Sets, Brasile vs Italia (1-3) - Uomo Pallavolo World League 23.5.2014
Goditela nostra pagina: http://www.facebook.com/LeandroSportsVideos First World League victory for Belgium as Italy beat Brazil. Lausanne, Switzerland, May 23, 2014 -- Belgium marked their debut in the FIVB Volleyball World League with a four-set victory over Australa on Friday whilst Italy saw off world No.1 Brazil as the 2014 edition of the tournament began. Meanwhile, USA stunned hosts Bulgaria as they fought back from two sets down to record a 3-2 (19-25, 22-25, 27-25, 25-19, 15-12) win in Pool B and Germany denied Japan as they picked up a 3-0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-16) victory. Australia, returning to the World League for the first time in 15 years, began well in their match against newcomers Belgium. But the hosts held on to claim an historic straight sets (30-28, 25-19, 25-21) triumph in front of their home fans in Kortijk. Italy stormed to an early two-set lead against last year's silver medallists Brazil before dropping the third. But the visiting Italians spoilt the Brazilian party in Santa Catarina by clinching the fourth and with it the victory. But coach Mauro Berruto was quick to point out that his team need to improve quickly if they are to make an impact in this year's competition. "Both teams are not in their best shape," Berruto said. "I think that Brazil and Italy will improve a lot in the next few matches. However, I am happy with the way that we played in the first and second sets." Bulgaria almost caught USA off-guard in their Pool B encounter as they took a 2-0 lead to the delight of the 5,000-strong crown in Varna. However Matthew Anderson and Taylor Sander rallied their team and dragged them back into the game to eventually scrap the win. USA coach John Speraw admitted that luck played a small part in his side's victory, but still felt they were the better team in the final two sets. "We were a little bit lucky winning the third set but then we proved our victory in the end." Finally Germany overcame a shaky first set to beat Japan in straight sets in Bamberg. "The victory is good for our confidence," said German captain Jochen Schöps. "It was important to win the first game."- published: 23 May 2014

New Zealand vs Netherlands - Men's Hero Hockey World League Final India Final [18/1/2014]
"The Netherlands won the first ever Hockey World League after cruising to a 7-2 victory in the final of the Hero Hockey World League Final. A cagey first 10 minutes saw both teams testing their opposition, but providing very few real scoring opportunities. It was the Netherlands who broke the deadlock when Constantijn Jonkers (17') hit the ball from a seemingly impossible angle past an outstretched Devon Manchester in the Black Sticks goal. The Netherlands turned up the pressure in the last 15 minutes of the first half, winning two penalty corners and keeping the Black Sticks pinned in their half of the pitch. A second goal was added by Billy Bakker (23') as the men in black struggled to cope with the ferocity of the Netherlands attack. The Netherlands third goal came on the stroke of half time when a ball fired in from the midfield found Jonkers (35') who deflected the ball past Manchester. The second half got off to a scintillating start as first the Netherlands through Bob de Voogd (36') put the Netherlands 4-0 up and then Steve Edwards (37') of the Black Sticks made the score 4-1.The game continued to be very open, with both teams seeking long passes to penetrate the defence, but again it was the Netherlands who made pressure tell, Rogier Hofman (45') scoring Oranje hockey's fifth goal and putting the game all but out of the Black Sticks reach. Edwards (52') scored his second for the Black Sticks but then Bakker (59') added his second, again a field goal that bounced around the circle before the tall Dutchman fired it home. Minutes later Jonker (61') got his hat-trick after running onto a ball fired into the circle and tipping it home. USA captain Sean Rooney said: "Our team is very happy with this weekend's results. "We know we will have two more difficult games coming up against Bulgaria. We are just really happy at the moment." John Speraw, USA coach added: "They were two very difficult matches in a challenging environment and it was good for us to have this second consecutive win. We didn't do much training together and we hope we can improve, too. We have two more hard battles with Bulgaria to come." Camillo Placi, coach of Bulgaria, said: "USA played better in attack and serve than us. I knew the second match would be harder than the first. The key moment of this match was obviously the third set that we could have won. But it didn't happen, unfortunately. Now we know about our weaknesses and we have now two weeks to correct them." Todor Aleksiev, captain of Bulgaria added: "Congratulations to USA. It was a heavy match and we were not prepared, but now we will have time to work on our weaknesses ."- published: 24 May 2014

Sets, Bulgaria vs USA (2-3) - Volleyball Men's World League 5.23.2014
Enjoy our page: http://www.facebook.com/LeandroSportsVideos USA stage superb comeback to shock Bulgaria. Varna, Bulgaria, May 23, 2014 -- USA defeated Bulgaria 2-3 (25-19, 25-22, 25-27, 19-25, 12-15) after staging a dramatic comeback in front of a passionate Bulgarian crowd at the Palace of Culture and Sports on Friday night. 5,000 spectators witnessed the game, and it seemed like an easy home win after Bulgaria stormed into a two-set lead. They won the first set 25-19, catching the USA a little cold, and followed that up with a dominant second set performance, 25-22. Key attacker Tsvetan Sokolov was on particularly fine form. Todor Skrimov proved his great shape and started with strong serve to fluctuate the Americans since the very beginning. His teammates continued with determent serve and not giving much of a chance for their guests. Firm and concentrated, Bulgaria lead by Skrimov and Sokolov was the master of the attack, spiking hard and strong. Hosts had everything on their side - powerful attack, good defense, smooth block. On the other side of the court - the USA hesitated and were looking for the right way to play. Second set was the story continuing for Bulgaria. Nikolay Nikolov and Todor Alexiev added their tribute to Sokolov and Skrimov's to lead host team easily via the second set. John Speraw's boys were not in the match that concentrated and it seemed that it is going to be an easy win for their opponents. Andreson and the "trump" Sander kept scoring though keeping the distance 2-3 points all the time. American team stressed their play after two sets in behind and took the lead in the third. Victor Yosifov was the changer of the third set, scoring two decisive points for Bulgaria when they were exactly that much behind their rivals at the 17th point. At the end it seemed that it is decided for Bulgaria to win easy 3:0. John Speraw's boys never gave up and at the end of the set they managed to save two match balls in-a-row to stay on top and after being down 23:24 and 24:25 the third was closed in their favor. Forth set started with several point-by-point rallies but Americans were already ahead, mostly in psychological aspect. Bulgaria's condition went down and at 9-12 with some great defense the US went ahead. Following plays obviously lead Camillo Placi to think of the tie-break putting Penchev and Bratoev in instead of tired captain Aleksiev and Skrimov. His team tried to solve the situation with strong serve but were stopped by their own unforced errors. Taylor Sander and Matthew Anderson did the rest to close this set in USA favor too - 2:2. Physical condition probably was the decisive moment in the last set. Bulgaria feeling unsecure and tired on side of the court, Anderson and Sander - scoring more and more for the United States. Even putting back on court Aleksiev did not help much Bulgaria and the match was closed by the United States 12:15. Sokolov was the match's top scorer with 25 points; Anderson was narrowly behind him with 24. The two sides meet again in the same venue on Saturday evening.- published: 23 May 2014

Netherlands vs Australia - Women's Hockey World League Final Argentina Final [08/12/2013]
Day 6 and it's the Final of the Argentina Hockey World League Finals where we see Netherlands take on Australia for the Goal Medal Match. The First Half saw Australia take the lead in the game when Anna Flanagan dragflick met the back of the net giving the Hockeyroos a 0-1 lead. During the game the Netherlands looked strong but Australia showed they were up for the challenge. The Second Half saw The Netherlands came out strong and showed there intent in not giving up in this final gaining two goals in quick succession. The first came from a Penalty Corner and saw the Captain Maartje Paumen strong dragflick go across the fall and into the net bringing The Dutch back In the game. However this did not last long when Kitty Van Male's pass was met by Rosalin Drost who made her way into the D and her hit went through the keeper, putting the The Netherlands 2-1 up and leading the game. However just when you thought Australia had a chance in getting back into the game, The Netherlands struck back and extended their lead when Kitty Van Male received the ball in the D from a Lidewij Welten pass and Van Male's shot was deflected off the unbalanced Rachael Lynch (GK) seeing The Netherlands go 3-1 up. The Netherlands were on course to winning the game but made sure they would took all their chances, when Maartje Paumen hit the target again for the second time from another dragflick from a Penalty Corner, which put them 4-1 and giving Australia a big mountain to climb. However it was all game over for Australia when Lidewij Welten probably produced the Goal of the tournament when she picked the ball from the halfway line, showing excellent persistence and control and unleashed a fierce shot that deflected off Rachel Lynch (GK) again but all but sealed it for The Netherlands, who were far too strong on the night, crowing themselves the Champions of the World Hockey League. Germany vs India - Men's Hero Hockey World League Final India 5th/8th Place [17/1/2014]
"India secured their spot in Saturday's 5th place playoff match after defeating Germany 5-4 in the 5-8 classification game. Rupinder Singh scored from a penalty corner securing India's win in the last minute of the match. The Olympic champions, who had lost their quarter final 3-2 to the Netherlands, opened the scoring thanks to team-captain Oliver Korn (4') picking up a rebound in the Indian circle and hammering it into the goal. Thilo Stralkowski (6') doubled the German lead a couple of minutes later when scoring from a penalty corner. His fourth goal in this competition made the 26-year-old new top scorer for his team. Mandeep Singh (18') made the home crowd cheer when finishing a promising Indian counter-attack by a successful shot from the top of the circle. However, Benjamin Wess (27') added another one for Germany, securing a 3-1 lead at halftime. "Getting structure is the key to development in this side. We need to find a way to combine Indian style and flair with technical structure" said Roelant Oltmans, India's director of performance, at halftime. India got the better start in the second half and shocked the European champions with a double-strike from Rupinder Singh (39') and Mandeep Singh (41') to level the score to 3-3. The host nation came close to taking the lead when a deflected ball hit the German goal post. Mandeep Singh (53') added his third goal of the day when putting India ahead 4-3. This goal seemed to be a wake-up call for Germany who equalised through a penalty corner goal from Martin Häner (55'). "England are Bronze medal winners in the inaugural Hockey World League thanks to their 2-1 win over Australia. The first half was a very intensive one with both teams having an equal share of the attacking play. England were first to score when Tom Carson (13') converted their first chance from close range. But the Kookaburras fought back immediately thanks to a Glenn Turner (16') strike. Afterwards the world champions put a lot of pressure on the English defence but goalkeeper George Pinner pulled off some tremendous saves, keeping the Aussies out. At halftime, the match was tight at 1-1. The second half saw Australia winning two early penalty corners but they could not capitalize on them. Shortly afterwards England's Alistair Brogdon missed the opportunity to take the lead when he won possession after a long pass, cruised around the Aussie goalkeeper Tyler Lovell, shot from wide angle but eventually hit the post. Adam Dixon was also close to scoring when his backhand stroke missed the goal by centimetres. However, it was team-captain Barry Middleton (54') deflecting a great pass by Ashley Jackson into the goal making it 2-1. Australia peppered the England goal through series of penalty corners but their usual threat from the top of the circle seemed to be dampened by stalwart defending. Their last chance to equalise was from a penalty corner awarded in the last minute. Glenn Turner's shot found its way into the goal but umpire Roel van Eert called the video umpire to check. The video umpire's decision was no goal and England won 2-1 ENGLAND 1 PINNER George (GK), 4 WILLARS Oliver, 6 WEIR Henry, 7 JACKSON Ashley, 8 MANTELL Simon, 9 MARTIN Harry, 11 BROGDAN Alastair, 12 HOARE Michael, 14 GLEGHORNE Mark, 16 DIXON Adam, 18 MIDDLETON Barry (C), 19 SMITH Patrick (GK), 21 WHITEMAN Tim, 22 CONDON David, 23 CARSON Tom, 24 LEWERS Iain, 26 CATLIN Nick and 27 FOX Dan.
