Edwin Valero

Edwin Valero (December 3, 1981 – April 19, 2010) was a Venezuelan professional boxer. He was an undefeated two-weight world champion who held the WBA super featherweight and WBC lightweight titles. A southpaw known for his highly aggressive style and exceptional punching power, Valero remains the only champion in the 30-year history of the WBC to have won every fight in his career by knockout. In 2010, Valero committed suicide in jail after being arrested on suspicion of killing his wife.

Boxing career

Valero started boxing at the age of 12, arguably compiling an amateur record of 86-6 with 57 knockouts. He was a Venezuelan amateur champion three years running, as well as Central and South American Champion (beating Francisco "Panchito" Bojado). With his chiseled good looks,long hair and trimmed Physique Valero not only had the knockout punching power and technical skills.But also the appearance of a future potential superstar.Valero was known for being a hard worker,a nice guy with a sometimes erratic as his promoter put it personality.He was known to be quiet sometimes but very enthusiastic other times.He was not normalBob Arum once said.Valero had told one some of his former trainers that when he was younger he was part of motorcycle gang.In which armed robberies were carried out. It was around the time of 2006 Edwin and another professional boxer named Ponce De Leon got into a fight after having a few drinks outside a bar in Mexico.The fight ended up on the floor and after a minute or two of wrestling De Leon bit a bit of Valeros ear off.After this Valero grew his hair longer.

The name Edwin means "rich friend". It comes from the Old English elements "ead" (rich, blessed) and "wine" (friend). The original Anglo-Saxon form is Eadwine, which is also found for Anglo-Saxon figures.

Vicente Mosquera

Vicente Eduardo Mosquera Mena (born December 9, 1979 in Panama City, Panama) is a Panamanian professional boxer. He is a former World Boxing Association (WBA) super-featherweight champion.

On April 30, 2005 he defeated Yodsanan Sor Nanthachai (Yodsanan 3-K Battery) for the WBA world championship title, by a unanimous decision. The official scorers saw it 118-108, 116-111, 115-112. In the fight, Nanthachai was knocked down three times (in the first, third, and eleventh rounds). Mosquera also was knocked down in the third round.

On August 5, 2006, Mosquera lost his belt to Edwin Valero by TKO in the 10th round. Several days after the Valero fight, Mosquera was involved in an unclear altercation that resulted in the death of a person. He is currently serving a prison sentence.
