David Barry may refer to:
David (/ˈdeɪvɪd/; Hebrew: דָּוִד, Modern David, Tiberian Dāwîḏ;ISO 259-3 Dawid; Arabic: داوُد Dāwūd; Syriac: ܕܘܝܕ Dawid; Ancient Greek: Δαυίδ; Latin: Davidus, David; Strong's: Daveed) was, according to the Books of Samuel, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, and according to the New Testament, an ancestor of Jesus. His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.
The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.
David McAlister "Dave" Barry (born July 3, 1947) is a Pulitzer Prize winning American author and columnist, who wrote a nationally syndicated humor column for The Miami Herald from 1983 to 2005. He has also written numerous books of humor and parody, as well as comedic novels.
Barry was born in Armonk, New York, where his father, David, was a Presbyterian minister. He was educated at Wampus Elementary School, Harold C. Crittenden Junior High School (both in Armonk), and Pleasantville High School where he was elected "Class Clown" in 1965. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Haverford College in 1969.
As an alumnus of a Quaker-affiliated college, he avoided military service during the Vietnam War by registering as a religious conscientious objector. Notwithstanding his father's vocation, Dave decided "early on" that he was an atheist. He said, "The problem with writing about religion is that you run the risk of offending sincerely religious people, and then they come after you with machetes."
Barry may refer to:
Radio control (often abbreviated to R/C or simply RC) is the use of radio signals to remotely control a device. Radio control is used for control of model vehicles from a hand-held radio transmitter. Industrial, military, and scientific research organizations make use of radio-controlled vehicles as well.
In 1898, at an exhibition at Madison Square Garden, Nikola Tesla demonstrated a small unmanned boat that was radio controlled. In a bit of showmanship, Tesla entertained the audience to make it seem that the boat could apparently obey commands from the audience but it, was in fact, controlled by Tesla interpreting the verbal requests and sending appropriate frequencies to tuned circuits in the boat. John Hays Hammond Jr is regarded as the father of radio control due to experiments as an apprentice of Thomas Edison at the age of twelve. Hammond was a close friend of Tesla and they performed experiments together in his lab located in his castle. He learned a great deal from his exposure to Tesla. Tesla was granted a US patent on this invention on July 1, 1898. In 1903, the Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres y Quevedo presented the "Telekino" at the Paris Academy of Science, and was granted a patent in France, Spain, Great Britain and the United States. In 1904, Bat, a Windermere steam launch, was controlled using experimental radio control by its inventor, Jack Kitchen.

David Barry talks to The Book Show about his books!
Well-known for his former internationally syndicated column, Dave Barry discusses (read: "pokes merciless fun at") various major issues, including the international economy, the future of democracy, society and exploding bathroom fixtures. Barry has won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary -- and immediately demanded a recount. A prolific writer, Barry has written more than 30 books, including the novels Big Trouble, Lunatics, Tricky Business and, most recently, Insane City. He has also written a number of books with titles like I'll Mature When I'm Dead, which are technically classified as nonfiction, although according to Barry they contain numerous lies. Two of Barry's books were the basis for the CBS sitcom Dave's World, which Barry says can probably still be seen on cable TV in certain u...

Dave Barry, Pulitzer Prize-winning humor columnist and author of more than 30 books, is no stranger to critics trying to censor his writing. The nationally syndicated humorist has written some of our nations funniest columns—and with the First Amendment on his side, hes been winning the battle for free speech for over 25 years. This new video from FIRE features Barry discussing why freedom of expression is important to him and how todays politically correct college campuses are creating a culture of censorship that stifles humor writing and the opinions of millions of students across the country.
New York Times-bestselling author and Pulitzer Prize-winning humorist Dave Barry should be a happy man. He has all the elements of a good life: a loving family, a nice home, a dog that doesn’t pee indoors without a good reason, a full head of hair and several original teeth. And if all that isn’t enough, he’s had a long and rewarding career that consists of being able to write pretty much any random thing he wants. For example: “You can put suspenders on a salamander, but it still won’t make waffles.” That sentence makes absolutely no sense, but he got paid to write it. Yet the harsh truth is that happiness is an elusive thing, and fortunately Dave tells how to capture it—or not—in LIVE RIGHT AND FIND HAPPINESS (ALTHOUGH BEER IS MUCH FASTER): Life Lessons and Other Ravings from Dave B...

-update- my hunches were correct - it was SUPER obvious on this but it has come to light that Dave Hester is suing the show for millions for mis-representation - AMAZING!! I Love it when this drama comes to a head - televised!! --here today on a TV talk show, hosted by that guy from C N EN / Sandy Hook Debacle , was the cast and actors from Storage Wars. Yes Barry is an actor, but he's the only one (I should clarify - the only actor on Storage wars- the actor 'plant' - they all have to ACT but this is the nature of Television and its smoke n mirrahs. . I do think no one really won anything on this show (no evidience just personal views - I think the contestants just representing possible charities (free televised plug for a charity) are all actors too.
