Me. Helen Zille se artikel in Beeld oor "rasstellende aksie", soos dit deesdae in die volksmond bekendstaan, toon aan hoe die DA se môre- en aandpraatjies nie ooreenkom nie. Is die DA nie die party wat vir sogenaamde "breedgebaseerde swart ekonomiese bemagtiging" in die parlement gestem het nie?

Die regulasies van minister Mildred Oliphant verteenwoordig bloot die logiese uitvloeisel van die anti-wit arbeidsbeleid wat die DA ondersteun.

The 2014 Olympics might feel more like 1914

Journalists attending the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia will be forbidden from using everyday technology to take pictures and share information - the mobile phones and tablets that have woven themselves into the fabric of daily life, the Olympics committee said.

"Journalists using mobile phones to film athletes or spectators will be considered a serious violation and will result in cancellation of accreditation," Vasily Konov, head of the state-run R-Sport news agency, which controls accreditation at February's games, told a seminar for sports journalists.

That means no iPhone pictures, no Vine videos, no Instagram accounts sharing the minute-by-minute details of the events, no Twitter accounts with updates and so on.

According to Russian news site Svoboda, the ban will including all mobile devices and tablets, including iPhones and iPads. Fans may be banned from carrying in professional camera gear as well.

Ex-terrorist McBride appointed as head of Independent Police Investigations

Cabinet has recommended that former Ekurhuleni metro police chief Robert McBride be appointed head of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid).

"We believe Mr McBride's appointment as head of Ipid will help this important institution to achieve [its]… mandate," Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said in a statement on Tuesday.

Mthethwa said Cabinet decided to recommend McBride as Ipid executive director at a meeting on Wednesday.

"Mr McBride was the successful candidate following the shortlisting, interviewing processes, as well as Cabinet's endorsement," he said.

"However, in line with the Ipid Act, the appointment can only be finalised once Parliament has concurred."

He said Ipid had been headed by an acting executive director for almost a year and the stability of such an important institution was crucial.

McBride, a former MP and government official, won an appeal in March

Heidelberg Volkskool was one of the first schools started after the Anglo-Boer war when Afrikaners were humiliated by the British occupier into accepting English as the only medium of instruction in schools. That was after 30 000 women and children had perished in the British concentration camps, with support from the "armed blacks" who were assisting them in committing their atrocities on the Boer civilian population, in flagrant contravention of the Hague Convention of the time.
