Aileen Campbell MSP has said that action is needed to reinstate facilities to make Lanark Loch a more tourist friendly destination.

Commenting after her meeting, Aileen Campbell MSP said:

“I was pleased to meet with Sylvia Russell from the Lanark Community Development Trust to get an update on the Trust’s work, but to also learn about the community’s frustrations regarding the lack of toilet facility at the park.  The park is a fantastic space for families and the community to enjoy and I love taking my wee boy to the park.  The growth in popularity of this park is testament to the hard work of the Lanark Playpark Action Group and it is great to see so many people visiting the town to make use of the walkways and play equipment.

But it is not fair that there continues to be no toilet facilities – especially as we head into the spring, brighter weather, and more people potentially starting to use the park again.  We need to see action on this situation so that this very basic provision is restored.  I will be contacting the council to find a positive conclusion to what has become a very sorry saga and to see toilets at the park as soon as possible.”

MSP Comments on Beechgrove Garden Visit

Commenting on the visit of the Beechgrove Garden project to the Lanark Community Development Trust, regarding their plans to renovate Castlebank Park, Aileen Campbell MSP said:

“I’m delighted that the Beechgrove Garden project visited Lanark to meet with the Trust and volunteers. If the bid is successful, this would provide an enormous boost to the town and raise the profile of the important work the Trust is doing to make Lanark an even better place to live. I was delighted to meet with Sylvia Russell to discuss the Lanark Community Development Trust’s upcoming and exciting projects.

“The success of the Trust in their efforts to renovate Castlebank Park, and their future plans are testament to the hard work and passion the Trust members have for Lanark and Clydesdale.

“To support the Trust’s bid, I have written to the Beechgrove Garden and have offered to provide assistance throughout.  This project will leave a lasting legacy for the town and I wholeheartedly support it.”
