Before Richard Williams directed the animation for Who Framed Roger Rabbit, there was an earlier attempt at Disney, from 1981 to 1983, to adapt Gary K. Wolf’s book “Who Censored Roger Rabbit.”
John Culhane takes us behind the scenes of the unmade Darrell Van Citters version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, 1983. With animator Mike Giamo and producer Marc Sturdivant.
Disney 1981-1983. Animators: Chris Buck, Randy Cartwright. Character design and concepts: Mike Giamo, Mike Gabriel. Paul Reubens, known as Pee Wee Herman, plays Roger Rabbit. Peter Renaday and Mike Gabriel as Eddie Valiant. Russi Taylor as Jessica. Jack Angel as Captain Cleaver. Screenwriters Peter Seaman and Jeffrey Price. Producer Mark Sturdivant.
While Roger was a villain in the book, trying to solve his own murder, this Roger is a loveable goofball in white fur and red overalls - a prototype for the final film. Baby Herman is glimpsed only briefly, and Jessica Rabbit appears to be the villain of the piece. Still, this version clearly laid some groundwork for the Zemeckis/Williams production a few years later.
The prototype Roger Rabbit appears cheering in the stands in the featurette “Sport Goofy in Soccermania.”

The following is a list of characters who appeared in the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit and its related works.
Eddie Valiant
Eddie Valiant is a Californian private investigator in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
In the original novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit?, Eddie Valiant is a fictional modern day California private detective hired by comic book star Roger Rabbit to investigate the workings of Roger's corrupt employers, the DeGreasy Brothers. When Roger is found dead, and his final words having been censored out, Valiant is soon sent on the case of tracking Roger's murderers. This original incarnation of Eddie is a heavy smoker and has a beard.
The 1988 film gave more insight into the character of Eddie Valiant, who was played by Bob Hoskins. Eddie Valiant and his brother Theodore "Teddy" Valiant were sons of a circus clown (shown by the pictures on their desk), who joined the police force and eventually started their own private investigation service, Valiant and Valiant, in 1934, working largely on Toon cases, such as the kidnapping of Donald Duck's nephews in 1937 or clearing Goofy of accusations of espionage in 1940, both seen as newspaper clippings in Valiant's office. However, when Teddy was killed by the then-unknown toon form of Judge Doom who dropped a piano on him and Eddie in 1942, Eddie turned to the bottle, disappeared from the public eye, and refuses to take any more Toon cases (although he is slow to find work as a regular private eye). He also doesn't smoke, but is an alcoholic.

"We Can" is the twenty-fourth single by American country pop singer LeAnn Rimes, released on October 28, 2003 by Curb Records from the Legally Blonde 2: Motion Picture Soundtrack and was included on Rimes' Greatest Hits album.
The song charted on only two charts in the US peaking at number seventeen on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Charts and at number nineteen on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. Internationally, the song peaked at number twenty-seven in the UK, forty in New Zealand, ninety-four in the Netherlands and thirty-seven in Ireland.
Two music videos were released for the song. One video features clips taken from the film and is included on the DVD of the film, while the other features actors and was included on the limited edition DVD that original came with Rimes' Greatest Hits album.
Background
"We Can" and a remix of the song was first released on the Legally Blonde 2: Motion Picture Soundtrack, on July 1, 2003 by Curb Records. It was released as a single from the soundtrack on October 28, 2003 by Curb Records. The song was later included on Rimes' Greatest Hits album, which was released on November 18, 2003. In 2004, the song was included on The Best of LeAnn Rimes and the Wildlife Radio Edit of the song was released on the remix edition. It is the third time Rimes would work with American songwriter Diane Warren on a soundtrack.

We Can Work It Out
"We Can Work It Out" is a song by the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. It was released as a "double A-sided" single with "Day Tripper", the first time both sides of a single were so designated in an initial release. Both songs were recorded during the Rubber Soul sessions.
The song is an example of Lennon–McCartney collaboration at a depth that happened only rarely after they wrote the hit singles of 1963. This song, "A Day in the Life", "Baby, You're a Rich Man", and "I've Got a Feeling", are among the notable exceptions.
Composition
McCartney wrote the words and music to the verses and the chorus, with lyrics that "might have been personal", probably a reference to his relationship with Jane Asher. McCartney then took the song to Lennon:
With its intimations of mortality, Lennon's contribution to the twelve-bar bridge contrasts typically with what Lennon saw as McCartney's cajoling optimism, a contrast also seen in other collaborations by the pair, such as "Getting Better" and "I've Got a Feeling". As Lennon told Playboy in 1980:

John Culhane takes us behind the scenes of the unmade Darrell Van Citters version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, 1983. With animator Mike Giamo and producer Marc Sturdivant.
Disney 1981-1983. Animators: Chris Buck, Randy Cartwright. Character design and concepts: Mike Giamo, Mike Gabriel. Paul Reubens, known as Pee Wee Herman, plays Roger Rabbit. Peter Renaday and Mike Gabriel as Eddie Valiant. Russi Taylor as Jessica. Jack Angel as Captain Cleaver. Screenwriters Peter Seaman and Jeffrey Price. Producer Mark Sturdivant.
While Roger was a villain in the book, trying to solve his own murder, this Roger is a loveable goofball in white fur and red overalls - a prototype for the final film. Baby Herman is glimpsed only briefly, and Jessica Rabbit appears to be the villain of the piece. Still, this version clearly laid some groundwork for the Zemeckis/Williams production a few years later.
The prototype Roger Rabbit appears cheering in the stands in the featurette “Sport Goofy in Soccermania.”

Although the introduction of vaccines has been an enormous public health boon to many diseases, including the major childhood diseases, the possible eradication of these diseases has been compromised by the increasing number of parents and guardians who choose not to vaccinate their children. These decisions are enabled by legislation in most states that was enacted under Congressional pressure. While a few states, like California, have moved to make exemptions from routine vaccination requirements more difficult, most states still require deference to parental decisions based on religion or, more amorphously, on “philosophical” objections.
This presentation will discuss the recent history of exemptions, the clustering of disease in communities with high rates of vaccine refusal, and suggestions for changing the dialogue. Among the suggestions raised will be: increased public awareness of the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program; purposely separating discussion of vaccinations that protect against STDs; and agitating for legislation that achieves a compromise by requiring more of parents who wish to opt out of vaccinating their children. The possibility of imposing civil liability on parents whose children infect other children will also be discussed.
John Culhane is the H. Albert Young Fellow in Constitutional Law, and Co-Director of the Family Health Law & Policy Institute at Delaware Law School (Widener University). From 1999 through 2009, he was a Lecturer at the Yale University School of Public Health. He has written widely on a host of topics, including the injuries caused by social risks, and compensation for victims of mass disasters, including Hurricane Katrina, the terrorist attacks on 9/11, and child sexual abuse. He is editor and an author of Reconsidering Law and Policy Debates: A Public Health Perspective (Cambridge 2011). His work has appeared in numerous law journals, and he has been featured on National Public Radio, the Washington Post on-line, and has been published by the New York Times, Politico, Dissent, and Slate (where he is a contributing writer), among many others.

This presentation will discuss the recent history of exemptions, the clustering of disease in communities with high rates of vaccine refusal, and suggestions for changing the dialogue. Among the suggestions raised will be: increased public awareness of the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program; purposely separating discussion of vaccinations that protect against STDs; and agitating for legislation that achieves a compromise by requiring more of parents who wish to opt out of vaccinating their children. The possibility of imposing civil liability on parents whose children infect other children will also be discussed.
John Culhane is the H. Albert Young Fellow in Constitutional Law, and Co-Director of the Family Health Law & Policy Institute at Delaware Law School (Widener University). From 1999 through 2009, he was a Lecturer at the Yale University School of Public Health. He has written widely on a host of topics, including the injuries caused by social risks, and compensation for victims of mass disasters, including Hurricane Katrina, the terrorist attacks on 9/11, and child sexual abuse. He is editor and an author of Reconsidering Law and Policy Debates: A Public Health Perspective (Cambridge 2011). His work has appeared in numerous law journals, and he has been featured on National Public Radio, the Washington Post on-line, and has been published by the New York Times, Politico, Dissent, and Slate (where he is a contributing writer), among many others.

While the Antitrust Division represents a relatively small percentage of the nation’s federal prosecutors, in recent years, it has become increasingly active in bringing criminal prosecutions across a range of industries, resulting in both lengthy prison sentences and criminal fines far exceeding those historically associated with antitrust prosecutions.
This webinar will examine some of the unique aspects of investigations and prosecutions by the Antitrust Division and advocacy before that Division. Among the topics discussed will be:
-The types of industries and businesses that have been the focus of recent investigative activity by the Antitrust Division
-The considerations involved in the Antitrust Division’s decision to investigate a matter, including whether it should be a civil or criminal matter.
