The 24th century of the anno Domini (common) era will span from January 1, 2301 to December 31, 2400 of the Gregorian calendar. Unlike most century years, the year 2400 is a leap year, and the first century leap year since 2000.
Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager, as well as Star Trek Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek Nemesis are set in the 24th century.
Albert Rivera Díaz (born November 15, 1979, Barcelona) is a Spanish lawyer and politician of Catalan and Andalusian ancestry. He is currently the leader of the Citizens' Party., after having been a member of the conservative People's Party (PP) from 2002 to 2006. Albert Rivera quit PP just three months before running for elections with Citizen's Party
He studied at the ESADE law school. At the 2006 Catalan Parliament election (the first campaign they participated in after its recent creation in July 2006), his party scored 3.04% of the votes and won 3 seats in the Parliament of Catalonia.
Jorge Alfonso Alejandro del Castillo Gálvez (born July 2, 1950) is a Peruvian lawyer and politician. He was the Prime Minister of Peru. He is also a member and current Secretary-General of the Peruvian Aprista Party. In his career he has served in the now abolished Peruvian Chamber of Deputies, in the Peruvian Congress of the Republic, and as mayor of Lima and Barranco.
Born at Lima, Jorge del Castillo studied law at the National University of San Marcos from 1968 to 1974. Between 1993 and 1994 Del Castillo studied Constitutional Law at Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
Del Castillo served as mayor of Barranco Ward, Lima from 1984 to 1986. In 1985 he was appointed by Aprista President Alan García as prefect (appointed state governor) of Lima. In 1987 he was elected as mayor of Metropolitan Lima County running as a member of the Peruvian Aprista Party and served as mayor until 1989. In 1992, when President Alberto Fujimori dissolved the opposition controlled Congress, Del Castillo helped APRA leader Alan García find refuge in Colombia.
Alan Gabriel Ludwig García Pérez (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈalaŋ ɡaˈβɾjel luðˈβiɣ ɣarˈsi.a ˈpeɾes]; born 23 May 1949) was the President of Peru, having won the 2006 elections on 4 June 2006 in a run-off against Union for Peru candidate Ollanta Humala. He is the leader of the APRA and the only party member ever to have served as President of Peru. He served a first term as President from 1985 to 1990. His first term was marked by a severe economic crisis, social unrest and violence. He ran unsuccessfully for the Presidency in 2001, losing in a run-off to Alejandro Toledo. During his second term Peru averaged seven percent GDP growth a year, held inflation below three percent annually and collated Peru's foreign exchange reserves at US$47 billion; however his tenureship also resulted in increased environment damage according to critics and increased social conflict, according to the national human rights ombudsman's office.
García won the elections on 14 April 1985 with 45% of the votes. Since he did not receive the 50% of the votes required to win the presidency, García had to enter a run-off against Alfonso Barrantes (the leftist former mayor of Lima) of the United Left party. Barrantes, however, retired and decided not to enter the run-off, saying he did not want to prolong the political uncertainty of the country. García was thus declared president on 1 June and officially took power on 28 July 1985. For the first time in its sixty-year history, the APRA party came to power in Peru. Aged 36, García was dubbed "Latin America's Kennedy", becoming the region's youngest president at the time, and the second youngest president in Peruvian history (the youngest was Juan Crisostomo Torrico in 1842, aged 34).
